About this house rental

This French Pavillion-styled home-built in 1874 by the architect Charles Henry Edward Blackmann from local sandstone and owned by the Hordern and MacKillop families-invites you to step back in time and enjoy a peaceful escape from the everyday.

The interiors are comfortable and inviting with timber flooring, classic styling, and cosy seating around the open fireplace-the perfect spot to unwind after dinner with a glass of wine, a good book, or a movie on the flat-screen TV. The kitchen retains its period charm while being fully equipped for all your cooking needs, and the separate dining room, equally stylish and cosy, also boasts an open fireplace.

Enjoy the comfort of four generous bedrooms, accommodating up to eight guests, with two bedrooms, two modern bathrooms downstairs, and two more bedrooms paired with a pristine bathroom upstairs. A private upstairs sitting area offers a retreat for quiet relaxation.

Savour the garden and bushland views from the full-length verandah-you might even spot some kangaroos visiting the property! The verandah is ideal for brunch or an alfresco dinner in front of the third open fireplace.

Wander the vast gardens—a magical space for kids-blooming with roses and dahlias and a grand old Anthony Hordern Oak that whispers adventures. Beyond the garden, the property is a working farm with grazing cows and chickens-you can feed the cows and the chickens! This is a great way for the kids to experience rural farm life.

For a meal out, try Alchemy Woodfire Pizza or grab a sweet treat at the Lolly Bug. A short drive to Mt Victoria, Blackheath, or Lithgow offers a variety of family-friendly restaurants and unique cafes.
