The Deck provided our family a wonderful base for our vacation. It was perfect for our twelve family members-four grandchildren sharing the bunk room and each child and their spouse having their own room. But by far the best part was the deck…covered with a ceiling fan, the hot tub, room for scooters, bubbles, and corn hole games. Trips to the end of the street to the walkway to the beach access, across the street to Dairy Queen which were frequent, down the street (just two miles) to Food Lion and Duck Donuts makes The Deck what realtors call “location, location, location”. Really, this place is a ten. Comfy, not the kind of place you have to worry about your child breaking something-it is child friendly inside and out. The hosts went over and above to make our vacation just what we needed. It feels like home!

My group had a fantastic experience at the deck! The hammock, bikes, hot tub, tiki bar, and outdoor TV made for an excellent stay, with tons to do the entire time. Location is great, there is a nice little coffee shop across the road (I really liked their matcha).
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the cleanliness and smell of the tiki bar fridge, it made all my ice smell funky after a day inside. The top shelf and door selves of the upstairs fridge were also somewhat broken and falling off constantly, and there was no bike pump available (host said this would be fixed for future stays) rendering the tandem bike inoperable.
Overall though these are minor issues and did not seriously affect the stay, we were very happy with everything else and very happy with the price as well.

This place has everything you will need for an amazing outer banks vacation. We had 6 adults and 6 children ages 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 & 9. There was plenty of sleeping space for everyone. We loved that the deck was fully enclosed for the younger kids. We still had to watch them closely because of the hot tub and stairs, but we knew that they could not get out. The ocean side beach was just a short walk away. We appreciated that there were life jackets to use. The waves were intense (aka fun). It gave us peace of mind that the older kids, who can swim, had that extra protection. There was also a beach on the sound side that was calm and only a short car ride away. The two outdoor showers and hoses were awesome. After a day at the beach the sand is everywhere! The warm showers made it easy to rinse off. We enjoyed the 3 nearby ice cream shops. (We tried all of them.) We did not use the kayaks or the bikes because we had the young children, but it was a nice touch that they were available. We cooked in for nearly all of our meals. There were plenty of dishes and cook wear to accommodate our group, which was a pleasant surprise since most places are chintzy on the kitchen supplies. Everything was as advertised.

Clean home, responsive owner BUT nowhere in the VRBO check in info did it mentioned NO LINENS. We weren't able to check in until late, due to cleaning crew. Apparently there was an email (that went to spam), but the check in info never mentioned that no linens were provided. We had 10 min to figure out what we needed and drive to where we could rent linens before they closed. That wasnt a good option. We were able to reach family, and buy some for the whole gang (about the same cost as a rental). This was a disappointing first for us... otherwise, a pleasant vacation. The kids enjoyed the beach and surf, as well as the hot tub.

I had an amazing experience at this location. I brought a large group (20) folks, and this large house was the perfect location in every way imaginable. The location was right next to the beach with a 1 minute walk to the boardwalk, perfect for our young group who were out and about all day. The house itself came with amazing amenities. Clean beds, clean bathrooms, a big living room and kitchen area made living in the house very easy. The deck area came with bicycles, a bar tv, a grill, and lots of space for seating which made it an amazing place to enjoy the breeze and relax with lots of people. I don’t know how this experience could have been improved. Highly recommend!

We came down for the weekend to send my nephews ashes off into the ocean. We were only in town from a Friday to Sunday but the weather was not forgiving for the weekend. Luckily this home provided plenty of room for the entire family that stayed including the ones that just hung out and allowed for things to do as well without having to leave. As far as cooking everything we needed was there. The owner was nice pleasant and fair to work with. If we get to go back we will try to stay here again.

My brother and I traveled up to catch a swell with some old surfing buddies. Great house, plenty of room for friends to sleep. Location was perfect we were able to surf on the beach in front of the house all day, then warm up in the hot Tub with some NFL football on the TV! We biked down to the Froggy Dog for dinner. Easiest surf weekend in the OBX I have ever had. Also enjoyed some conversation with the friendly neighbors.

Stayed with 14 of my fraternity brothers. The place was amazing. Good air conditioners, good beds; we loved the tiki bar outside. There was a ton of beach chairs, a hammock, games, and a grill. The vibes outside were amazing, it was a great spot to just chill with some buddies, beers, and music. Close proximity to the beach. The owner was also great. She responded very quickly to anything and was also very clear on house rules and whatnot. Super nice person, best host we've ever had.

The cottage is convenient to the beach and extremely well outfitted, duplicates on almost everything, lots of games and beach equipment. Rooms are nicely outfitted. There are some issues with moving around in the cottage. The downstairs bedroom is only accessible by going outside or through another bedroom but it isn't a huge problem. There are two upstairs bathrooms, but one requires going through a bedroom. Overall, its a nice , basic, not spectacular beach cottage.

The location was amazing, the owner was easy to reach, but the property was not what I expected. The pictures make it look way bigger, two of the fold out couches were broke and we were not told so we had to get air mattresses. Previous tenants created damages that I was not warned about, so I spent a lot of time worrying the first couple of days, due to the strict guidelines to stay there. I reported all the issues and the owner new about most thank God and I rested a little easier after the second day. The outlet in the double bunk next to the door that coinsides with the one by the very broken kitchen table stopped working our first night, so the maintenance guy went and bought extension cords. A lot of ups and downs. The lower deck was a life saver that was where we spent about 90% of our time. I can only imagine how hard it is to live 3 hours away from your rental and have to rely on others for the upkeep. Rhonda us great and accommodating, however the house has a lot of issues right now that need addressing.

We had a great time staying in this house. The house it very accurate from what it shows on the website. It holds 20 people very comfortably, but there are so many rules to follow while staying there that it could take away from the trip. Make sure you take notice of every little thing wrong with the house before you settle in so you do not get blamed for it. The neighbors are very cranky and the epitome of the “stay off my lawn guy”. The neighbors will complain if you play music at night but they will never say anything to you. This house is great for families who will wake up, go to the beach, come home, eat dinner, and go to bed. They house is very close to other houses and it feels like you have no privacy.
