The location is fantastic. The host is very helpful and welcoming. The house felt more like a home from the minute we arrived. All adults and children were amazed at the house and gardens(especially the gardens). One of our best family holiday homes.

The thatched cottage is both picturesque and spacious with beautiful gardens to the front and rear
As you enter the house you immediately pick up good vibes of a family home
We were a family of grand parents ,parents 3
children under 10 years and two dogs ( an elderly whippet and whippet collie cross)
The house is surrounded by interesting walks and excellent family and dog friendly pubs and of course the beach with its numerous fossils is close by

This was our second visit to the cottage and we had a comfortable stay. The cottage is very quaint and set in peaceful grounds.
There were just a couple of things that we thought we would mention - the hob in the kitchen was difficult to cook with as the rings were temperamental - they only seems to work when on full blast.
Our stay coincided with the gardeners visit. This was a shame as we were only staying for the week. Whilst the gardeners were polite, it was quite noisy sitting outside whilst they were there strimming and a little intrusive. Perhaps the gardeners could visit once guests had gone - we vacated the property by 11am on Friday and this may be a good time for the gardeners to come. Just a thought.

Idyllic country hideaway
We celebrated Xmas and New Year at the cottage and it was perfect for the 3 of us. The owners have provided everything one might need in the kitchen and elsewhere, including Xmas decorations and logs for the fire. The house is roomy and warm, beautifully decorated, and the grounds are extensive and a delight to walk around. The Chandlers have been very responsive throughout and were kind enough to let us extend the stay as we were having such a lovely time there. The peace and quiet was so welcome we would definitely think about returning. Top marks! PS: We highly recommend the local Hood Arms; the food is excellent and the staff are super friendly.

Our second stay at this lovely property. A very clean, comfortable and well-appointed cottage. Lovely garden to sit out in or explore, full of birds, bees and butterflies this time of year. Convenient to beach and Quantocks.

Good location and lovely garden BUT inside tired and damp.
This is an attractive-looking cottage from the outside, but unfortunately the photos of the outside and the lovely garden belie the very tired soft furnishings inside. We found all the armchairs and both sofas to be very uncomfortable, and both double beds also in need of updating. The king-size bed was fine in the large airy master bedroom but the 2 single beds in the annex, above the garage, were really too small for a normal-sized adult, and the single glazed window next to these beds made that room feel cold, although an extra oil -filled radiator is provided; the rest of the house is centrally heated and warmed up very quickly when needed. Another issue was that neither of the 2 showers had much water pressure, so the electric shower would keep pausing during use. However, the main problem with this house was the strong smell of damp, particularly in the living room and adjoining garden room, to the extent that we really didn't want to spend much time in there, and it quite spoiled our stay. The owners are very helpful in terms of their comprehensive information etc. but the house would definitely benefit from some internal updating/upgrading. Unfortunately we won't return because of this, even though we loved the location, and certainly could not recommend, sorry.

A home from home
A home from home, very comfortable and well-equipped. Lovely large garden to stroll around, full of birds, bees and butterflies. Location was close to village and beach, with easy connection to main roads and footpaths to village and beach from the property.

Choosing to hire Kilve was the most difficult part of the process. After that corresponding with Richard the owner was like talking to an old friend and the house itself is lovely and welcomes you immediately as a real home. We wanted, with our friends, a get away to the country for the new year holiday and this was perfect. We walked miles every day both along the coast and in the Quantocks and ate, drank and talked too much round the fire in the evenings. Perfect. Would I change anything? Perhaps persuading the local restaurants to delay going off for their holidays until after new year but then we didn’t have to drive if we ate at home.

A beautiful location
Rowditch was perfect for our holiday with three active boys and their parents (with us the grandparents). The garden was the star feature for us - hide and seek and plenty of games to wear them out. We love the area around and found activities to entertain each day, with trips to Kilve beach most evenings or early morning on bikes. We felt very comfortable and well looked after by our hosts.

A beautiful property
This cottage is delightful - extremely well equipped and with a splendid big garden. We loved the feeling that it is a home, not just a house, which the owners want to share. The location is quiet but within easy reach of the coast and several good pubs. Ideal for a family

Top Show!
Hearty recommendation - a solid holiday base for 60 miles radius day trippers with the added bonus of sufficient land for any garden sport that you care to participate in.

Brilliant house and location
My family and I loved staying at this property. The thatched house and beautiful and extensive garden are chocolate box and we loved all the birds using the feeders. The house is well equipped and everything works as it should. We were very sorry to have to leave and thoroughly recommend it!

Excellent
A very comfortable holiday home with a really beautiful garden. We enjoyed watching the birds and rabbits from the conservatory. This made up for the terrible weather.
We would certainly recommend Rowditch to everyone.
Thank you very much Richard and Mirin.

A beautiful country cottage just minutes from Kilve beach
I stayed here over Christmas with family, in total we were 4 adults, 2 children a baby and two dogs. The cottage suited our needs perfectly and we had plenty of space. Communication with the hosts was easy and they were very accommodating. There are a number of places to walk dogs from the cottage and the beach is a few minutes drive. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the coastline, the Quantox and Exmoor. It would have been useful to have a tumble dryer as that many people in the winter meant clothes drying all over the place but that is a small complaint really! We loved our week there and would happily visit again

Amazing, idyllic cottage and garden
What a wonderful place Rowditch is! It’s the nicest cottage we’ve ever stayed in, so comfortable, welcoming and full of quirky character. There’s so much space inside, we could virtually lose each other! Everything we could need was there, plus useful extras like torches, a laundry basket and pegs.
The garden was spectacular with laden fruit trees, colourful flowers and a fantastic paddock for football. All of us loved spending time in it.
It’s also situated in a beautiful place. We found the spot in the garden where you can see the sea, and walked up the lane to see the panoramic views over the Bristol Channel and the Quantocks.
We absolutely loved our stay and were so sorry to have to leave today.

A most enjoyable break
The property was all we expected.
The property was well furnished, well equipped and clean and tidy.
It was nice to find toys for my grandchild and plenty of space in the gardens.
It felt more like a family home than a rental property.
The holiday was helped by good weather, although there were traffic problems getting to and from the property..

Elegant cottage in amongst lovely countryside
A spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, charming cottage with lovely large garden and views. Thanks for sharing it.
Varied walks from the door to the coastline and if you wanted (although we drove to Holford first) the same could be achieved in the beautiful Quantocks.
Village shop in Kilve has small but sufficient range of food etc and the pub - The Hood - served us an excellent evening meal. And the nearby Chantry tearoom provided a pleasing cream tea.
If you enjoy horse riding the Quantock Trekking centre at Bashford is a well run establishment offering good rides, with breathtaking views, for any standard.
The bonus of a balmy, dry week was just that, a bonus, but obviously added to the overall enjoyment.
Rowditch is well worth a visit!
