The room was extremely dirty and outdated, many cockroaches in the room, bathroom was a nightmare. The only good thing was the view.

Place is infested with roaches, everywhere. Turn the light off and they come out to play. Turn the lights on they tend to freeze, then hide. Went to the front desk, they acted like it was all normal, send the housekeeping lady with a bottle of insecticide, proceeded to spray, leaving a strong smell of insecticide inside the room.

Beautiful pool area overlooks beach. Sadly, although the river is less than 50 yards away, all gates leading to the beach are inexplicably padlocked. If a guest wants to access the beach, they must take the long, hot road driven by cars. Our Flat room #403, was bare bones. No microwave oven, no coffee maker, no cups, just a refrigerator and a couple towels. It was a pretty small room. We were only there for about 10 hours so it was all we needed - a place for 4 of us to crash until departing to airport. But the hotel, generally, quiet, clean, and attractive. Check in was easy although they didn't let us in 1 second before the 2pm check-in time. They also didn't give us wifi info (or any other orienting info for that matter) until we realized it was nowhere in the room and went down and asked. The area itself is very safe but fairly far from the Centro where most tourists would want to sight see. It is very convenient to the airport.

I like the convenience store, restaurant, pool, and short walk to the beach. I didn’t like how my room was dirty when I first got there, and I was not aware that the room I booked was actually a private apartment owned by someone other than the hotel. I would have liked that information before-hand. In general it was a nice stay and great if you want to be near the beach.

The first time I stayed in Manaus was 43 years ago, when I stayed in the "original" Tropical Hotel. It was the best hotel in town back then, and as far as I am concerned this new version still is the best Manaus has to offer. It's location can't be beat! Right on the river with fantastic views in any direction you choose to look.

Receptionists make sure you are going to have the worst vacation ever. I showed them my reservation but they still gave me hard time to check in. I needed to contact the owner of the flat. I’m glad she sent me a message before and I could contact her otherwise I will lose everything because the receptionist claims I didn’t have authorization to go to the flat. I showed all the reservations and everything I had from Expedia but it wasn’t enough. Not mention when I check out she wants me to pay for the dinner I already paid in the restaurant because she couldn’t find the payment. Took one hour for them to find it and let me go to the airport.
