This hotel has been renamed The New Hotel Palace. It was grand, beautiful pool area, ornate lobby and sitting areas albeit somewhat dated. The staff was lovely. It was very quiet, guessing that it was off season. The breakfast was not enticing, a bit disappointing. The same foods were out for 2 mornings so there was nothing that was fresh except maybe the loaf of bread to toast.

This is NOT a 5 star - maybe a two star hotel on a good. The hotel is clean but everything is just very old and NOT in a romantic way.
Breakfast is not good!
The city of Marsala is not worth stating in. Go for Mazara instead.

A Charming Stay with Room for Improvement
My family and I recently spent four days at this historic hotel, drawn by its rich background and reputation. The property is impeccably clean, and the staff are incredibly gentle and hospitable. The service is courteous and attentive, reflecting the best of hospitality.
However, considering the hotel’s storied past, we expected a more inclusive and detailed approach to service. While breakfast was included, the quality fell short of our expectations. When I requested eggs sunny side up, slightly turned over, I received overcooked eggs with crispy edges instead. We later learned that the waiters, not trained chefs, were responsible for cooking, which seemed unusual for a hotel of this caliber. The excuse given was the lack of appropriate cookware, which felt inadequate for a property with such a prestigious history.
Another minor issue occurred during breakfast. As a parent of a three-year-old, I made a sandwich for my child and asked the waiter for napkins. To my surprise, he brought paper towels typically used in bathrooms. This oversight seemed out of place in a five-star establishment where attention to detail should be paramount.
Overall, while the hotel offers a beautiful and clean environment with gracious staff, there are areas where improvements are needed, particularly in the dining experience and attention to detail. I would love to return, hoping the management takes these feedback points to heart to enhance the guest

Reviews not great lately but the place is clean and tidy, staff lovely. The room we stayed in was gorgeous well worth the extra for a superior room and the shower was the most powerful I’ve ever used!
Just needs more guests to make it a busy bustling hotel and I’m sure the next reviews will be better!

Hotel is definitely not as seen in the pictures. There is no beach in 200m and location is in the middle of nowhere between warehouses. It may seems like an 5 star hotel but it was more like 2* hotel. Definitely not recommending for people with children since you have like nothing to do there. Rooms and the hotel also stinked and bed sheets were dirty. They also charge you for everything. Tourist trap for sure.
Only good thing was that the personal was friendly.

Faded glory in the extreme, 2* and not 5*, not conveniently located, no communal bar, charged €13 to have a tea brought to the room, I was disappointed by the experience….

The hotel has spacious spaces. The pool and its surroundings are large and not crowded. The pool is fantastic.
Actually it's not European 5*, it's more African. The equipment was a bit outdated, the towels were also very worn. The portions in the restaurant are small, but not because of "fine dining".
The city center is a 15-20 minute walk away. The walk leads through an unpleasant area, it does not feel good to walk home there late at night.
Breakfast is until 10.30, but by 10 o'clock the offer was poor.

The hotel was a great experience in every possible way. We stayed for two extra nights just to enjoy the hotel and Marsala in general.
The hotel is a splendid breath of the old world. Large and airy rooms, exquisite service, wonderful pool and overtly glutenous breakfast combined with a traditional ambience gave an impression of time beyond time. Somehow it felt like we were in a classic movie.
We fully recommend this hotel to the couples that want to spend some quality time.

Very tired hotel. Window view of an upgraded room was on barbed wired parking lot with train tracks. Breakfast an absolute minimum.

Pleasant decorated room with comfortable bed. We stayed in a suite. Very pleasant helpful staff. Easy free parking. Need to drive a short distance to nearby public lot to access the town. Breakfast offerings were on the weak side not in keeping with the character of the hotel.

1. The door to the hotel room never closed properly without repeated attempts and great strength. It was very loud trying to close the door.
2. The remote to the television did not work.
3. The hotel was empty, void of customers yet it took great effort to be relocated to a room where the door closed properly.
4. It was just myself and two other guests in this massive dining room yet the waiter begrudgingly responded when I asked him to heat up the frittata. The frittata was ice cold on the buffet table. He warms the frittata and also brings runny scrambled eggs??? Absurd just completely absurd. I never asked for scrambled eggs.
5. Only three guests in this massive sized palace hotel and they couldn’t get it right.

Our stay was quite nice. Definitely not 5star.
The room we were offered initially was really quite poor. At the back overlooking the railway line. Shower was a bit grubby.
Anyway we were moved to a better room.
The pool isnice and very clean.
Restaurant is very beautiful, breakfast excellent.
The hotel is just showing it’s age, a classic that perhaps needs a bit of TLC?

Second visit . Great setting, looking out on the Mediterranean and just down from historic Marsala producers. Staff is very kind and helpful; rooms are spacious; and the grounds have a majesty few can match. Would definitely book again.
