The Neighborhood:
Not a hipster in sight? You must be in East Ham, the resolutely traditional East End neighbourhood between Stratford and Barking, known for its bustling urban vibe and only eight miles from central London! It has a fine civic quarter in Barking Road with an imposing Edwardian town hall and clock tower; a busy town centre full of south Indian eateries and nice parks, including Flanders Field (where a young Bobby Moore’s footballing talent was first spotted), and the sprawling greenery of Wanstead Flats less than a mile away.

Artisan Bread and Gastropubs aside (none of that here, I am afraid), East Ham gives Brick Lane a run for its money. It specialises in South Indian food and curry lovers come from far and wide for a taste of its authentic spicy goodness. Some local faves are 'Ananthapuram' and 'The Taste of India Pure Vegetarian'.

Diverse, multicultural and full of creative and community-minded folks, you can join guided tours of several local community spaces, explore the Grade II-listed town hall, the recently restored Boleyn Tavern, and Red Door Studios – a workspace for East Ham creatives. And with Forest Gate, Stratford and the Olympic Village nearby, there’s no shortage of things to do and see!

Getting Around:
Your closest stations are:
✦ Woodgrange Park (overground) - 10 minute walk
✦ Manor Park (Elizabeth Line) - 11 minute walk

East Ham Transport:

East Ham is in Zone 3 and 4 of London’s transport network. The station is served by the District Line, and the Hammersmith & City line. There’s also Upton Park nearby. Journey times to central London take around half an hour on the Tube.

East Ham is less than a mile from Forest Gate Station, which is served by Elizabeth Line trains. Journeys into Liverpool Street Station on this line take just 13 minutes.

The Greenway runs through the south of the ward enabling a safe cycling and walking route through to Stratford.
