The hotel is very closed to the beach and restaurants
The installation need upgrades building is old
We had a very good time there the beach is amazing

Mainly stayed here to be on the beach which was wonderful. Beach chairs were provided too. Rooms are very outdated and the buildings need work. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Appreciated the free shuttle to St. Armand's Circle. If you plan on being at the beach and not the room, this is a great option.

Great location and place!

Room had roaches. Room was In disrepair. Air Conditioner was not cooling. I could only control the fan and not the temperature. Room was very hot. The resort outside was in disrepair as well. The pool area was littered and no one would pick up the trash. Pool had no light making it very dangerous for guests. I can’t believe the level of damage that can be observed throughout the entire resort. Very dirty overall inside and out. Staff was friendly but appeared overwhelmed at times. Short staffed. Staff did upgrade me for the last night however the AC was not cold at all in that room as well. It is a shame cause I stayed at the Sandcastle in 2016 and although it is an older building, it was in good shape at that time. During our stay, Tropical Storm Debbie affected the Sarasota area. Staff did not take any preventive measures to secure pool furniture or other loose equipment in the area.

We have stayed here about 5 times, and each time it gets worse and worse. They are going to be tearing it down and building a new one, so, they don't care about how it is now. Not enough outlets in the room, and the room we stayed in last, 101, was the worst one of them all. Bed wasn't comfortable, no microwave and the ice machines don't work except 1 in the whole place. I will say, Rose, one of the cleaning staff is wonderful, and Eric, the bartendar is great. But, that is about the only nice things there anymore. Very disappointed!!!

The hotel is very old and ran down. Dead bugs in the room.
Charging too much for the condition.

This was our 3rd visit to The Sandcastle. It is a lovely peaceful resort and yes, it is very dated but has an old style charm which we like. The beds are very comfy and rooms are very clean with a beautiful sea view. We have enjoyed all of our stays here

We had a great time, everyone was extremely generous and helpful, had everything we needed. The reason I don't give it 5 star rating is because everything was really old and hasn't been remodeled since before I was born likely. However it was extremely affordable.

Would not recommend. From the receptionist having a mental breakdown at check in to the plumbing not working.

The first room I was given upon arrival had roaches, the sink in the bathroom and tub were clogged up, and the phone in the room did not work. When I went to the front desk to notify them of the problems, the manager was very condescending and rude and ask me to if I did not have problems like that in my own house, and that there was a reason why they were the cheapest hotel in the area! She changed my room at 11pm at night we had to patch up our stuff and move to another room, that was slightly better, at least I didn’t see roaches!

I didn’t stay for the following reasons:
1). The line at the check-in front desk was too long and waited close to 1hour. 2). Finally, when my turn arrived to check-in, I was told that the room wasn’t ready. 3). I demanded to see the room but the female clerk said that she’s alone therefore, don’t have anyone available to show me the room. 4). I demanded to speak with a manager finally, she arrived and she said to request the full refund from Hotels.com since the hotel property won’t demand payment from Hotels.com

Property has been degraded from water exposure and lack of upkeep. Staff is friendly, but rooms are simply in poor condition.

Was a pleasure be Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach.
Confortable bed.

Small balcony that you have to stand to see over and it's shared with room next to you! Roaches!!!

This place should be torn down. It's so dated and worn out. It's as clean as one could get something this old.
I would never stay there again.
I do have to say the bed was comfortable. But, that's the only good this to say about this place.

The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The choice of 2 pools was very nice. The rooms were cleaned every day and the property was also very clean. The resort fee covered towels, bottled water, beach chairs and umbrellas and some outdoor activities. The drink prices were reasonable. The beach was STUNNING! My only complaint was the rooms are old and the ac really didnt keep up. But overall, we loved it here.

I never imagined that I would pay around $270 to arrive and find a place so old, dirty, without the slightest concern for customers. I would be ashamed to offer to sell such a dirty place to customers! I believe that you should not work with this type of hotel, which is still called a Resort! Thank God I was able to cancel, and I hope I can get my money back. I would prefer to sleep in my car, than a place like this.

The property needs an urgent maintenance and update. The room has a leak in the bathroom from upstairs. The staff is very nice and attentive. The beach is beautiful and clean.

Liked that it was on the beach in a great location. The rest of the hotel was very, very dated. I think the property is going to be leveled somtime soon so i imagine that they are not putting much money into it.

Loved the historical aspects of this property. Of course because of the age it is not a newer facility but has much charm. Very great location with fab beach. Will be torn down in Sept.

Terrible hotel with roaches crawling out of the bath tub. I'm surprised this is called a resort, we checked out within the hour

Old hotel which needs to be renovated. Air conditioner didn’t work properly it was super hot in the room. Location is the best.

The check in took almost an hour. The bathroom was old and stained and there were two cockroaches on the wall. You could hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The breakfasts was expensive for a standard. The only plus was the beach right on the property. We paid for the trip ahead of time and were charged again so we were double charged and then the phone lines to the resort were down according to their booking line which seemed very sketchy to say the least. I felt like it was a scam.

The rooms are dated but very clean, housekeeping is amazing n very helpfu. Always has plenty of towels. Rose n Crystal are the best!!The restaurant is wonderful, we ate breakfast there! So they also will put out beach chair, however it’s at their own time. I went out when it was early I asked n he was rather rude n said go pick a chair they are out there.! I found one n mentioned umbrella, he told me later. I watched him get 3 other pps umbrellas before he got mine. But we had a great stay!!!!!

Location on beach. Old Florida feel. Chairs and umbrella, waters and towels. Tiki bar was great for drinks and food. Clean. Beautiful pools. Comfortable beds.

Location was great. Beachfront which was important to us. Service was great. All our interactions were positive. Sheena checked us in, we arrived late. She was very helpful and informative. We were checked in quickly.
I love love how the resort had water available everywhere for its guest. It is so easy for kids t dehydrate, it was nice not to be nickeled and dined for water. Thank you for caring about the families that stay here. We will be back next year.

We LOVE, LOVE Sandcastle. It’s our girls’ trip every year. It’s old, so maybe not for princesses, but the beds are really good and the beach, amenities, food, staff, everything is great! We would be heartbroken if they tear this down.
