About this cottage rental
Vineyard views, sweeping sunsets and misty mornings. In a sought-after location at the top of the hill with two pubs within a few minutes’ walk and miles of hiking from the doorstep; The Cottage is perfect for a calm break in the charming Cotswold village of Amberley.
Inside the Cottage...
There’s plenty of space for relaxing, socialising and dining. A living room with smart TV, fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful vintage dining space welcome you upon entering the cottage.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge (including seperate wine fridge), toaster, kettle and coffee making equipment. Complimentary tea, coffee, oil, seasoning, fresh milk and butter are provided. We also offer our guests a welcome hamper with local wine and treats.
There are several outside spaces - a front bench for admiring the sunset, a back patio and our beloved garden terrace seating area which lies under wisteria and apple trees.
Upstairs arranged over two floors are two double bedrooms with king sized beds, Emma mattresses and quality soft cotton bedding. A further snug single room with pull out beds can be made up for smaller guests. The cottage offers plenty of sleeping space for either two couples, a group of friends or a family.
The middle floor main bedroom is a stunning art filled space with a dressing area, roll top bath and original fresco mural to add a bit of magic while you bathe.
On the top floor you’ll find the second double bedroom with incredible views out across the Woodchester Valley and vineyards. Here you’ll also find the ‘snug’ room and another shower room.
We love the cottage's simple charm and our special collection of artwork made by visiting artists and designers. If you are looking for a slice of quintessential cotswold village life with a creative twist then look no further.
The Area...
The cottage is located in the picturesque village of Amberley, which has all the charm you would expect in the cotswolds and some of the best views in the cotswolds. There is a quaint village shop and several brilliant pubs (our favourite is the Black Horse with its beautiful sunset views) so you need never leave but we are at the heart of the five valleys so its a great base from which to explore.
Within 10/15 minutes short drive you will be in some of the cotswolds most bustling market towns: Stroud and its fantastic farmers market is a favourite. Further afield you can be in the ever beautiful Bath (site of countless period dramas and Jane Austin fame) within a 40 minute drive. Cheltenham, another regency favourite is also 40 minutes in the other direction. Stroud train station has direct links to London Paddington in 1 hour 25 minutes so if you fancy a day in the city during your stay this is also perfectly viable.
Some things we love...
We love taking a drive to the charming town of Tetbury for Antique shopping or heading to bustling Nailsworth for boutique artisan shopping. This area offers a more eclectic and creative side of the cotswolds with a thriving community of artists, musicians and crafts people so its always worth checking if there are any exhibitions or live music happening. We have a handy local listings guide in the cottage so you can take a look.
Our favourite place to eat has to be the Woolpack in Slad - this iconic pub has a brilliant menu and is shrouded in history - its a must visit. We also love Williams Kitchen in Nailsworth for a delicious bit of fish.
House Rules
- No smoking - we have a lot of lovely smells in the cottage and would prefer smokers to head into the garden away from the house please.
- No events or parties under any circumstances - this is a very quiet village and so is not suitable for loud parties or those wishing to let of steam. Come to relax and unwind instead!
- We have lovely neighbours so would appreciate that music and noise is limited after 10.30pm, particularly in the outside spaces.
- Our garden space is on different levels with some steep steps. We recommend that children are supervised in the garden at all times.
- If you are coming with small ones pleasw let us know and we can set up the travel cot and high chair for you if needed. Note that the cottage stairs are steep and it is advised to keep an eye on children at all times.

One of the loveliest properties we’ve ever stayed in.
The location is perfect, unbroken views of glorious Woodchester Valley from every floor. Proximity to the antique stores and vintage stores of Stroud is perfect. Surreal Minchinhampton common on the doorstep. Lots of lovely scenic walks very close by.
The house is very well-equipped so we could cook easily. It’s kindly pre-stocked with wine, milk, eggs, coffee, tea, spices, condiments, extra virgin olive oil, olives and home-made marmalade and only the good stuff too!!
We felt pampered by the luxurious touches, bath and shower rooms filled with divine toiletries, floors covered with fluffy lambs wool fleeces. Extremely comfortable beds.
The walls are tastefully covered with calming artworks sympathetic and complementary to landscape outside and the style of the property. I immediately felt very calm in this space, in fact I didn’t mind the terrible weather outside, was happy to stay inside and just watch.
The Black Horse pub, perched on the edge of the valley with awesome views is a 5 min walk. It’s very friendly with great food and drinks.
Many thanks to Katie for providing such a wonderful home from home. We will certainly return, I can’t wait!
