About this farm stay rental
Fazenda Cassinum is our home, it is with joy that we open the doors to receive groups that connects with our project – “Live by exchanging with the land what it has to offer us and leaving as a legacy the purpose of being planters of ideals, offer friendship and reap the fruits of love and respect for others and for nature.”
Location: We are in Baía do Iguape, the largest estuary in Bahia and by the Paraguaçu River. This region allows boat trips in calm waters, cutting through its mangroves, nesting of several birds. It is possible to visit churches built in the 1608s, as well as Vilas and Quilombos.
How to get there
You need to drive to Santiago do Iguape village, a district of Cachoeira, Recôncavo Baiano which is 120km from Salvador. Santiago is a fishing village with typical daily life of a riverside community. The bus or car will leave you there and you reach the farm by boat. The boarding through the village is simple, it happens by the ramp or directly on the tide, it is from there that we leave to make a small crossing of about 10 minutes by boat, which we provide.
Arriving at the farm, disembarkation is also done directly on the tide, then we have a small climb to the accommodation. This route must be done with suitable footwear, wellies, waterproof boots, depending on the season.
The House
Project by architect Irina Biletska, designed to be cozy and self-sufficient. With eco-dynamic architecture, the chosen materials were wood, including demolition wood, steel and brick from Bahia. It was designed to take advantage of natural ventilation and lighting, sewage treatment by biodigester and water treatment by banana trees, composting system with total use of organic material compost, among other environmental projects, such as agricultural, vegetable and tea gardens, fruit orchards, various plantations, and preservation of native forest. With solar energy and a rainwater harvesting system, it has total independence from public services and a better use of natural resources.
With a large room integrated with the balcony, we created an ideal environment to gather friends for a chat, presentation of lectures, workshops, and other group activities.
The service of cellular operators around here is limited and Vivo is the one that picks up the best signal. We offer free Wi-Fi which works well most of the time. It is possible to talk by WhatsApp and even watch a movie at night.
