Hotel was wonderful. Unique. Our bathroom was on a second floor from the bedroom. We had to climb a narrow spiral staircase to get to it. Once u got used to the stairs it wasnt a big deal in the middle of the night. Would definetely stay there again.

What a fun stay in York! We were pleasantly surprised to have convenient parking right in the heart of town. A gorgeous property with a lovely room and comfortable bed. We could easily walk to the Minster, Shambles and City Wall with no problem. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent as were all the staff we met. They made sure our stay was completely comfortable.

Amazing place! Lots of charming character, but modern and luxurious amenities.

Wonderful experience, the staff could not have been any nicer. We would definitely stay here again

This is a remarkable property, a meticulously maintained historic building backing onto an extensive garden, with a friendly and responsive staff.

The staff were amazing, friendly, professional and so welcoming.

Wonderful location nestled next to the Minster and with its own access to the city wall. A small intimate hotel with excellent staff. Fabulous couple of days.

Wonderful location, gorgeous garden, super friendly staff, good breakfast, large bathroom with tub, 2 sinks, good shower, slippers, bathrobes, and good amenities. Room was on the smaller side but the two lounge chairs were comfortable and positioned well. Main criticism was having to haul our suitcases up multiple flights of stairs.

This is a wonderful gem of a hotel. Easily the best I have ever stayed in. The staff are exceptional, the rooms and garden just gorgeous. Will certainly be coming back and intend to try the evening meal next time. Much recommended!

Exquisite in every way. Staff were so friendly and accommodating- exactly what you are looking for in a boutique hotel. The decor was brilliant and the garden ambiance was amazing! Rooms were hot but comfortable in every other way.

Stayed here for a weekend in June 2024. We didnt realise at first how close in proximity it was to all the major tourist areas we wanted to explore - so this hotel is a must book if you want to do things like explore York Minister, see the art gallery, or even just wander along the Shambles.
The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly - being a boutique hotel they offer the sort of greeting that many chain hotels dont - its next level customer service with a hint of posh.
I was however, a bit concerned by their room facilities. The bed area in our room seemed a bit squashed together - two twin beds with other bits and pieces of furniture that had water bottles on one and a coffee machine crammed onto the other. While these are nice touches I just felt maybe something else could have been done.
The wardrobe at the end of the hall with robes/slippers and ironing board/iron was nice and tucked away - obviously had to be done because theres no other space for a wardrobe.
The bathroom was nicely decorated and lovely to see posh toiletries - unfortunately this was let down by the shower which pumped out hot water to such a degree I felt I might leave with third degree burns even after much faffing with the dial.
Garden area really peaceful and lovely, nice place to escape with a drink (if you dont mind a fair few steps to get to it). However you wont be able to enjoy any rum here as the inhouse bar doesnt stock it!

Stayed at greys court York right near the minster - park at the hotel for £20 . Room was large and comfortable all staff were helpful and friendly . It’s in the heart of York so you can just walk straight in town . It’s lovely place to stay would highly recommend

Overall a very lovely stay, historical building and very friendly service. One problem was about 30 mins wait during breakfast, but staff apologised, so that's ok.
Very comfortable bed, good coffee and nice toiletries.

This is a unique experience in the most intimate part of York.

We had a fantastic stay at your lovely hotel. We so loved sitting in the garden enjoying our lunch. The food was fantastic and the view better.

This is a hidden gem of a hotel which is wonderfully positioned almost in the shadow of York Minster. If you are lucky enough to have good weather during your stay, then relaxing in the beautiful garden sitting under the city walls with a drink or a good book is a delight. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and contributed hugely to the experience. The only downside which stops me giving our stay five stars is the almost total lack of drawer space and hanging space in the bedroom meaning my wife, in particular, had to live out of a suitcase for the duration of our stay. Such a pity as the room was otherwise excellent.

I cannot recommend Grays Court enough - I decided to visit York for the first time and the moment I walked into the beautiful hotel, I was taken care of by Suzanna who made me feel at home, gave me a map with suggestions of where to explore, and then sent me away to my train the next day with a lovely treat to enjoy. The hotel is marvelous, service perfect, and the rooms and grounds are stunning with a quick walk into York and all that there was to explore.

Amazing property that backed right on to the city wall walk and York Minster. Did tasting menu one evening and it was outstanding. Not for anyone not ready for lots of stairs. No elevator at all. Loved our room but bathroom was up a flight of narrow winding stairs.. an experience at 2 in the am.

Wonderful beautiful property very unique and full of history. More for couples vs family unless teenagers that have appreciation for history

Absolutely taken aback with this gem of a hotel. You felt as if you were detached from the city of York despite being bang in the middle of it. Wonderful staff, so helpful and obliging. We will return. 🙂

We had a very enjoyable stay in this beautiful old hotel its like a little hidden gem.
The breakfast was perfect and so were the staff.

Absolutely incredible property. The room interior is traditional with modern, upgraded components. I’ve stayed in many luxury hotels around the world but this facility is better than many 5-star hotels I’ve been in. The customer service is top notch. It felt more like an intimate, warm, cozy guest house than a soulless hotel. Front desk service was phenomenal. We were greeted for our anniversary upon arrival and were given a small, thoughtful gift bag before checking out. The breakfast experience was thoroughly enjoyable and the bar is such a delight. Both areas are tastefully decorated and the staff is very friendly and professional. I truly cannot recommend this property enough, especially with it being extremely close to the gorgeous York Minster and old city walls. I regret booking my stay at another hotel because I would have loved to spend more days here. Thank you for the experience, Gray’s Court! We hope to be back someday.

We have to say this is the best accommodation we have ever encountered in our traveling lives. The hotel, yes, but the staff is superb in every way.

Fab location right in the centre of York, the place has lots of character and beautiful grounds. The room was very quiet and private. Staff very friendly and breakfast was excellent. Just let down a little by our check in experience (waited 15 minutes before member of staff arrived) also blinds in room let in lots of light so we were awake around 6am. All in all a lovely stay and would happily return

We had a great stay! Everything perfect, would definitely recommend
Small hotel so lovely and quiet, next door to the Minster and Theatre within 5 min walk!

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is an old building that has been renovated, but has kept the feel of old world charm.
Keep in mind if you stay here there are steps in odd areas that you need to watch out for. It is easy to trip and fall. The old woodwork is amazing, as well as are the stone stairs. Would highly recommend to stay here.

We loved our stay at Gray's Court, receptionist was lovely and the facility is charming. It's in a fantastic centrally located area and the breakfast was both delicious and a great overall experience that enhanced the stay. Only thing I would note is the room needs updating, we stayed in the Elizabeth Gray room and the carpet is very old and lots of grout missing in floor tile of bathroom but it did feel clean. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place and would stay here again!

Beautiful property right in the heart of York.
Staff were fabulous and very welcoming. I will definitely stay here again.

Gray's Court is very central in York - you will be in walking distance to everything.
The hotel is in an old historic building and it has a lot of charm. Despite being an old building the rooms are up to date and give you everything you need.
The breakfast is fantastic - you are served at your table and the taste of what you get is just delicious.
Reception is always happy to talk to you, they are polite and give you very good feeling.

Susanna and Miri made us feel very welcome and looked after my mum and I. It’s our second year coming and we have fallen in love with Gray’s court hotel. It is absolutely perfect. Thank you

This property is a gem right in the heart of York, a stone's throw from the Minster. It has history (walls from a thousand years ago, royal visits), period decorations and amazing character.
The long gallery is a great place to sit and chat. In fact we had my daughter and her partner over for drinks one night just to enjoy that wonderful space.
The rooms were very comfortable and the food was great and filling each morning. You had a number of flavourful choices each day and not your basic bacon and eggs either (although they have that too).
Most importantly, the staff are all highly attentive and care about the property, its history and providing the greatest care possible.
This is an easy 5 star review and I hope to be back soon.

Ideal location and gated parking on site. Hotel outstanding and made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
After a day and evening exploring the streets of York it was good to relax in the superb surroundings of the lounge bar with a glass or two of vino blanco. 🙂

Couldn’t fault anything about this lovely hotel, great staff, fabulous location, breakfast was really good, the little going home gift was a thoughtful touch. Perfect stay.

Just simply lovely! Attention to detail, nothing is too much trouble. Attentive, efficient, friendly staff. Excellent location for Minster and the city centre. Betty’s is a must for afternoon tea!
