A perfect location for home base. Bob and Darlene are wonderful hosts. They are on property and available if anything is needed. The home is located right on the creek with a fire pit and corn hole. Great nite time under the stars.

First, the cabin is cute as can be! Clean, cozy & a stones throw from the Esopus Creek. Its very relaxing to sit down by the water with a glass of wine. You couldn't ask for a better location in this area.
My 1st interaction with the owner (husband) was awful. I was bringing my service dog & was told he wasn't allowed. I quickly reminded him that it was illegal to refuse a service dog. A few hours later, he approved my request. When I arrived, no sooner than I could put groceries on the table, I turned around to see the owner (husband) standing at the door. He immediately reprimanded me for wearing my rubber soled flipflops 3 feet into the home. I had been driving for 11 hours and hadn't had a chance to log into VRBO yet so I was caught offguard. He again expressed his displeasure of me bringing my service dog, as if I didn't hear him the first-time. Embarrassing to say the least. He then asked multiple questions prior to leaving.(Ok, that's the completion of my "sour" portion).
I'm originally from the area. I spent time in the town of Phoenicia and & thoroughly enjoyed the evenings on the porch of the cabin and down at the creek. At night, you can hear the water flowing if you open the window in the bedroom. So soothing. The property is off the road so it's very quiet. Perfect.
The 2nd day there, I met the other owner (wife) & she's simply lovely. Very sweet and accommodating. Because of her & the property, I would love to come back in the future. 4 out of 5 stars.

This was my wife and I's first wedding anniversary and to say that this stay exceeded our expectations is a severe understatement. Everything about our stay was amazing Bob is so meticulous with every aspect of these cabins and goes WELL above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The moment we showed up he was there to welcome us and went out of his way to thoroughly explain everything and tell us all about the local attractions and how we could get to them. Also where we may get essentials we may need from where and at what times. I fully recommend staying with Bob at one of his cabins and I know my wife and I will be staying again soon Absolutely Amazing!!!

This cabin is completely updated and near a creek. It's very tastefully decorated. The hosts were there to greet us and give us the lay of the land. Delightfully personable, they made it clear that they were available for any needs or questions. We were very comfortable. Would visit again. Thanks for your exceptional hospitality!

Our stay at Rocky Bottom cabin one was wonderful. The cabin is cozy and has all you need for a short getaway. River and a fire pit in the back yard were a wonderful addition. We enjoyed the slower pace of life and a wonderful nature of the Catskills. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to see what this area has to offer. Robert was very helpful and cordial.

I had a really good experience with this cabin and the location. The owner lives on site, met me within two minutes of my arrival, and then gave me a brief and complete rundown of the property and the surrounding area highlights. Property sits on a beautiful stream and the large property is very well maintained. Inside of the cabin matches the photographs in the listing. A lot of outdoor activities near by. If you like hiking, there are really nice lakes and trailheads all along Route 214, which is only 15 minutes away. If you are going to Kaaterskill Falls, go early. The parking lot fills up and then closes. I would return here for hiking and a weekend getaway. Several ski mountains near by too.

I came to take a private retreat “away from it all” and was delighted in all ways by my stay. Bob is a cordial and caring host. The cottage was impeccably clean, updated and well stocked with all little touches from coffee to brew, creamers and condiments, soft and comfortable towels, blankets and sheets (I only mention because of their comfort). The place was cozy and well arranged. Nice screened in front porch and chairs and fire pit by the Esopous Creek… a few feet from the cottage. Location is great… I loved my stay and will recommend to others and be back for sure.

Bob’s property was excellent—clean, warm and cozy. Close to Woodstock, and with a convenient bus stop downtown for traveling to and from NYC, I would highly recommend staying here! My only call out would be to make sure you have the location saved in your phone before you get too close to the cabin—no cell service! Bob was very friendly and helpful, and we had no issues checking in or out.

This cabin was extremely welcoming and cozy. Perfect for 2 people looking for a quick weekend getaway to ski! This was in the back of Bob’s property; I have stayed in shared property vrbo’s in the past but this was by far my best experience. He was attentive to us and available at an arms reach, but respected our privacy as well. Our experience made us feel like we were family friends who were up visiting for the weekend. Bob even shoveled around our cars the morning after a heavy snow which was very kind and appreciated.
Bob happened to be home upon our arrival personally introduced us to the cabin and it’s amenities. It was impeccably clean and organized; we felt like we were one of the first people to stay there, but it was equally cozy and inviting. He recommended many restaurants in the area and other things to explore and we appreciated his personal touches on the recommendations. There was a river in the back of his property as well which would be lovely to enjoy in the warmer months of the year, but it was too cold for us to enjoy in January.
He actually has 2 cabins, so this would be a great property to stay at if wanting to visit the area with friends or family; You could rent both at the same time! I would love to do this in the future, maybe during the summer as to enjoy more hiking-like activities around the Catskills, but we thoroughly enjoyed our skiing weekend.

The cabin “Rocky Bottom” was exactly as described. Beautiful rustic wood-cabin design but high-end comfort and amenities. Bed was comfortable, kitchen has every appliance you need, heat worked great, nice comfortable furniture, bathroom clean and modern, etc. Lovely enclosed porch for hanging out. So nice to sit and listen and watch the Esopus creek out back. Bob and Darlene are fantastic hosts: great communication and providing so many extra touches to make your stay special. Tons of soft towels and extra warm blankets, fast wifi, Roku tv, coffee, a gift of a bottle of wine, fire pit for sitting by the creek, and so on. Bob even waited for me to make sure I arrived okay (it’s very dark at night). I wish I had had more time to just hang out in the cabin (I was busy at a yoga retreat). I hope I will have time in the future to visit again. I highly recommend this place to anyone for any season.

I think this property is all you could want in a lodging property. It is in wonderful condition, clean and bright. You can tell care goes in to setting up this cottage for guests. The hosts Robert and Darlene are great. They provide all you need for your stay. They have a house on the property and are there if you need them. Though you have your privacy. I don't think you would make a mistake choosing this cottage.

After flying up to Long Island from Orlando, we drove up to Phoenicia four days later to see the colors of Autumn and do some hiking. Our host met us when we arrived and made us feel immediately at home. "Uncle" B is super cool, friendly, and was very helpful in getting us settled in for our three days of adventures in the Catskills. The cabin was awesome, from the decor to the amenities and all the little extras that were provided to us. The property is on the Esopus Creek, which flowed more rapidly like a river, providing the constant reminder that we were in the mountains of New York state. We found plenty of things to do all within thirty minutes or so from the cabin. We explored around the Ashokan Reservoir, Woodstock, and Kingston. The West Kill Brewing, up by Hunter Mountain, was a good stop for a beer by the fire pit. Kaaterskill Falls was absolutely amazing. We got four miles of hiking up and down and all around the falls. Our last night was spent chilling by the fire pit at the cabin, listening to the rapids and checking out the stars. We are really looking forward to returning, maybe even as soon as the Spring. Thanks again for your hospitality!

Sit at the edge of the Esopus River in the Adirondack chairs. Or spend your time inside the immaculate cabin.
Just easy to relax. Close to town for food.

The host has been very attentive making sure we have everything we need. I think the river, the cabin location on the water, the little rabbits in the yard, the updates cabin, katterskills falls, are the highlights and the main key takeaways . The Phoenicia village is lovely with few places to eat. Biking along The Ashakan reservoir is also a really good option and so the pedal assist rail . Definitely a really good choice for about a short 2 hours drive from the city. Would definitely recommend and do it again !

The cabin is nicely decorated and plenty of supplies - including nice touches like coffee, blankets and fire making essentials. There is one home between the cabin & the river, so while you cannot see river from the cabin, you can hear it and it's a very short walk. (maybe 100') Chairs & a firepit near the river became our hang out. Hosts are on sight and made sure we had what we needed.

Bob and Darlene were wonderful hosts. The cabin was clean and comfortable with many nice personal touches. We enjoyed having the Esopus Creek right in our back yard. Location is very good for getting around to all kinds of hikes and beautiful drives. We can’t wait to come back again.

Perfect location away from "hustle & bustle" but still close enough to cute small towns, hiking and gorgeous scenery. Cabin was very clean, cozy and had everything we needed! Loved sitting on the adirondak chairs near the Esopus Creek around the back. So relaxing! Hosts were very helpful in giving tour of the property and recommendations.
