I normally give raving reviews to capsule hostels in Japan, but man was this a disappointment. I had to find a place to stay for one night and I totally should have paid more. The place was super crowded, the pods were crazy tiny, and there was no storage space. People on my floor (women only), while respectful, were dirty as hell. People took shoes into the room when they should have left the shoes outside in the locker. Worse yet they put shoes on the rack where you can put your luggage and I'd come back to the room with a pair of disgusting smelly platform next to my stuff. I couldn't stand it and was lucky that they gave me a spot next to the window so there's some space on the side. The pod was OK but it's way too many beds in one room. I know it's Tokyo but I've stayed in much better capsules than this one. That said it is indeed very cheap and in a safe neighbourhood which is technically walkable to Ueno (20 min on foot). I can also tell the cleaners do their absolute best to keep this place clean but man 4 (5?6? can't remember) shower stalls for the whole building is just not enough. I made sure I took an early shower before the stall gets wrecked. Otherwise there were enough toilets and sinks on each floor which was appreciated. There's a tiny space upstairs which you can sit and do some work but gets crowded fast. All in all, avoid, come only if you're broke.

Everyone was careful not to make unnecessary noise.
The kitchen was easy to use, and I was looking forward to making meals every day.
It was also nice to be able to talk with people from different countries.

Very friendly staff, very big spacious double private room. Quiet and respectful residents in the other rooms.
Only negative was that the shower wasn't draining properly and when I lifted off the drain cover, it looked pretty nasty.

I was on the fifth floor on a top bunk. Thought I had privacy until I noticed a neighbor sat up in his bunk staring at my through my mirror. Had freezing ac blowing on me at 3am in the morning. Keep in mind it’s December... staff moved me to a different bunk for the following night. If on a top bunk, make sure your bunk isn’t in path of the heater/ac vents. Bathroom counter on my level was disgusting, didn’t feel comfortable putting my toiletry bag down on it. They used a porous wood and there is black mold(?) growing. Showers are in basement, entire basement smells terrible, musty/moldy. Highly suggest the management/owners replaced the individual level counters with something non-porous and got proper ventilation for the basement. Also suggest perhaps adding upper curtains to bunks and shielding from direct ac/heater vents. They must be burning incense here, I didn’t see it but smelled it and my luggage and all my clothing had a strong odor of it once I checked out. Positive aspects there are a few, staff was super friendly and helpful. Sheets and pillows etc were clean. Until I was sure changes/upgrades have been made, I wouldn’t stay here again personally.

The check in was fine, but I do not suggest that anyone stay here because there is MOLD growing in the vents. The mold is especially bad in the shower rooms where it is visible in the ceiling vents and the moldy smelly is very strong. The sinks in the women’s bathroom on the 3rd floor also have mold growing around the wooden sink counters. To cover the smell the staff burn incense on the entrance/ check in floor and put oderizers in the elevators and on each floor. If a mold inspector steps foot in there it would be shut down immediately.

I really enjoyed staying here. The capsules are small but very cozy. Even though you're with a lot of people in a room, you still get enough privacy, no one can see your place.
The only negative comment I can give is towards the other guests. I guess I was unlucky, but the people in my room didn't have any respect at night or in the morning. They put on lights and made so much noise. Ofcourse this is something that is not the fault of the staff.. So if you want to stay here, you have to be respectfull to the other guests!! Make your suitcase the evening before you check out, so you don't wake up the other people in the morning.. And if you come home drunk, that's fine but be a grown up and stay quiet! But everything else was perfect! 🙂

An ok, inexpensive place to stay in Asakusa, with only very basic services provided (usually at a fee). The rooms could have been cleaner - I stayed in the same room for 10 days and didn't see the floor being cleaned once. The bed cubicles also appeared quite dusty.
On the plus side - the beds are good size and give you lots of privacy. There's a lovely terrace on the top floor and the common room, although not large, was very comfortable to use. Really short walk to the subway station and lots of shops and restaurants around. Good wi-fi. Clean bathrooms and toilets, except for lots some hair lingering on the side of the wash basins and showers (this however was due to other guests not taking much care to clean after themselves as all the facilities are cleaned twice a day).

Booked for two nights and ended up staying for 5. The staff were very accommodating and it was no problem extending and staying in the same bed.
Was staying around the same area in another hostel but was not happy so moved here. Not many reviews as they are a new hotel so took a risk and decide to give it a go. Great decision! Perfect quiet local location but a 10 min walk to attractions in Asakusa. Very safe area (like majority of Japan), close to subway station and lots of restaurant choices. Great view from the 6th floor and common area, although small... very cosy.
Very clean and lots of showers. The only negative thing I would write would be that the fouton beds (with just one) are very hard on the body while sleeping) but I ended up getting two and it was just right.
Also, the door locking system is quite annoying as it beeps everytime it opens so bring earplugs or get a bed away from the door.
All in all would stay again if I came to tokyo again!
