Enjoyed the lakeviews from the deck and family room. Hummingbirds did not disappoint! The cottage was very well stocked. The bunkie is very nice and located close to the cottage for easy bathroom access. We all loved the outdoor shower.
While the bedrooms were a very good size and bright and airy, the stairs up are very steep and would recommend anyone with mobility issues try to use the bunkie.
Thanks Pat for your quick and welcoming communications.

Our family of 5 including our 3 young adult children and small dog had a great stay at Hummingbird Shore. The cottage was comfortable and clean. The host was great with very detailed instructions on every aspect of the cottage. The highlight for us was the outdoor activities including swimming kayaking and fishing.
Thanks!

This was my first time using VRBO after a decade of using a cottage rental company, so my expectations might be different than others. I appreciate that it must be worrisome to have strangers in your private space, but I did find some of what we experienced surprising.
We were directed to review a binder when we arrived with info about the cottage. It instructed us not to flush anything other than bodily waste and encouraged us not to flush toilet paper at the risk of clogging a sewage tank under the cottage resulting "in a costly (to you) mess". It also asks renters to use an outdoor shower. None of this is mentioned in the online listing and it created some anxiety during the trip. I know it's not uncommon with cottages, but at $500/night, I would have considered other options.
When we arrived the fridge was mostly full. It was difficult to find space for our things.
The cottage is lovely and the lake is magnificent. There are a surprising number of cottages (15 - 20) within view of the dock (and one very close one) but they were very quiet and friendly.
On the last day I had the vacuum out at 8am but it had no suction as the bag was overflowing (no extra bags anywhere). I ended up on hands and knees with a dust pan which made the cleaning process long & chaotic.
I understand renting is stressful, especially if you have a sensitive sewage system, but I would have appreciated knowing that ahead of time (I would have also liked a spare vacuum bag).
