About this apartment rental
CIN: IT008031C2ICF6MEFR
SASSO6 is arranged over two floors, connected by a stairway with beautiful vaulted ceilings and slate stairs worn smooth over the centuries. Two very large double bedrooms and a small en suite children’s bedroom easily accommodate two families. Measuring 140 x 70 cm, the stacked children’s beds are suitable up to pre-teen and can be split to provide four separate beds.
The bedrooms have thick stone walls, cool in summer and cosy in winter. The blue room adjoins the medieval tower and features the original chestnut timber beam and ceiling, now carefully reinforced with a steel beam.
The kitchen / dining / living space is fully equipped with quality appliances, including Bosch induction hob, oven and large refrigerator; dishwasher; washing machine; and the usual small appliances, but rarely used for dining in summer.
Spacious outdoor terrace dining with Weber BBQ is used for breakfast, lunch and dinner for six months of the year. The low stone wall is a good spot for an in-between siesta (mattresses and cushions provided) and the ever changing light on the olive groves and over the sea all the entertainment you need (with good broadband for the occasional rainy day).
Exclusive use of the shared swimming pool from 12.00 to 18.00, or by arrangement outside those hours. The pool is near the bottom of the garden (down a steep path), surrounded by bushes and an overhanging olive tree. The water is cleaned by electrolysis so little chlorine is used and it feels more like wild swimming than a typical pool. Children must be accompanied by adults in the garden and pool area, which have steep terraces.
The owners use the property for their extended family events and put a lot of thought and care into creating a clean and comfortable home from home, whether on holiday or working remotely.
Indoors, the en suite bathroom has shower over bath, suitable for bathing small children. A second family bathroom has a walk-in, unframed glass shower and all new fittings, easy to maintain in clean and hygienic condition.
The region
Liguria is the coastal strip in northwest Italy that runs from the French border in the west to the picturesque Cinque Terre fishing villages, east of Genoa. The ancient village of Moltedo lies in the hills between the sea and the mountains, overlooking the Italian Riviera. Even Italians agree that Liguria offers one of Italy’s best climates; hot but not sweltering in summer and mild in winter, making it a year-round destination. It’s common to sea swim until late October.
The region offers fantastic hill walking and cycle tracks through the olive groves while the apartment is just 15 minutes from Porto Maurizio and the Riviera beaches, known locally as the Riviera di Fiori for its extensive flower trade. About halfway between Nice and Genoa airports, local destinations include: San Remo 40km, for jazz and its flower market; the elegant resort of Alassio 25km; Cervo 10km, famous for its al fresco concerts; and Monte Carlo 70km.
A word about cars and parking. Moltedo was built for people and mules, not cars. Most streets are too narrow and steep for vehicles so one cannot drive to the door of SASSO6. There is some parking at the entrance to the village and more at the end of the main street. So one car is better than two, preferably one that will go down the narrow main street, which is just 2.1m wide.
Like many historic buildings, the stairs and steps, and steep slopes in the garden, mean SASSO6 is unfortunately not accessible for people with limited mobility.
Sasso6 is registered with the Tourism Ministry with CIN IT008031C21CF6MEFR and with the Region of Liguria with CITRA 008031-LT-1562. Please be aware that Italian law requires us to upload details from the passports or other ID of all guests to the state police website. And we have to collect €2 per adult per night tourist tax for the Commune of Imperia.

Robin and Rebecca were super hosts and were supported by Rosa, who was available for us at check-in and during our stay at all times. She spoiled us with home-made tiramisú and we enjoyed the hospitality.
The apartment and surroundings look exactly as on the photos - the only thing which took us by surprise were the very narrow streets which are ideal for small cars but not for our SUV - that part we found quite stressful and we were always hoping to find a free parking lot outside of the village. Overall our stay was great - and with a few suggestions how to improve the experience, the apartment deserves five stars.
