Neighbourhood
Tamborine Mountain is a stunning location in the middle of the peaceful and picturesque Hinterland. Only an hour from Brisbane and half an hour from the Gold Coast, you'll be spoiled for choice on activities. Take in the sights and the natural foliage - it doesn't get more real than this.
While you're staying here, make sure you check out the Mount Tamborine Markets; these eclectic markets have a variety of vendors coming every other weekend. Whether you're after homemade souvenirs or fresh fruit and vegetables, you won't be disappointed. After you've perused the local wares, make sure you head to Tamborine Mountain Gallery Walk, with an abundance of shops across the heart of the Mountain offer everything from locally-made gifts, clothing, weekend markets, fabulous antiques and even the quirky, there is no shortage of opportunities for the passionate shopper.
When you've shopped enough to build up your appetite, you've not got any lack of options for food. We personally recommend the Fox & Hound Country Inn, an authentic English pub which boasts an imported interior and traditional English food. For those who enjoy a taste of wine, head over to Witches Fall Winery; the finest winery in Queensland making wine with a combination of traditional and modern measures. Go to a wine tasting with a knowledgeable host and learn all about the nuances of wine while enjoying some of the best locally made wine in the country. Not a wine drinker? Not to worry; the Tamborine Mountain Distillery produces a wide range of boutique liqueurs and spirits. With flavours ranging from Choc 'n' Chilli to Lavender to Limcello and everything in between, there's sure to be something for all the adults in your group to love.
Being in such a gorgeous area, it would be a shame to not take in the sights. The Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is an easy 1.5km walk across forest floor trails and steel bridges lifting you up to a soaring 30 metres in the air. Once you've finished appreciating the view from up above, head back to the Eco Gallery which showcases local animals, birds and reptiles, as well as dioramas of insects and butterflies. When you've finished up there, make sure to also check out the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens. Featuring a tranquil Japanese Garden, a tropical rainforest walk, and a diverse range of exotrc and native flora, this is the perfect place to reconnect with nature.
Tamborine Mountain is simply an unmissable hidden gem.
