I had high expectations due to all the fantastic reviews. They were all spot on. Imagine waking up everyday and swimming in crystal clear water. I didn't even need to bring snorkelling gear as I could see to the bottom as I swam.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary with amazing massages and horse riding around the island and in the sea. We spent our days kayaking around the island and beyond.
The food was amazing and the staff awesome. A special shout out to Mikko. He just made us feel so special. A great feel good factor helping the school.
We enjoy going to different places to experience new things, but we may just have to come back as this will be hard to top.
Thanks everyone!

Wonderful location, unique rustic accommodation, very pleasant and friendly staff, lots of good food.
Allow nearly your resort booking cost for food/drinks and optional activities. Suggest purchasing the meal package.
Not an adults only resort, constantly aware of young children outside your accommodation.

We stayed on Ratau in Dec for 8 nights and loved it, our house Pig was the furthest away but we thought the most beautiful.
You wake up to a stunning secluded beach of your own, the house was well decorated, spacious, with lots of various seats to rest on and only 10 min walk to the Yacht Club.
Staff are so attentive and make your feel very welcome, reception are great at arranging all your onsite and offsite trips.
Enjoyed the entertainment put on ensuring guests learn about the culture of the local people.
We went with the Meal Plan, delicious, so much food, you will not go hungry with its option.
We spent our days busily doing lots of the on and off site activities, highly recommend diving the Coolidge even if beginner, Nanda blue hole is stunning and as is champayne beach and for the adventurous Millenium Caves.
Onsite swimming with horses is great, as is the Blue Hole canoeing trip.
if doing trips off the island maybe check when others are also so can share boat fees to Santo.
The snorkelling is great as well around the Yacht club and Spa, saw many turtles in the morning, you could easily do as little or as much as possible on Ratau as it really caters for everyone.
There's not many places I say I would definitely return too, as so many places to explore, but Ratau is one place I would love to return to one day.
You guys are doing a great job, keep it up and thanks for making our trip a special one

My partner and I stayed at Ratua for 6 nights and could have stayed forever. We absolutely loved the isolation, the activities, the staff, the spa, and our unique villa on the waters edge. We left Ratua completely relaxed and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to unwind.

Stayed 4 nights with wife and 3yo child during X-mas 2011. Lots of waiting in check-ins, boarding and baggage collection but well worth the wait.
Accommodation is surprisingly comfortable and relaxing, it felt good to walk bare foot around 200 year old wooden shack and walk on private beach which is shaded all day by huge trees. We had fantastic time snorkelling off beach in-front of the main deck.
Resorts staff did a fantastic job of preparing for excellent X-mas day lunch and dinner. Lunchtime X-mas carols by the Gardening crew (about 10 of them without any music) was worthy of greatest cathedrals or music halls. Evening X-mas carols by Ratua Resort Band (with single string double-base and hand-carved guitar) made excellent meal even more special.
Wife and I put on about 2kg of weight as meal-plan of BBQ lunch and 3-course dinner was more then we could eat. Serving size was more then adequate, so most nights we were struggling to eat dessert. Breakfast was rather simple but very tasty and goof quality. I suppose resort is French themed and all I had was Croissant and Tanna coffee.
Not much to do on the island other then horse riding, canoeing, snorkling and comprehensive list of paid daily activities (cheaper then Port Vila).
Resort's management( Britta and Yorick) were very helpful and friendly. They amde sure everything was organised and taken-care of properly.
I will definitely return as soon as possible. It is a fantastic little resort, much better then Maldives, Thailand-Phuket, Indonesia-Bali and Fiji-Denarau Island.
