The property is outdated and the female manager lies to get out of servicing guests. The hotel does not have simple amenities like microwaves or coffee makers and their laundry services are very limited and only available early in the day. The rooms are NOT AT ALL like the pictures. They are very dark and gloomy, dungeon like almost with no views. The service from the staff is poor, they don’t put in much effort at the front desk to help with anything. Definitely not a 4 star worthy hotel, I’ve had better service at many other 2 star or 3 star hotels.

We have stayed at the Michelangelo more times that we can count. Beyond its perfect location for a Theatre District visit to NYC, the never-changing hospitality and comfortable accommodations have merited our loyalty. Cesar will meet you at the door and Henry will make sure you needs are met--both are longtime employees and the essence of friendly hospitality. These are some of the largest rooms in Midtown. Many fine restaurants nearby and public transportation is easily accessed. But, for us, the bottom line is that we always feel welcome and valued by the Michelangelo team. And we'll be back for our annual visit next year.

We always stay at the Michelangelo on our annual visit to NYC.
The staff are wonderful from the front door to the front desk and beyond.
We love the location and prefer a smaller hotel.
A few upgrades are needed but it will continue to be our New York home away from home.

The hotel services were great. The hotel employees were friendly and kind. The hotel hallways and some of the furniture could use some upgrading ,but overall a beautiful hotel.

The vast majority of our stay was lovely. We did encounter two unpleasant interactions however. I had requested an early check in due to certain travel arrangements and was told it would not be an issue. When we arrived at the hotel, June, a front desk staff member contacted housekeeping to request our room be turned over as soon as possible. As I stood at the front desk listening to the conversation I was appalled by the way the head of housekeeping spoke to June. She was very nasty to June and very dismissive of our request. Approximately two and one half hours later we finally changed our room from a suite to an executive king. The second unpleasant encounter was with Kendrick at the front desk. On the final night of our stay we arrived at our room only to find that our keys no longer opened our hotel room door. We understand these little glitches can happen so I took the elevator down to the lobby. Kendrick was at the front desk and I was the only other person there. He was writing on a clipboard and without looking up said, "You will have to wait." No excuse such as I will be right with you in a moment or any other customary pleasant exchange. His attitude was extremely rude and his demeanor exuded a terribly unpleasant attitude. As we finished our encounter and I received two new keys there was no "I am sorry for your inconvenience" or a "please have a pleasant evening." As an international traveler for over 40 years I have never encountered such bad behavior.

Excellent hotel and service. Everyone was very attentive and nice.
Of note as well, the elevator was the fastest elevator I have ever seen. Wait time was very short.
Would definitely stay again. Go see the Summit.

The beds were too soft and they did not have any firm beds. So I slept on the floor.
The tables were not in good working condition.

We stayed at The Michelangelo for three nights. Everything was perfect. Rooms were clean, beds were extremely comfortable and the location was very convenient. Plus, Teodora was the best doorman EVER!

The rooms are nice sized, but a bit dated. The bed in my room was uneven and the bathroom area didn’t smell as fresh as one would like. All in all, I thought for the price it all was an acceptable experience for the price I paid.

It was my third stay at the Michelangelo. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the room are big. Those 2 features are very rare in NYC. Highly recommend to stay there.

Walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Broadway theaters, and Central Park.
This hotel requires lots of love. It is outdated, the carpets are dirty and stained, and the walls need some fresh paint.

The greetings were wonderful, the check in was smooth and the room was beautiful. The tub needed some TLC and fresh caulking. The bed skirt was torn a bit and the carpet was stained in a few places.

The location is excellent. Quick & easy access to everything from the theaters, Times Square to 5th Ave , Rockefeller center, Radio City music hall to the subway (50th St sub station is just around the corner). The beds are heavenly. The staff & service are exceptional! The pistachio & ricotta cake in the bar is devine!
This boutique hotel is the absolute best. What a peanut find! We will stay here every visit to NYC!

We had a fabulous time at the Michaelangelo Hotel. Although it is an older hotel the staff is beyond amazing! They are polite and caring. The even pushed me in a wheelchair to the Broadway theater next door when I hurt my knee during the stay. We have never been treated so well. I hope we will have the opportunity to stay there again.
