The Story Resort is a nice place to stay for how it looks on the property, and the fact that the pool goes through the entire hotel right from your balcony is extremely nice. However, I can say that the price of it and how far out of the way it is to get to it can dampen the enjoyment unless you have your own mode of transportation around the island. Nonetheless, the staff were kind and I didn't run into many issues. The only small problems were that my door to my room didn't lock completely sometimes, and the room could've been touched up a bit more. However, it was still a nice stay.

The room is spacious, my kids are happy with the space. However, it doesnt have mirror in the room (only small one in the bathroom). The bathroom is also ok space, but the sink is a bit big that there is no space to put on your personal stuff. They have this list of room things that when u accidentally break whatever it is in there, u have to pay for it. And their price is expensive! So, be careful.
The best part of this hotel is the pool. My kids loved it. It is only 4ft deep though, but its so much bigger than normal hotels pool. We might come back to this hotel for the pool, but also hesitating because of that list i mentioned above.

Only the second review for The Story Resort & Spa, as this place is very new.
The location is a bit far from anything by walking, but fairly convenient if you rent a motorbike (aim for 350php a day) a quick 5 minutes to Alona area and the best part of the location is if you head the other direction on the main road you’ll find a gem of a restaurant called Ubecco, which had the best food we encountered on the island. Honestly, the breakfast at The Story was not too good. We always woke up too late to make use of it anyways and since the food was so great down the road, it wasn’t a big deal.
The grounds of the hotel are really pretty, with nice landscaping and trees, and several long pools. If you want quiet then maybe don’t get a room that offers direct access to the pool, since the resort caters to mainland Chinese groups, it can get pretty noisy and there’s also no privacy unless you keep your blinds closed. The upstairs rooms seem nice and have balconies overlooking the pools.
The room comfort was so so, they were still ironing out some details, which I’m sure they’ll continue to improve. The staff, every one we encountered, were warm and helpful. Each person you pass greets you, and not in a fake way.
But the one single factor that made our stay fantastic, and the reason for my good rating of The Story, is the absolutely fantastic attention and service we got from the onsite manager.

LOWEST LEVEL OF SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED
This is because..
1. Ridiculous money exchange rate
- Resort: 1 USD = 40 pesos
- Normal (at Alona Beach): 1 USD = 51 pesos
2. No opener
- I asked the front for a beer bottle opener but they just said "you should bring your bottle and open it at the restaurant". This was very strange because the resort and hotel usually provide wine/beer openers in every room.
3. Trespassing before I checked out
- Although I did not check out, they already cleaned up the room while I am having the breakfast.
Thus, I DO NOT stay here again.
