About this cabin rental
That view though. Stay in the laidback, gorgeous beach town of Raglan in a classic Kiwi bach overlooking Cox's Bay.
Access to Cox's Bay is just a few houses down, making it perfect for a quick dip, a paddle-board or taking the kayak out. Great surf and swimming beaches a ten-minute drive. Walk to the village for a Raglan Roast coffee. Or just recline with a beverage and enjoy a glorious sunset from the front lawn.
Self-contained with all the amenities you need.
Let's get this straight: the cottage isn't fancy. It's old as heck but it has all the modern conveniences: a wood-burning fire, high-speed fibre broadband, great shower pressure, a dishwasher and well, that view. Imagine yourself sitting on the lawn in a comically oversized deck chair, a drink in hand while watching the sun illuminate the hills framing the bay as it rises, or cast pink fingers across the sky at sunset. With the call of a tui or ruru (morepork) keeping you company from a nearby harakeke (flax) bush or karaka tree.
Raglan has a unique hippie/surfer vibe, and it cared about sustainability before that became trendy. It's a modern town with great coffee and places to eat and drink, but retains an old school Kiwi feeling.
In the main cottage is a master bedroom with queen bed and a view to die for, plus a second room with two single beds. It has fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with toilet, shower and washer + dryer.
The separate sleep-out has a queen bed, small bathroom with toilet and shower plus a kitchenette with sink and kettle.
Other things to note
- Kayaks and surfboards are readily available to hire in the town
- Great walks in the area, including Mt Karioi for the fit
- Some of our favourites include the summer season cider slushies at George's Beach Club, brunch at The Shack, coffee from Raglan Roast, a Kapiti scooped ice cream, the old-school charm of a pint at the Harbour View Hotel, and of course ALL the places to swim or surf.
Cox's Bay is tidal, and while totally fine for swimming, it's best for paddleboarding or kayaking an hour either side of high tide. For the best swimming beach in the area, head to Ngarunui.
We're usually around to answer any questions by message or phone. We're happy to help out!
Access to Cox's Bay is from the next street down, making it perfect to walk to for stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking in the harbour. Ngarunui Beach is an 11 minute drive where lifeguards patrol and it's great to swim or surf, or go to the next bays along, Manu Bay and Whale Bay, for fantastic surf breaks.
The boat ramp is 350 metres away, and the village is a 15 minute walk, where you'll find amazing Raglan Roast coffee, the best Kapiti NZ ice cream, and great places to eat and drink

Beautiful location amongst bush and birds, and close to the township we could walk everywhere). Cosy and great fire which heated up the place quickly. Good instructions for TV, thanks for that - we were able to watch the Olympics.

Our stay was great. The house was warm and cozy.
The view is lovely too. Unfortunately the garden outside is unkempt and the window frames are not very clean, as there is mould on the old frames. This did not detract from our stay.
The owner was very responsive and sorted out an issue we had with a broken window.
This did not detract from our stay and we would stay again.

Had a wonderful weekend stay with family in raglan and couldn’t be happier with our choice of location. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and the size was great for 6 adults. It was during an April so cooler season but the fire kept the place lovely and warm and heaters were provided in each room but not needed except in the sleep out. I had missed an email about check in but the host contacted me straight away and made sure it was sorted for us quickly. The standout for us was the awesome decor and artwork, it’s like staying in an art gallery and gives such a fun vibe we really loved our time here. The nostalgic feel was awesome due to being a real kiwi Bach experience that was on par with what we had as kids. Hopefully we will all be back soon!

Great historical little Bach nestled among beautiful vegetation. Private yet offering great views of the water.
Had my wife’s sister and husband stay for two nights in the sleep out for an extra $100.
We really enjoyed our week away.

Easy to book and to check in. The house is clean and tidy. It was at a convenient walking distance from raglan wharf. The outside table is perfect for breakfast. The kitchen was a bit small for cooking meals for 4 adults. Overall would revommend.
