Car parking was free
Rooms very tired - very dated and old
Service in the restaurant and at check in was not the best - I could tell staff were stretched and there wasn’t enough of them to provide good service - eg the bar and restaurant area spent 15 mins waiting at the table for waitress to come back after seating us (she said she would) and then didn’t - went to bar and waiting further 10 mins for serving as others in front - wouldn’t say that it was especially busy though!!
When my dinner did arrive - it was the best part of my stay - chicken supreme with mash. Delicious, generous portion with lots of sauce!
General areas of the hotel were tired and old.
It was cheap so I suppose you get what you pay for…

we got to our room at 8pm and it was freezing its winter andthe window was open
on the bed was a thin quilt we asked the chambermaid the next day and she gave us another one
tuesday morning at 7am a beer delivery arrived and the men kicked the barrels onto the side and then kicked it to roll to the end of the lorry and off the end
wednesday morning at 8am hammering sawing and banging just above us
you go away to rest and you get this
the carpets in the hotel should be burnt they are filthy
its a nice hotel but it needs to be looked at
send someone in undercover

Although the service was brilliant, the rooms are outdated with mould in showers, white mould on desk, maybe another room would have been better. WiFi was brilliant too, bedding changed daily overall a nice stay. The mattress was a tad hard

This is an old hotel that is rundown. Breakfast staff were nice.

Parking was secure and free, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious tea and coffee making well stocked. Room had a nice view of the minster, weather was cold but the room was well heated. For what we paid for the room it was definitely value for money. Breakfast was buffet and again great value for what we paid, the receptionist gave us a money off voucher on check in as we did not put it on our reservation. Hotel is in a good location for shops and bars and a short taxi ride to the docks area.

Plentiful free Parking outside of the rear main doors, change in circumstances meant arriving a day late but no problem at check in, only issues would be no plug sockets by the beds and the ones available were too close to surfaces which meant hard to use due to leads on chargers and dryers etc, check out at 11am yet really loud awful and annoying organ music and singing from 9.30 am meant no chance of a sleep in.

I arrived into Grimsby Night time.
I was followed by a hoodie on my way to the hotel, thankfully the entrance wasn’t far from the street.
Check in went very well.
On getting to my 2nd floor room as I walked through the corridors, I saw another male peeping at me from the corner of another corridor. It felt so unsafe.
The rooms have single locks keys and chains only. They could do with security locks.
My room was outdated with old carpets and furniture from the Victorian Era. It had a strong woody, stuffy, nicotine like smell. I had to keep the windows open throughout my stay.
Although the bed and linen were comfy, the bedside and lamp surfaces were dusty and the glass lamp holders had water marks.
The bathroom shower pressure was minimal. The toilet and bathroom, although clean, looked so old. There was an old dirty non slip mat in the bath tub. Having said that,I had some good sleep on all 3 nights booked. The area is quiet.
It’d be lovely if windows, interior decor and furniture were Morden/ refurbished.

The property needed a good paint. Also carpets were filthy, our carpet in our room was ripped. The room was cleaned daily which was good. There was building work going on outside right by hotel. We had fights going on with guys who used to drink and do drugs all day. They sat on benches by hotel. We saw to girls fighting. Also in our hotel there was a 30th birthday party in the week which we wernt told about. The music of dj was really loud. We complained 3 times but it carried on for 4 hours. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. Continental or full english.

Clean, tidy and close to town. Friendly, helpful staff, comfy beds and free parking for less than £50 a night. St James Hotel exceeded my expectations.

Rooms were a little tired but for the price it was ok. The bar was cheap which was a nice change. The rooms were very very warm bordering on uncomfortable but again a change from the hotels cutting cost by turning the heating off. I think i would stay here again. So all in all worth the price but i would've been disappointed if I'd booked direct with the hotel. As it was a big difference in price.

This hotel definately needs refurbishing or knocking down the staff do their best but the whole place is awful . In our room the bath had sticky pads off an old mat stuck in the bath which were all dirty ,cracked tiles , peeling paint . The room was extremely hot to say it was cool outside there was a fan but it only moved the heat around we slept on top of the beds but were still sweating and didn’t get much sleep. We left early next morning couldn’t wait to leave very grubby place

The issue with this hotel is not the staffing or overall condition, it is the surrounding area and in particular the local individuals who frequent the benches adjacent to the minster. I witnessed aggressive arguments, two women fighting, the agressor having several children and a pushchair with her as she assaulted another women, then at 03.00am a very loud couple with a dog and child on a scooter passing the hotel, shouting and screaming for fun. I checked out a day early and found something else.

It would help if the post code for the car Park was clearly shown. I spent ages going around in circles before a helpful member of staff put me right. The room was not too bad but I certainly had no intention of walking barefoot on the carpet, it was well beyond a need to be cleaned or replaced. For the size of the place the parking was insufficient and when I came to leave I found two idiots had blocked me in. I was unable to locate them via reception. another guest helped me.
