TIPS
To move around and stroll by Lake Como, especially in small towns, it is necessary to wear comfortable shoes.
There are many public drinking water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable. You can bring your refillable bottle!
If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy the mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow path that connects the lake towns from Colonno to Griante and passes through Tremezzo. Look for the Greenway signs in the area.
In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your purchases accordingly.
Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who want to immerse themselves in the water, however, there are some options. Nearby, there are the Lido di Ossuccio and the Lido di Lenno. In other small locations, there are more beaches and bars by the lake. The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those who want to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio. Residents and visitors also love going to Nesso, where the bravest swimmers can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.
Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Pre-Alps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay particular attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!
