The property is 2 minute walk to Albert Road, a buzzing and bright road that's full of shops, bars, restaurants and music venues, including the Wedgewood Rooms, which often hosts musicians, bands and comedy nights. O'Neill's Tavern is just across the way for pub fare and watching sports games (it's one of the main hubs for Pompey F.C. fans), or there's the Gin and Olive for cocktails, Cedar's Lebanese for some delivious food, and the Panormous Pizzeria for mouthwatering, authentic Italian.
If you fancy travelling a little further, Southsea Seafront is full of things to see and do, including a fun fair at South Parade Pier, fresh seafood at the Briny, healthy eats at the Southsea Beach cafe, and the historic sea walls as well as the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight.
The nearest grocery store is The Cooperative- if you take a right when you exit and stay to the right as the road winds you'll end up at Elm Grove and the store is just on your right, maybe a five minute walk?
Access is granted by a lockbox next to the exterior gate.
This historic house is one of a kind! Newly rennovated- the living room features a large fat screen smart TV, two luxurious couches, and a collection of memorabilia from the owner's travels around the globe! Just opposite is the large kitchen with oak dining table in the center (with plenty of seating), a full fridge/freezer, gas hob and oven, dishwasher, toaster... and stocked with all the essentials like coffee, tea, salt, pepper, and cooking oil. The cabinets are stocked with cutlery and cooking utensils, as well as baking/cooking pots and pans. Plenty of counter space as well to whip up a multi course meal, perhaps with some seafood fresh from the boatyard!
Upstairs are two double bedrooms with views overlooking the garden, along with plenty of closet space as well as dressers and hanging racks. One bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower, the other has it's own entrance into the master bathroom (that you can also enter from the hall) with a bathtub and shower as well.
Heading back downstairs, and taking a left, you walk through a hallway to the next two split level bedrooms. One bedroom is up a half flight of stairs and features a beautiful skylight, the other is down a small flight of stairs and features a king size bed that can be converted into two singles should you request it. The bathroom is also in this room. Please note that you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other, but both have doors that can be closed for privacy!
Heading back to the main living area, past more artwork and memorabilia, there are two rooms of note. In the front of the house there is an office area with a private workspace/desk, as well as a small couch that can be unfolded into a small single bed.
Just past the kitchen, in what appears to be a utility room with the washing machine (drying racks provided), you'll notice a steep set of stairs. Head down these into the basement, and you'll find yourself in the secret cinema space! There is a projector with a Firestick attached so you can stream your favourite shows and movies, as well as live events from apps like BBC iPlayer. There is a very comfortable L shaped couch as well as a coffee table, and the Victorian brickwork is decorated with film posters, both vintage and reimagined. Every cinephile's dream!
The garden is also a wonderful spot to catch an evening breeze, read, or grill (you will need to provide your own charcoal for the BBQ). Comfortable bench seating in the front, and a lush garden await. There is also a table with seating for four on the elevated portion next to the front door.
This is truly the perfect place for a family outing, with plenty of space for everyone to keep to themselves, or gather together!
Most locations are walkable or taxis are plentiful and cheap. We also have Uber. There are frequent buses running nearby. The nearest train station is Fratton which is a 20 min walk. If you are driving - you will require visitor's permits, which can be purchased for £3.60 per vehicle, per day via our Digital Guidebook which is sent prior to your stay. Parking is hit and miss as Portsmouth is a little overcrowded with vehicles but you will find a space on the main road or in one of the nearby side roads.
Quiet Hours are from 11pm-8am
No smoking indoors
Be mindful that there are neighbours above the cinema room- mind the volume!
