Come to Tropea and let yourself be enchanted by the crystal clear water of its light blue and turquoise sea. Let yourself be dazzled by the whiteness of its beaches close to tuff cliffs covered with tufts of capers, oleanders and prickly pears. And, if you are interested in culture and history, you won’t be disappointed by its artistic and historical heritage. This is why Tropea has become, in its own right, one of the most popular trendy resorts in Italy. Winner of the title Borgo dei Borghi 2021, a competition of RAI 3 for the broadcast Alle falde del Kilimanjiaro. The only Calabrian resort to have obtained 5 sails 2023 from Lega ambiente and Touring club Italia. Moreover, this year, the prestigious English newspaper Daily Telegraph dedicated the cover of its travel insert to Tropea putting it’s photo-symbol: the splendid sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola resting on the cliff perched in the sea.
In addition to its coast, which for its beauty has rightly been named “Costa degli Dei” Tropea offers hidden wonders: the historic center, dating back to the Angevin-Aragonese period, with the tortuosity of its alleys where noble palaces with majestic portals unexpectedly , the Cathedral and the diocesan museum built in the XII century by the Normans.
Moreover, from sunrise to sunset, Tropea offers breathtaking panoramas from the various viewpoints overlooking the open sea, on whose horizon, on clear days, the unforgettable scenery of the seven Aeolian Islands appear. In two periods of the year, in March and towards the end of August, if you are lucky, you can witness a truly unforgettable show. They are the famous Ulisses’sunsets when the sun goes down right inside the Stromboli crater.
Among the marine attractions, National Geographic highlighted the neighboring Bay of Riace (1 km from the house) declaring it the most beautiful bay in Italy for diving and snorkelling.

Alessio was an incredible host and our apartment was truly amazing! The apartment was immaculate and had everything we needed. The garden was gorgeous and looked out over to beach below. We ate many of our meals at the table outside in the garden; the kitchen was well stocked and a just a little tight for multiple cooks. Alessio was very easy to communicate with, provided excellent guidance and instructions, and gave us several wonderful recommendations for restaurants, bars, and day trips. We were a group of six adults. There was ample space for all of us. We would highly recommend staying in this apartment as a base for exploring Tropea and Calabria. We will certainly look to stay here again the next time we visit Tropea.
