The house was good enough for a long weekend stay for the two of us. We slept in the room with the queen bed. The mattress was not particularly comfortable. The 2nd bedroom had a full sized bed, which we did not use. The bathroom was a bit dim, even with the light (it's on the perimeter of the mirror) turned as bright as it goes. The kitchen was adequate stocked and even offered a small basket of snacks and some coffee items. There were mouse droppings in a cupboard with foil and some other items and some dead bugs on the floor near the bottom of the couch. The hot tub was nice, especially after hours of hiking each day. There was a gravel area to park in at the top of the hill and then steps to walk down to get to the house, which was stated on the listing. Overall, it's a decent place to stay.

Based on the description of the place, we weren't sure what to expect. However, it gave us a pretty clear expectation, so even though it wasn't anything super fancy, we didn't feel like it was lacking anything. It had everything we needed and was a nice, quiet, comfortable home base while we visited a new city. Everything was clean and cozy.

Our two night stay was, overall, very good. My rating does not accurately reflect the property itself, which was quiet, secluded, yet very close to everything. It was nicely appointed and comfortable. The issue, however, mainly comes from the communication with the host. I sent a message a couple days before our stay asking whether the grill on site was gas or charcoal, just so we'd know to pack charcoal, if necessary. There was no acknowledgement of or response to the message. Not a huge deal (The grill is gas, btw). While we were there, however, we noticed several mouse droppings in the silverware drawer, as well as a gnawed bag of doritos set out on top of the microwave for guests. Not the end of the world. Mice happen. I assumed the host wasn't aware. So we made sure to wash dishes and silverware before use. I sent the host a message informing them of what we found, along with photos. It's been days, and still zero communication from the host. This is the part that is unacceptable. What if we'd had a real issue during our stay and weren't able to reach them? As I said, the rating here is more in regards to the host, NOT the property, which was quite nice, all things considered. I would definitely recommend reaching out to the host before booking to see if the rodent issue was handled, but you're rolling the dice on whether they'll even answer.
