About this cabin rental
The Miner's in one word: enchanting. It is a tiny jewel of a place located just a few feet from the Trinity River. It's pet-friendly, has world class but challenging fishing right outside your door and exquisite river and mountain views.
As soon as it was available, we upgraded to a fast and unlimited internet supplier (fall/2017).
The Miner's Landing is a fabulous river rock patio with a fire pit & BBQ grill right next to the river. What beats a fire and watching the stars in the night sky?
Occasionally we approve a fourth guest who can bring a sleeping bag and sleep on a (provided) sleeping pad, but this is a small cabin and best enjoyed by 2-3. Note: To access the sleeping loft you will need to climb a ladder (as seen in photos). If climbing a ladder will pose and issue, this may not be the best cabin for you.
Minimalist cooking facilities, but there is a sink, convection/toaster oven, microwave, deep electric skillet and Farberware single-cup coffee maker with coffee pods and creamers included. There is a cool clock with mood lighting and nature sounds; you can plug your phone or pad into it to stream music.
Some of our parties have brought cast iron cookware and cooked on the fire pit/BBQ or their own tabletop Weber down on the landing. We were invited to drop in on one of them and visited while he fried gorgeous potatoes in cast iron over an open fire. He patiently turned each herb-seasoned chunk as we caught up with their travels. They had just spent a month in Europe, mostly Paris and some of Italy, but were anxious to return to the Miner's beside the river.
BBQ on the landing, or bring a camp stove and cook on the landing (please not in cabin; we have limited emergency response resources up here and a fire could be devastating). We have gas and Weber BBQs up on the main patio between Alpen Glow & Carriage House.
There is cookware, dining ware and serving ware. Dorm-sized refrigerator has a separate freezer for that all-essential pint of Ben & Jerry's, plus we supply a huge cooler with frozen water jugs to keep it cool. The bathroom features a roomy shower with the toilet in it (like you see on some boats and in some trailers).
We are always upgrading our cabins. We paved the main drive and put in a large parking lot at the entrance that's great for boats and vehicles, but Miner's guests have their own parking close to the cabin. All of our Steel Bridge cabins have Wi-Fi and late 2017 saw a switch to a fast and unlimited carrier. Yippee!
Time to unplug and recharge? You really are going to love this place.

A very private and beautiful spot. Rustic but good base for hiking and fishing. Perfect for one person or two but no inside privacy if that’s important. No TV but WiFi is pretty good considering remote location. Overlooks Trinity River but not easy access if you want to get in. Not a place for folks with accessibility issues. Owner was quick to respond if needed!

Sorry to say this was very dumpy for the price. We are not luxury travelers - far from it. We don't mind simple lodgings, but we expect more. Here is what we found: Internet mostly non-existent. No cell service.Bedding very substandard with appearance of being old and overused. We wondered if blankets/spreads get washed after each use, which they should be. Flannel sheets are yucky.Lots of bugs, earwigs, things flying around. No glasses to drink from -- only plastic. NO proper bowls or eating plates . Everything in kitchen appears ancient, including ratty coffee maker and cheap, crummy utensils that we didn't even want to use, and pots/pans like they came from a college dorm clean-out at the end of the year. Furnishings and lamps (including wrong-fit lampshade -- all appear to be from 70s garage sale -- not efficient and generally dilapidated. Couch uncomfortable. Bathroom- like something from a 70s campground at best, and needs a sink separate from kitchen/food sink! Windowsills grimy and gritty. Rug also old and flat and has the vibe of never being washed -- why not just put in a new, clean wood floor, even one with faux wood.Table ridiculously small and utterly non-functional due to everything piled on it. Kitchenette counters also look decades old. Whole place has a feel of being barely surface-clean, substandard and for sure not worth the price. Needs a complete indoor remodel, new windows and new, more efficient furniture, shelving, applicances, kitchen ware, bedding.

This is just as it appears in the listing .
So comfortable and peaceful , beautiful views of the trinity river.
We were looking for a place to stay for a few nights on our trip around northern California (from the UK) and this was a perfect location to chill. Also a visit to Weaverville which had a lovely few places to eat and the museum and Joss house well worth visiting.
Also the Lewiston hotel in Lewiston a good place to eat and enjoy a drink by the river .
Good directions to find here also.

Wonderful quaint cabin in the forest by the Trinity River. Exceeded our expectations!

This property was a random find that turned out to be pretty amazing. Nothing in the description of the property is off base. Great little cabin right on the water with amazing evenings at the fire pit or cozy on the back porch listening to water and nature. There is road noise from 299, but hardly an issue. You can see the fish from the porch and can explore the surrounding small towns if the river doesn't keep you occupied. The only negative thing I would have for this cabin is the Bathroom. It is tight quarters shared with the shower, but I knew that going in. I would stay here again NO PROBLEM! The host answered any of my questions and I never saw anyone else while at the cabin. Close to civilization, but felt so remote!

Got sick couldn't stay and regardless can't scale ladders and river banks to get to a river. The toilet sits in the shower.

It was relaxing and the view is beautiful there!

As we were traveling between National Parks, we just needed a place to stay for one night. This fit the bill! It was tiny and comfortable and we enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the creek. The creek was too high for successful fishing but still a pretty spot! The bathroom needs an overall. The shower head continuously leaked and splashed the toilet due to its proximity, but hopefully that can easily be resolved. We loved the little loft bed too. Just so others are aware, the traffic noise level is high for a remote cabin due to the shape of the mountains. We didn’t mind and would stay here again! Thank you to our host!

Was a rustic but not primitive cabin. Clean Very cold weekend but warm inside. Comfortable and the loft was nice. Trinity River right outside. Did catch a half pounder (as they are called). WiFi did not work easily but had to go into Link Sys. Was still pretty slow. But it made the cabin peaceful and quiet. The shower leaked in the shower/toilet. No kidding about the ladder to the loft - talks about a phone but none in sight. Rustic, beautiful, peaceful.

Great for one night, river is stunning. :)

The constantly dripping shower/ toilet combo made the floor wet and moldy smelling… coffee was in the listing so I didn’t bring any… there was maybe a tablespoon of coffee grinds in a bag on the shelf.
The worst thing was the shower did not work at all and we were there to attend a wedding! We had to make other arrangements to get ready! We called the owner but by the time he returned our call we had left to go elsewhere to shower.
We also had to go up the hill to use the Wi-Fi for work and our phones. It was quite chilly in the mornings so not very comfortable.

This property provides everything you need for a comfortable retreat: little cabin in the woods, firepit, river access, peace and quiet
Modern luxuries like electricity, plumbing, air conditioning, and internet access provide ease. Simplicity provides serenity. My cell service didn't work inside the cabin but did work a 5 minute walk up the road.
River access requires strength and agility, with a short but steep drop from the hillside (rope provided for stability) onto a small ladder. I enjoyed the fun mini-challenge but some bodies would not be able to handle it.
Miner's Cabin is a dream come true for dreamers who crave a private riverside get-away.

Living in a small place with a big impact!
The cabin was authentic, very small and cozy and very tastefully decorated.
I LOVED listening to the Trinity River all night. Very relaxing 😌

My son and I were passing through and needed a quiet place to hang out for a night and it was perfect.

peace
Really peaceful, the water running at night is so relaxing.. Fishing didn't happen the river to fast for that. Swimming maybe better in the summer, water slows down? Over all back to nature was great to unwind from real life.I would love to have a little place like this for myself. Maybe put some blinds in the cabin.🙂❤

Cozy little cabin with a gorgeous view
My wife and I stayed here as a weekend getaway to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and we very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very cozy and the view overlooking the river is picturesque. As others said it is very close to the highway but honestly it didn’t bother us at all. Sure you can hear cars drive-by but only when you are outside and Even then it wasn’t obnoxious at all and definitely didn’t impact our experience in a negative way. One thing I would recommend is to definitely try to get there while it’s still daylight because the pathway from where you park to the cabin is very poorly lit so if you think you will get there after dark definitely be sure to bring flashlights. Overall it was a lovely little cabin perfect for two people and we definitely hope to come back again in the future.

Absolutely adorable small cottage.
Best shower I ever had. Unique

First the bad; the cleanliness of the cabin was surprisingly poor. The upper ceiling area and walls were covered in cobwebs which may have taken years to accumulate. I will be sending pics to property owner. The other biggie is this cabin isn’t nearly as remote as I imagined. The serenity and overall experience the river could offer is largely diminished due to non-stop traffic noise from the nearby highway which includes a lot of big rigs. Not the owners fault, I didn’t think to ask.Still, we truly enjoyed our stay; the cabin was comfortable, the porch overlook was very nice. We had no issues with river access and enjoyed several “cool-downs” and the fire-pit patio area was very enjoyable.

The river view fantastic - saw a bald eagle fly by! Some highway noise from 299, but that calmed down in the night. Sitting on the balcony my favorite.

Cute and cozy
Either I didn't see it in the description or it wasn't mentioned that the place is right next to 299, so it was pretty noisy. However, when there was no traffic, the birds were amazing! We even saw a bald eagle fishing. The cabin was mostly clean, except for the dishes and utensils. We just washed everything before we used it so no big deal. There is no pot or pan so we went to the store in Weaverville to buy one of each. We only needed these because we brought our camp stove which was a personal choice- so we should have also brought a pot and pan probably. The upstairs bed was EXTREMELY comfortable. The fire pit was awesome. CAUTION: Our dog got caught up in the nasty undertoe directly down stream from the river access. The river current is strong there and she couldn't get out, she got pulled under a fallen log but luckily I saw it coming and was able to get down there and get her out. DO NOT let your animals or kids swim unsupervised right there- go up to the next swimming hole on the next door property.

Cozy cabin on the river.
We had a nice stay at this cute cabin. It was right on the river which provided a beautiful view. We spent a lot of time on the balcony. We enjoyed the loft bed which was comfortable with nice linens. Close to Weaverville which is where we went for lunch. I would recommend this place to friends.

Sweet!
This is truly a retreat. We wanted to take our our sensitive German Shepherd away from fireworks during the 4th of July and give ourselves a little R&R. Beautiful property and cabin. The pictures here don't do it justice. My favorite thing was the loft sleeping. The bed is platform and firm but soft; there are windows on each side of the pitched ceiling that made for a yummy evening breeze and the gentle sound of the rolling river. We used the firepit in the evening with a beer and the morning with a cup of coffee. It was truly like a great camping experience, except with modern amenities and comfort. It was amazing. And so was the owner, Justin. We really have not seen customer service like that in a long time. We have a bit of a glitch upon arrival that could have ruined our trip, but Justin literally rushed the rescue and went above and beyond to not only fix the glitch, but to make sure any memory of it was sent packing. Thank you, Justin! Totally lovely, relaxing experience.

Quaint little cabin
The cabin was clean and had all the amenities needed for a stay by the river. Justin communicated very well and made sure we had everything that we needed. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing trip, this place fits the bill!

Exactly what we NEEDED!
This was our third visit here, and we keep coming back for the wooded quiet and privacy, as well as for the beauty and the oh so soothing sounds of the Trinity River which is only a few yards away from the rustic cabin, and only a few feet away from the outdoor riverside patio with firepit. You can sit around the campfire listening to the sounds of nature and the river, while slow cooking amazing ribs over the fire.We live in a densely populated area and really miss these quiet pleasures, as we are usually surrounded by folks who are always stressed out and in a big hurry (like we are when in that environment). We always see deer wandering around. They are so curious about us. They look like they are asking us "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" They are so beautiful, gentle and curious. You can fish in the river easily from this spot without having to drive anywhere if you don't feel like it. Good fishing here. Everyone we have met in the town/local businesses, has been very friendly and helpful with any questions we might have. Can you tell that we just love it here and hate to ever leave? If you want to get away from it all, then this is the spot. The friendly owner, Justin, is very helpful if you have any particular needs or questions. Two things to know: no cell phone service (but there is a land line in the cabin), and you do hear cars and trucks going by on the highway which runs close by the cabin. However, all the other beautiful and peaceful things here negate that (for us, anyway). Can't wait to return again. Hate to leave...loved our stay very much!

Incredible cabin right on the river.
The Miners Cabin was by far 1 of the best cabins we have ever rented. The patio area of the cabin was INCREDABLE. It was right on the river it has a wonderful fire Pitt a great view and was much more than my husband and l ever anticipated. We had a small issue with the cabin itself but Justin was quick to respond and addressed it immediately. He even gave us a free night for the inconvenience. We had a wonderful time and will be going back soon. .
