About this apartment rental
French country living in the heart of regional Victoria. The Vicarage At Clunes is one of the state's oldest residences. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy luxury accommodation close to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. The three large bedrooms all open onto landscaped gardens via French doors, the sumptuous lounge invites cozy nights by the fire, as does the library. There are multiple outdoor entertaining areas. Situated in the heart of Clunes and close to the Pyrenees wine region.
The space
The Vicarage At Clunes was built in 1862 by the renowned colonial architect Leonard Terry, during the Gold Rush he designed many of the public buildings in Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong. The Vicarage is unique in Victoria, deeply inspired by the French country villas of the period, the brick house features bay windows in both front rooms, a grand arched entrance with stunning stained glass windows, verandahs on two sides (originally there were three), the slate roof sweeps down to the verandah edge. The home features five fireplaces (three available for guests to use). most rooms open on to the covered verandah or the sunny terrace via original 160 year old French doors. We have fully restored the home with a sympathetic eye on it's history. As much of the character as possible has been retained or enhanced. There is a relaxing library room and a fully equipped kitchen that will inspire the chef in you, along with a veggie garden and orchard (seasonal of course).
The main courtyard faces on to the library, lounge and kitchen and is ideal for outdoor dining, cocktails or just relaxing with a book. There is also a small, central courtyard complete with a deep cast iron outdoor bath for more intimate relaxation. Off the side veranda, with access from two of the bedrooms is a wood fired, stainless steel hot tub imported from New Zealand (You might have seen one in the NZ tourism ads). In the rear yard, is another relaxation area with a gas bbq and a massive fire pit converted from an Indian dahl cooking pot.
With so many relaxation and entertaining areas inside and out, you will be spoilt for choice.
