Hosts not ready to rent to paying guests - noisy, not clean, chaotic

There is ample parking outside. It is in a quiet location. En-suite.

Host and his family had some major disagreements and argued loudly while we were present. First inside the house, then the host went outside and had argument with someone over the phone right under our window. They quiet down only around midnight despite having been told by one of us much earlier that we need a good night sleep. There was a strong smell of smoke in the house as the host smoked at the entrance door from the kitchen to the backyard. The host did not care much about us, we were given the keys from the house and basically could sleep in the room, and that was it. He did not even walk up to the room with us, just said "go up the stairs, it's the room on the left" and kept playing an online game on his phone. I doubt he noticed at all that there were two of us! Fridge was *very* dirty (we stored our food containers there). Kitchen counters were unclean, with some food leftovers and dirty dishes left on it. Overall really untidy and did not look like they were ready to welcome guests in there. We could not use the kitchen nor living room at all. In the morning, I found that the kitchen door was locked but as the living room was unlocked and had a set of keys in them, I tried one of the keys and it unlocked the kitchen. About 20mins later, all doors were locked, and we were unable to use the kitchen at all. When we were leaving around 9:45AM or so, I tried to shout out "hello" in the hallways, to have someone to give the keys back to, but there was no reply. I've no idea where the host was. I just left the keys on the counter and left the house unlocked, not knowing if someone is inside at all. Very uncomfortable thing to do - making the guest feeling responsible for the host's house! Overall, this was a very strange and unpleasant stay and we won't stay there again.
