My room - more accurately, my little building - was stunning, with three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded by native forest that parted for a water view just beyond. A family of monkeys living in the trees provided entertainment. Each of the hotel's 11 accommodations is, from what I understand, nestled in its own secluded setting - so secluded I never caught sight of another. The hotel staff is charming and endlessly obliging. The continental breakfast, served in room, is best in its class - lavish beyond my experience of breakfast in that category. Plus, there's wonderful entertainment provided by the monkeys who are well aware that breakfast is going on.

The land surrounding the hotel is gorgeous. The villas have lots of glass allowing you to take in the great scenery. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were all very nice.

Wild Grass is a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. It is quite in the middle of nowhere so you can expect to pay a bit more for tuktuks if you use them to go out for the day (cost us 2500 rupees to Dambulla and same for Sigiriya for return travel plus waiting time). It took about 20 mins to Dambulla and to Sigiriya so is nicely positioned in the middle for exploring both.
The staff are friendly and helpful but we found that we generally had to ask twice for things. You should definitely have food at the top of the rock near the hotel. It is a fun experience. But make sure you ask twice! We thought we had booked it but they didn’t do food because we hadn’t confirmed on the morning we wanted it, so we went again the following day. The view up there is amazing. Other things involved asking twice too!
Food was good and they were happy to serve meals in our room when we wanted. Food cost more than elsewhere but was reasonably priced for a boutique hotel. Restaurant doesn’t open until 7pm which was a bit late for our kids.
The swimming pool was a welcome escape from the heat.
The lodges are spread within the trees to feel like a nature experience.
We saw monkeys, a monitor lizard, a rabbit, a jungle fowl and birds from our room.

An incredible place, well located nearby Sigirya and Dambulla, but aside the mainstream flow of tourism. We enjoyed a luxury villa in the middle of the wild, overviewing the lake, among trees and all sorts of birds. Wonderful experience. Very kind and caring staff.
We loved it so much we decided to come back for one more day at the end of our trip.

Amazing , if you are a nature lover. Far from other places, in amongst the jungle setting. Peaceful, quiet & attentive services. Good for total relaxation away from maddening crowd. Only drawback is if you given a room on top floor, the access by way of a not too wide staircase without railings to hold on either side can be tricky & dangerous for elderly guests.

We booked this hotel because the photos looked great and the concept sounded good. In truth the photos oversell the property. It's a stretch to call this a resort, although they do have a pool. The rooms are all small houses which is great from a space perspective, but they seem run down, and we had almost no water pressure so the outdoor shower was standing under an almost cold trickle - not fun. We saw no wildlife really, which was part of the attraction. If this hotel was priced significantly less I would say you'd be getting what you pay for, but it's quite expensive and therefore really didn't live up to our expectations.
