The space
Ever since I took my first trip to Hawaii nearly 30 years ago , I wondered about what it would be like to stay for more than a week. During the height of the lockdowns of 2020; my husband and I decided to find out what it would be like to “ be local” for a month. We stayed in another unit in the same building and were inspired to buy our condo at Makaha Valley Towers. We invite you to come experience small town life in one of the most beautiful places in the world. You might not be able to stay for a whole 30 days, but the price is much better than a week in the hotel zone in Waikiki. It’s quiet; the pace is slow; the restaurants, grocery stores and businesses are run by local people.
Experience Aloha.

This charming place is located in a secluded, yet accessible condo building in Makaha Valley. You will truly be “living locally”. The space is located on the 3rd floor with elevator access from the main parking lot. Use it as your home base for excursions all around the Island.
The property has resident peacocks, which are spectacular to watch! Their calls and antics will delight you and become some of your favorite memories of this stay.
Enjoy a pool swim, BBQ and eat your meal in the outdoor space, cook in our fully equipped kitchen or explore the unique local eateries. We have a list of favorites included in our guide book. Most of the local places don’t serve beer or wine; but will allow you to bring your own. The majority of local businesses close at 9pm.
Having a rental car is recommended; (try turo.com for a non-traditional rental experience) but there are several bus routes ( 40, 93 express and the Country express) with stops just below the guard shack and at Makaha Beach. An express bus is a great way to do a day trip to Waikiki without the hassle of parking.
Explore the beaches; Makaha Beach is a 3 minute drive or a 20 minute walk. This side of the Island has plenty of beaches to discover and enjoy. We have provided some “beach essentials”, including a cooler. Every beach has local food trucks and vendors, especially during the weekends.
The building is a residential building; and we value good relationships with our staff and neighbors. The office is closed on weekends, but the guard shack can help you with your off hours needs.
Your monthly parking pass must be purchased at the office, in cash. If you arrive after they are closed, you will receive a guest parking pass. The guest lot has stairs up to the “main level” and the elevator. I suggest that you unload your car near the elevator in the resident lot and park after.
Check out the Saturday market ( 10 minute drive) for fresh produce, handmade and affordable keepsakes and food trucks!
Guest access
You will have access to the whole condo!
Other things to note
Don’t allow small children on the standing lanai without supervision.
Close the curtains when you go out during the day to keep the condo cooler.
If you want extra cleaning during your stay, it can be arranged depending on the availability of our cleaning service for an extra fee.
