Providing great accommodation for up to 8 guests this lovely holiday home with views to the Lake and mountain is perfectly positioned with all amenities you could need close by!
Split across two levels the ground floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living area plus a large internal access garage. Head upstairs and you will find an open plan modern kitchen that flows out into gorgeous gardens. The back garden is fully fenced and completely private - your own little oasis.
There is a further two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. You can enjoy lovely lake and mountain views as well as the picturesque night lights of Taupo from the upstairs lounge and front deck.
Right next door at the Hilltop Shopping centre you will find a dairy, hairdresser, beauty salon, tailor as well as Grasshopper fish, chips and chinese takeaways and The Mole & Chicken a very popular family restaurant.

Property was as described and that lake view was beautiful! Great location, walkable to town through residential neighborhoods. Well appointed kitchen had everything we needed. The layout was usual but created a lot of spaces so that there would be room for many people without feeling like you’re all on top of each other. The washer and dryer were easy to use and laundry soap was provided. Being able to park your own car in the garage was also a very nice perk.
The only downside is that the property is a bit dated and could use some TLC. The upstairs mattresses were older and dipped in the middle and we either couldn’t find the light switches for the lights in the back yard or the bulbs were burned out. The dining room ceiling and wall had some obvious water damage that hadn’t been repaired. Also, the Nespresso machine needed to be descaled and we were forced to run the full descaling cycle to clear the reminder so we could make coffee.
Overall, the location and amenities served our needs well, but with the fixes and maintenance stuff we ran into I couldn’t rate it 5 stars. We told the property manager so hopefully they fixed the easy things for future guests!

Absolutely loved the location and layout of this house. It is named Top of the Lake for a reason. The view is even better than the picture in the listing. With tons of windows all around, you can see the lake and the surrounding mountains, and experience a gorgeous sunset from just about anywhere in the living area. The house is also a convenient to walk to the lake (although uphill on the way back) and a short drive to town. The garden was totally private. The hot tub looked amazing – unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use it. We did take advantage of the gas grill for multiple meals, which was awesome! The kitchen was well appointed with dishes, glasses, pots, pans, etc. And super organized with pictures of what belonged in each drawer, shelf, and cupboard. Made it so easy to find everything. Our family of 8 fit around the dining table for meals together. Guests have access to the large garage. We used it to store our luggage and extra items. The washer and dryer are in the garage, which worked out fine. The owner/mgmt. company was very responsive – they answered any questions we had promptly. We appreciate them having a highchair that we could rent, and appreciated the late check-out. The only downside is that the carpet and the wooden blinds show signs of age, and the carpet had an unpleasant odor, which went away when the doors and windows were open to let fresh air in the house. Even with that I would recommend this property to everyone.

We had a great time staying at this lovely "bach" in Taupo. It has heaps of room, perfect location and is an oasis on rainy days. And, with teenagers, great wifi too

Great layout for dinners and hanging out but close (drive) to all the main attractions and short walk to playground and the water.

Amazing property, many options for large groups as is a very large property. Amenities and location were very good. Little hiccup when arrived as the code I was given to open the property didn't work. The garden was really good and self contained (great for small people)
Couple of things to mention/help improve: Outdoor furniture (lounge chairs) are a write off... I was lying reading a book and they just collapsed cause too old, wood just crumbled. Don't leave this items cause you think they "look good" they don't and they can create a far greater accident that they in my case ( neck bang and back scratch)
Also, would be nice to have dish wash soap and laundry powder available... there was none.

the property was large enough to accomodate us all. Amazing views and close enough to everything. The property could do with some TLC. The garden isn't very 'usable' as its a dust bowl and thistle weeds.. so i'm glad we don't have little kids who need to tun around. The wall lights on the stairs are loose and the ceiling in the lounge has a portion falling away with a large crack that you should attend to. ( its obvious but above the rear sofa by the garden door)
Two toilet seats lids have large splits in them - Just fyi really so you can replace them.
We had a lovely time there and its well appointed to feel like a home from home , nice for next door pub and chip shop but in reality town is only 4 mins away !!

This is by far the worst experience i have encounter with via Book a Bach. This bach is listed in multiple platform. When I enquire for this property, I've asked if they allow free cancellation in the event of a regional lockdown - They do, which is good!
We made the payment immediately, but failed to received any instruction on the access. We thought it will only be sent closer to check in date. A few days before traveling to Taupo, I had sent a couple of messages to get the instruction to the property. Only to received a message on the day that the bach was doubled booked and they have another unit available. We had booked a 4 bedroom house but got downgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment without any form of compensation.
When i questioned on the number of bedrooms, the response received - "Unfortunately this is the only property that we have available so I am unable to offer a 4 bedroom alternative. If the 4 bedroom is your preference, I will call the other guests and move them to that apartment so you can stay at the original house with four bedrooms." This just goes to show how unprofessional it is that their only response was to "kick" the other party out of their booking so we could have the 4 bedroom when it is their system that messed up. We weren't that fuss and didn't want to disrupt the other party and agreed to stay in the 3 bedroom apartment. We have 2 young kids, so we make do by squeezing them both in the master bedroom with us so my in laws can have their own space.
We checked in at 4pm and it was indeed a beautiful unit. Brand new and very clean. Although the unit was quite far from town, the new furnish made up for it. Upon entering, we switch on the air conditioning to cool the house down as it was one of the hottest summer we ever experienced. After an hour, the house was still hot as an oven, so I've dropped a message and called the property manager and she only responded at 8pm. She said she couldn't get a contractor out to look at the issue and may try to get one the next day. I've asked for alternative solution for her to provide some fans and very rudely she response that she can't do that and if we are not happy about it we can check out now and she will refund us. 8pm at night with young and old at peak period at taupo, this is absurd. Apart from that the upstairs curtain was infested with beetles. No Compensation given apart for another free night stay if we booked again! What a service this has been!

Awesome place for a girls trip, great view and a perfect amount of beds and bathrooms and well set up to cook and relax. Highly recommend!
