During your stay, I will communicate with you mostly through email and AirBnb text messages. You can also ring the doorbell at the front entrance of the house and we will respond immediately if available.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit more enjoyable.
We are located on a quiet road in a rural, mountainous area of Salt Spring Island. Expect to encounter free-range sheep and chickens from nearby farms and a family of deer crossing the property.
There are regular sightings of eagles, ravens and butterflies in the sky. Owls are rarely seen — but are often heard “hooting” to one another as they hunt down through Cranberry Valley at night.
Our road is part of the popular “Blackburn Loop” — perfect for an hour-long, country walk or run. We are convenient to other walking paths and trails in and around the Cranberry Valley, including Mt Maxwell, one of BC's most spectacular viewpoints.
Location
We are located in the geographical centre and mountainous area of Salt Spring Island - just a three-minute drive from the restaurants, shops and ocean-front boardwalk of Ganges town. The main ferry terminals, Long Harbour and Fulford Harbour are 10 to 15 minutes away, respectively.
Getting Around
Cycling - Salt Spring is a large island with varied terrain - flat to mountainous. There are few cycle paths and the roads are narrow, winding and usually one lane in each direction. The speed limit outside of town is 80 km/h. For these reasons, cyclists on the island usually opt for an electric bike (available for rent in Ganges).
Bus - There is bus service, but it is infrequent and runs only in the main road between the Long Harbour and Fulford ferry terminals. Salt Spring is one of the few places where hitch-hiking is actually safe, friendly and frequently used by locals.
Taxi - We do not offer a transportation service. But if you are going out for a night on the town, taxi service is available.
All things considered, to get to our location, and to access the best sights on the island, your best bet remains travelling by personal vehicle.
What to Do and See
Salt Spring Island, BC, is the largest of the southern Gulf Islands and affords a great variety of sights and activities.
Delight your senses by strolling through an aromatic lavender farm, signing up for a wine-tasting tour or by visiting one of the many local art galleries and pottery studios.
Enjoy the panoramic ocean views at Ruckle Point Provincial Park. Hike up Mt Erskine and be charmed by the fairy doors along the way. Swim in the sea at Vesuvius Bay or spend an leisurely afternoon at Cusheon Lake.
Saturday Market
Not to be missed is the bustling Saturday market (May through Oct). You’ll find a wide selection of beautiful, locally produced jewellery, arts and crafts — as well as gorgeous organic fruits and vegetables sold directly to you from the farmer.
For Foodies

Awesome little spot a short drive from town. Quiet and peaceful surroundings, cute cabin (with AC which was great while we were there), nice private patio to hang out on. Would definitely stay again.

Truly one of the best b&b stays ever- David and Steve have such a beautiful property, it is super central, the cottage/suite was super clean and comfortable, and the cedar hot tub and gardens were incredible. They were super welcoming and gave some great recommendations on things to check out on the island. Plus we deeply appreciated being able to bring our small dog with us!
