the property is luxurious but unpretentious. it's cozy but very spacious.
it's hard to find anything new that hasn't already been said by other reviewers. the kitchen is adequate but not full featured, and i dare anyone to find another fault - everything else is six stars. the owner prides themselves on ensuring lots of personality, and it's present in abundance. it is beautiful and unique and comfortable.
it's absolutely worth staying in the winter as well. it's very warm - so much so that the beautiful sauna becomes unnecessary - and the snowy mountain views are impressive.
don't hesitate. book this special place.

We enjoyed a wonderful week here in the middle of our holiday in Austria and it was really the highlight. Very conveniently located in proximity to a number of villages with great places to eat and enjoy the lake and mountains. Despite the ease of access, the house is very quietly situated and cool in the hot summer when we stayed. The attention to detail is great and you always feel very well cared for if any questions arise. Unlike many homes where one is constantly needing little purchase items to enjoy ones stay (e.g. charcoal for the BBQ, serviettes or paper plates) everything is there and ready to be used. A luxury! A lovely Sauna caps the experience.

My husband and I stayed in Inge and Susanne's guest house for 2 weeks as part of our European honeymoon. It was absolutely divine! We couldn't believe how stunning the whole property was, and all the inclusions. Inge and Susanne were also extremely lovely, making special effort to welcome us in comfort and communication was great!
The house provided us with tranquility and seclusion, even on rainy days there was no problem having a great time relaxing or using the sauna inside. Space is no issue!
Downstairs we did a lot of cooking in the small kitchenette. It is small, but completely adequate for a long stay. Everything you need is provided, inc. a great pod coffee machine and decent sized fridge. A large dining room, which we used a lot for long breakfast' under the sky lights. The bathroom is medium in size with half of it being just the shower, which was awesome! (no laundry) No problems with hot water and heated tiles for those colder nights. One small comment, we would have liked some extra towels for the longer stay, but not a big problem at all. Upstairs is heavenly. Surrounded by open windows with views entirely of the surrounding forest, every morning was breathe taking as we woke in the very comfortable four poster bed. There is ample space to relax in the living space also. The upstairs has an exit point which leads down to the adorable log cabin complete with easy-to-use BBQ by the creek. We spent a lot of time here, BBQing on the warmer days, reading on the sun chairs and porch area and cosying up inside at night. Susanne also gave us insect repellant which came in handy! There was wi-fi provided which was helpful. The range was better upstairs than down but we weren't using internet very much with so much else to occupy our stay.
There's nothing not to love about this property!
Also worth mentioning is a horse riding academy close by where we had a lesson (thanks to Susanne's help in booking!) Really great for both of us as beginners. Obviously the beautiful lake at your doorstep with a public beach area just a 10min bike ride away, bikes provided with booking. Restaurant Moser was great for local eat of fresh Traunsee fish. And definitely worth a visit if you like finer food is the restaurant Hollerwirt, very close by. Our experience here was second to none. The head chef was most accommodating and all the produce is local, making the food absolutely exceptional!
Overall I HIGHLY recommend staying!!

This was a gem of a find on my husband's part (and he did an extensive amount of research not only on HomeAway, but many other sites--so let me spare you the extra work in finding the perfect place with this review).
Our stay in this beautiful and charming home quickly made its way to being the highlight of our honeymoon. Not only are you surrounded be an enchanting forest and creek, tucked away from the (very little) activity of Altmuenster; you get to retreat to a regal, palacial bedroom found by winding the spiral staircase from the main entryway near the sauna, large bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen, and look out into the woods after a lovely day of hiking, visiting beaches of incomparable beauty (and we live in California!), or any of the many other activities available in this paradise. To be honest, as much as my husband and I love the outdoors, we would find ourselves looking forward to getting back to our 'palace' at the end of each day.
The owner, Inge, was incredibly kind and generous, having gone out of her way to prepare the home and the additional log cabin, as well as the elegant dining room lodge (yes--all part of the package!) with gifts of welcome in both food and drink, which were not even part of the agreement. When we asked her about places to visit, she went out of her way to make sure we were able to find the places and get there, one of which was the beautiful beach at Langbathsee. We have never encountered such hospitality, which together with outstanding and unforgettable accomodations made our honeymoon here a magical retreat.
Our experience was so rich that we have kept in touch with Inge and her family since. You will not regret this stay! It was worth so much more than what we paid. Having stayed in many top-notch hotels in the United States, we have seen exquisite quality, but this is still our favorite.
