About this cottage rental
Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place near Hubbard Park with a short walk to the Capitol and downtown Montpelier. Your home-away-from-home for all seasons and the perfect place to rest and relax after a day on the slopes, hiking in the mountains, and visiting Vermont's many nearby sugar shacks, breweries, wineries, markets and cultural venues. You will love this cozy and stylish home and enjoy cooking in the fully-equipped kitchen or eating at the many local restaurants.
We are continuously crafting what we hope is the perfect getaway for you and your family! Settle into this cozy home-away-from home on top of the hill next to historic Hubbard Park within walking distance to downtown Montpelier, the shops, restaurants and Farmers Market and the State House. Stay home and relax by the beautiful Hearthstone wood stove (in winter), or the fire-pit surrounded by lush foliage in spring and summer — and dramatic auburn hues in fall — but be careful because this place has a way of making you want to stay longer!!
This 1960s Cape-style home with hardwood floors, original artwork, views in all directions (of dense woodlands, distant mountains and picturesque Montpelier) is the perfect setting for a comfortable respite complete with modern furnishings, super comfortable beds -- with 100% cotton linens -- and 30-minutes to Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen and Burlington, will give you a warm and welcoming Vermont experience!
We are NOT your cookie-cutter, prefab house. Our house has deep roots and heart. In fact, we have taken great pains to create a space that is simple, clean, and uncluttered — a space in which to relax while you work on that novel, make gourmet food and enjoy meals with family and friends — and a homebase while you explore the city and all the area has to offer.
We provide comfortable memory foam beds and high-speed Internet to handle all of your online requirements. Our fully-equipped kitchen (with plenty of pots and pans for cooking and baking) is perfect for quick meals or gourmet dinners (a convection oven with four-burner glass stovetop; a drip coffee maker; French press; blender; and toaster oven). Adjacent to the kitchen, in its own dedicated ‘laundry’ niche, is the (high-efficiency) stackable washer/dryer — which makes doing laundry a breeze!
Closets are available for you to manage your wardrobe and stow your luggage throughout your stay. An iron and ironing board are available as well. Washer and dryer are available for your use and located in the basement.
The large living room includes a workspace with a desk, desk chair and lamp. We provide free Internet. This space also includes a vintage Pilates reformer for workouts.
In summer, enjoy fresh herbs and vegetables direct from the garden! A fully-equipped kitchen awaits — whether it’s to prepare lunch for an outing or a gourmet meal for family and friends, Vermont is all about ‘farm to table’ freshness — and Montpelier is a ‘foodie’ paradise!
Housekeeping takes inventory photos to document the condition of the house for liability purposes. Any and all damage or missing items are reported. Housekeeping observes Covid guidelines and follows standard cleaning protocols including The five-step cleaning process:
1. Prepare your equipment and ventilate the space before cleaning
2. Clean each area by removing dust and debris
3. Sanitize all high-touch surfaces, appliances, and electronics
4. Check that the space has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
5. Reset the room for the next guest and restock your supplies

The house sits atop a forested hill on a spacious corner lot surrounded by mature ash, oak, birch and maple trees in an accessible and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood — adjacent to historic Hubbard Park, downtown Montpelier and just a short commute to the Amtrak station. So, while we’re relatively close to downtown (less than a mile to the city center), we’re also near heavily-forested Hubbard Park — so it is not at all uncommon to see a variety of wildlife (deer, chipmunk, crows, skunk, fox, the occasional black bear and woodchuck). In fact, a family of woodchucks live in a den on the west side of the property. When startled, they emit a shrill, high-pitched whistle sound. And while harmless, they can be a nuisance when they help themselves to our garden! We do not allow guests to receive mail at the house address. We recommend guests get a post box at the USPS, the UPS Store or Fedex Store.

Perfect place for a reunion with friends.

Peaceful retreat, perfect for a couple. It only has one bathroom so it might be tough to stay with more than a couple of people. Owners were great about communications.
