About this cottage rental
Oyster Cove is a lovely 3-bedroom semi-detached holiday home situated on the edge of the North Devon village of Croyde.
This stunning family and pet friendly property offers a quiet and secluded holiday home in an area that provides something for everyone. It’s only a short walk over the dunes to the renowned surfers beach and another short walk in the other direction to the centre of this lively village, which has great pubs, restaurants and shops. There really is something for all the family.
Sleeping up to eight, the house is great for either families searching for a beach holiday, or groups of friends wanting to relax or enjoy the local water-sports.
Oyster Cove, which is tastefully decorated throughout has an open plan living area. The comfy lounge has large sofas and bean bags perfect for watching the TV, as well as a nice wood table to seat all the family for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Finally there is the well-equipped kitchen, which has a fridge/freezer, a coffee machine, a dishwasher and a washing machine.
French doors open out from the lounge area on to a wood decked terrace where guests are welcome to relax or keep an eye on the children as they play in the fully enclosed garden, which is also ideal for dogs. The garden, which has a nice lawn area has a large paved patio from which the ocean can be seen. Within the handy shed, there are several items for the beach, as well as a parasol for the big outside table. Guests are also able to take advantage of the BBQ, which is provided and located on the patio.
Down a few small steps from the living area are the three bedrooms, these include a large twin with two full size single beds and large storage cupboard, a colourful bunk room with two sets of bunk beds, and finally the Master bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower room. The final room is the spacious family bathroom, which has a separate shower and bath.
When staying at Oyster Cove, Croyde village is literally on the doorstep, and exudes quaint charm albeit with the perfect blend of a cool and invigorating lifestyle. Enjoy a thrilling day surfing or just having fun on one of the fantastic beaches at Croyde, Putsborough and Saunton, then stroll back to your beautiful holiday home, relax, refresh and take another stroll and enjoy a great night out in the village where you find fabulous pub serving locally sourced food. The village also has its own small selection of shops selling day-to-day essentials meaning it is possible you may not need to get back in the car once you have arrived at this gorgeous house.

It’s a comfortable and well-equipped house with some wear and tear, especially some issues with moisture in the home. Overall would recommend.

A beautiful property in the heart of croyde village. Close to amenities and the beach. The property was clean and spacious with all the mod cons to make it a home from home. We have stayed here several times and will definitely be returning.

This is our 6th or 7th stay at Oyster Cove and we always have a good time but a few things need sorting.
The cleanliness on arrival is an issue, the house smelt quite unpleasant and pet hair from a previous visit was very evident.
The electric velux blind in one of the bedrooms was closed and the remote to open it was missing. After a search we called the agent who advised it was broken and remote was missing - it would have been good to have been told.
There is no recycling arrangement despite this being pretty good in the area. You see the different bags outside other houses but there is only a general waste bin at Oyster Cove. We took ours to the village which we should have to do.

We had a lovely week at Oyster Cove.
Garden - well maintained, dog-safe, washing line good for hanging out wetsuits.
House - some small maintenance issues (which we reported), but very clean, well equipped.
Perfect location for beaches, 5 min walk to pubs/restaurants in Croyde. Note that dogs are not allowed on Croyde beach from May to September, though there are plenty of beaches that do allow dogs.

Enjoyable week despite the mixed weather. Good location, comfortable and well equipped for five adults and two cavapoos. Appreciated the heating even in July. Some damp problems. Good secure garden for the dogs. Agents were very efficient in responding. Can recommend The Rock in Georgeham.

Really lovey cottage great location very well equity with everything you need …only negative is that the cottage is starting to get a little tired …needs a little updating …new carpets etc… but apart from that lovely

A lovely cottage in a good location just a few minutes walk from Croyde beach. Well placed for visiting Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Lynmouth and Barnstable. Good enclosed garden for the dog. Well equipped but a few damp issues. Highly recommend The Rock in Georgeham for delicious meals.

I raised several issues when we arrived, had a response that they would be addressed but they weren’t, when I chased it up, a handy man had attended when we were out, our fault we weren’t there even though it hadn’t been communicated to us that he was coming in that day, and no time or instructions were passed to us. Our bed collapsed in day one but this wasn’t an emergency. A light didn’t work in a bathroom and the batteries missing from a remote made it unusable the whole stay. Nothing to flip an egg, nothing to peg washing. The property is tired and was unclean. A skittle under our bed, Dorito under the lounge table, clothing sticker under a chair in the bedroom, obviously nothing gets moved when cleaning which is poor with Covid in existence. The local person who I assume should be looking after us, communication was terrible. Amanda from the property management company has communicated with me and she has taken on board these points however nothing was done during our stay and we have not been compensated.

We love oyster cove and we’ll definitely be back this year
The property needs some outside lights as it’s very difficult when it’s so dark
The oven needs abit of maintenance as it only seems to cook at one temperature ( very high)

Oyster cove is a lovely place to stay
Very good value for money for a large apartment. The garden was quite big for my dig to run around. Perfect location and just ten mins walk to the beach and to the centre of the village. Would definitely recommend

Oyster Cove
We always have a lovely stay but Oyster. Cove has quite a few maintenance issues that need addressing and could also do with a few more pots and pans

Ryan family from Broadstairs
The location was perfect. 5 mins into the village and 10 mins to the beach and parking right outside for the car. However I'd say the property was more a 'sleeps 6' with an extra set of bunk beds put in than a 'sleeps 8'. The beds and bathrooms were fine but there were ony 6 chairs round the dining table, and no space for any more even if they had been provided, and 6 comfy seats for watching tv. Also the top shelf of the dishwasher pulled all the way out risking a whole lot of crockery being broken. The main problem was no washing line and Croyde Bay is a surfing beach so its essential to have somewhere to dry wetsuits and towels. We ended up draping them over the fence. In general we were happy with the holiday but definitely need a washing line, more cutlery wouldve been nice and just little things like working batteries in the remote, a light bulb in the side lamp and a bin bag in the kitchen bin.

Great house positioned within walking distance to the beach and the town Centre. We were not in the house very often as we were out doing all the activities. I would suggest perhaps a few more kitchen utensils for cooking but other than that it was great.

Great location within walking distance to the beach. Comfortable house, perfect for holiday with friends.

Disappointing
Good location but cleanliness was not good, kettle didn’t work properly, remote control for blackout blind didn’t work, dishwasher was broken (we were pre warned about this the day before our stay) Requested half an hours grace on check in and check out times as have a toddler and a baby - 6pm (Check in) is bedtime and tricky to get them up, fed, sorted and packed by 9am (Check out) but the response was a blunt no despite the fact that when we did arrive early and leave late there was no sign of any cleaners!

Excellent location and cottage, with a few niggles
Stayed for a week in summer as two couples with babies.
The cottage is in a fantastic location about 10-15 minutes easy walk from the beach and right next to the heart of Croyde. Given the families had babies crawling around, the living room was remarkably easy to baby-proof, a big plus point! Bedrooms were a good size and would be perfect for families with young children to share the double bunk room. The cottage manager, Claire was very responsive when we had issues and managed to sort out most of them very quickly.
Appliances in the cottage were showing their age, with both the fridge/freezer and dishwasher due for replacement. The property allowed dogs, so we expected a little dog hair around, but there was still alot on the living room carpet even after we'd hoovered it twice! (maybe a more powerful hoover). Because the cottage was on the side of a house the two bathrooms and toilet didn't have windows, and despite having the fans on plenty and opening other windows to get airflow, it did feel a bit damp in the corridor.
Overall, we'd stay there again as it fitted our needs well.

No frills, clean, great location
A really good property. Simple, well maintained and in a really good spot for the beach and town. We had an issue with the boiler upon arrival and we were visited and it was sorted within the hour. Would recommend.

Early December break
Nice clean, warm, comfortable accommodation plenty of space. Ideal place to come back to after a winter walk or playing in the surf. Look forward to going back in the summer, so we can enjoy the garden.
4.3
great location
Found the property was ideal for our family having all the rooms on one level was really good all the properties facilities were fine and the garden was lovely. Couple of things though the television was very poor for the size of room far to small ,the sound from it was pathetic.
Overall enjoyed our stay.
Need to sort out a light at the back patio onto the decking

Lovely property in an excellent location
This was our second visit to oyster cove. The property is spacious and clean in a prime location for the beach and the village. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Our 2nd visit to Oyster Cove.
This was our 2nd stay at Oyster Cove and already thinking about our 3rd stay!
It had everything we needed ( apart from the weather this time). Lovely having extra beds for our family to join us for a few nights.
Garden was great size and caught the sun in the morning by the decking outside the living room and then in the evening by the bbq area.
Perfect location only 10 min walk to beach along quiet lanes avoiding the main road.
4.3
Lovely weekend.
Very happy with the accommodation. Well equipped with everything we needed. Had such a good time that we have already booked for next year!
4.3
Great week in well equipped cottage in good location in Croyde
Comfortable cottage with lovely garden in a very good location, near Croyde Village and also the beach. Had everything we needed for a large family group ranging from 84 years old to 8 months!
4.3
Some good but some poor things
Overall we had a lovely holiday staying at Oyster Cove in Croyde but there were some areas that needed attention. Having had to pay a refundable damage deposit I would have thought the condition of the property would have been pristine but within a few hours we all discovered things that were broken:
1. The carpet into the lounge had worn away by the door so much that the spikes in the gripper bar were exposed. So I had to lay cardboard down to protect our feet
2. Broken toilet seat
3. Showerhead in en-suite broken
4. Lampshade in bedroom broken
There were a few other things and these were all reported as, to be fair to the cleaner, you possibly wouldn’t spot these things unless you were living in the house. Talking of the cleaner, she was very helpful in the days before our stay and managed to get us into the house well before the official time. Even better was the milk, tea, coffee and cake waiting for us. Nice touch, thanks.
The garden was lovely but we had to use the hole in the patio table as a stand for the rotary washing line as there was no hole in the ground anywhere and if you like a secluded garden you won’t get it here as the fences are only 4ft high. The view from our garden was great though as we could just about see Croyde Bay.
The property itself is a long and thin rather than square shaped so is a good layout if you have 6 or more staying as all 3 bedrooms are far apart.
The lounge diner is a nice room and opens onto the garden which was nice.
Overall we would recommend the property but would ask the owners to live in the house for a few days to appreciate the repairs that need attention and maybe identify what additions would make a stay more comfortable - such as surfaces in the bathrooms to put your toiletries.
Finally, thanks to the gardeners who, when they came in to cut the grass found out the variety of lavender that is growing by the patio and left a note. Appreciated that. Thanks.

Excellent accommodation and location in Croyde.
We were a family of 6 adults , 1 child and 1 infant and we found the accommodation excellent. The property is clean and tidy with everything you need and good sized rooms. There is one en-suite , a large family bathroom and a separate WC.
There is a good sized garden , fully enclosed for dogs and a barbecue is provided.
The location is excellent with a shortcut to the beach along a short level path.
4.3
Very nice venue close to Croyde village centre
Surprisingly spacious accommodation located 5 minutes walk from Croyde beach and shops. Well specified kitchen, comfy bedrooms and dog proof garden making this an ideal location for our short stay.
Would recommend and will look to stay there again when the surfing bug returns!
Only neutral comments would be 'dog tax' seemed a little excessive, and no negotiation for booking a shorter stay at certain times.
4.3
Very enjoyable stay /First class accomodation
Accommodation was very well equipped ,clean and well located.
The whole property was geared up to enable us to do nothing more than relax and enjoy our time there.
4.3
Well equipped with plenty of room. Convenient located for the beach.
We had a wet week so spent more time in the property than normal. Lovely 3 days on the beach- kids loved the surfing lessons with Croyde surfing- very helpful. Struggled to dry towels etc, the property was quite damp. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean.
4.3
Great cottage in great location
Lovely spacious, clean and modern cottage in a great location - perfect for one adult and three kids. We walked to the beach (5-10 minutes) and the village (5 minutes) every day and only used the car once. The beach feels very safe with lifeguards on duty until 6pm and the village has nice pubs and ice cream / cafes with plenty of places to buy or hire surf gear.
Well recommended :)

Really lovely calm place to stay ~ fully equipped
Great place we had it full up and really used garden too ~ handy parking and really handy for all local beaches ~ comfy beds too 😀
4.3
Excellent
The photographs of oyster cove do not do it justice. A lovely spacious cottage within easy reach of the village. Very Comfortable and clean with everything you need. The chocolate cake on arrival was a lovely gesture. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
