Eating out nearby: This part of Catalonia is widely renowned for its good food and wines. There are many great restaurants in the area from the cheap and cheerful pizza parlours to the michelin starred gourmet restaurants. All have the same thing in common they are all extremely good value for your money. If cooking is your passion, then local raw ingredients are fantastic with fresh fish and shellfish, vegetables, fruit, breads and cheeses available locally in the market on a daily basis. There are a number of local vineyards only too happy for you to share their knowledge and taste their wines. All in all this part of the relatively undiscovered Spain is a feast for all your senses.
How to get here: Lots of people drive their own cars from mainland Euopean countries or the UK and Ireland. Begur is about an hour south of the French border and approx 90 min from Perpignan easily accessible on the AP7. It is also approx 90 min North of Barcelona. If driving is not an option then Girona is the nearest airport serviced by Ryanair (45 min) who also fly to Perpignan and Reus. Barcelona is a hub airport with numerous international connections and a number of low cost carriers including Easyjet, Spanair, etc.
We have a detailed directions sheet available for people staying and if you do get lost or run into problems we will be here to advise.
We can also arrange for you to be collected from the airport if you wish.
What is there to do nearby?: Begur is a medieval village with lots of character at the base of the castle ramparts. There are no high rise buildings or tacky mass developments The centre of the village is pedestrianised and a maze of charming narrow streets with some fascinating architecture. There are many wonderful restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. There are lots of small shops and boutiques in the centre of the village near the church square. This square tends to be the focal point for entertainment in the evenings with many artisan markets, art festivals, sardanas dancing and children activity programmes running all summer. In the local park ,which is just around the corner from the villa, there are facilities for both smaller children and teenagers alike.
Of course the local beaches have to be the biggest natural facility we have. Sa Riera is just at the bottom of the hill above the villa and nearby Aigua Blava, Sa Tuna, Aigua Freda and Pals mean you are spoilt for choice.
Golf, cycling, riding and walking: For the golfer there are a number of local courses within a very short distance. At Pals there are two good courses and at Emporda one of the best courses in Spain. There is no shortage of choice in this region with courses to suit all levels from the most challenging to the more forgiving. It is up to you. Club hire is available in most places and it is relatively easy to organise tee times.
There is a very friendly English speaking golf society locally if you wish to take part in any of their competitions that is easily arranged.
This area has a large number of well mapped and signposted designated walking and cycling paths. We can arrange hire of mountain bikes for you by the day or by the week. Discover the hidden Catalonia off the beaten track through tiny medieval villages, vinyards and fields of wild lfowers, rice, wheat and sunflowers. Heaven on earth!
We can arrange riding for you or simply a quiet hack along one of the beaches, through the forest tracks or countryside.
Food and Wine:
This area is renowned for its great food and wine.
El Bulli was best Restaurant in the World for many years and during that time many young chefs worked in their kitchen. There are now a number of wonderful restaurants in Catalonia owned and run by these former students of Ardrian Ferran.
Apart from these 'top end' places (which if you ask David or Phil Fleming about they will be happy to fill you in) local Catalan food is excellent. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and a basic 10/15€ menu del dia can be a fantastic culinary experience.
The local markets have wonderful fresh fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruit if you wish to dine at home or take a picnic to the beach.
Wine here is also great with a wide variety of styles and prices. Cava tasting is a must!
Activities for children: The local autority in Begur and in fact most of Catalonia are very aware that a happy child on holiday is the key to happy parents.
Almost every evening throughout the summer there will be something for children to do in Begur between 7 and 9 pm. Of course that doesn't mean your children have to go home at that time. In fact most Spanish families are only thinking of coming out at that time. Restaurants are used to children dining with their parents at any time of the night and children are welcome everywhere.
At the park in Begur there are bouncy castles inflated from 6pm, there is usually some 'activities' in the church square and on some evenings dancing for all ages from 8 to 80! Good fun for all the family.

Great view in the hill of Begur
The villa is perfectly situated in the heights of begur, which gives an incredible view on the bay.
The terrace is spacious with a nice pool, a barbecue and a ping pong table.
The street is quiet and there is space to park cars.
The city center is very close from home, and there is a lot of restaurants and bars.
Beach, supermarket, and gas station are in a maximum of ten minutes by car.
That was a good experience in Begur.

A beautiful well equiped villa.
All 9 of us aged from 4 to 70 thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The surrounding area is delightful and we visited the lovely medieval village of Pals with a very good restaurant at the bottom; Gatoxera I think.
Also very nice restaurants in Begur including Patit Blau and Hotela Aiguaclara.

Wonderful choice we highly recommend it
We had a fabulous holiday in Begur once again. This was our second visit this summer. On this occasion we brought a group of friends who had never been to the area before and they were blown over by the beauty of the place and quality of this villa for the cost.
From the word go our experience with Costa Brava Connections has been marvellous, very efficient booking, payment receipts, arrival procedure etc., Then of course the house is fantastic. We particularly like the outdoor kitchen/bar by the pool which was used every day.
The rooms are all well appointed and spotlessly clean and comfortable. The Wifi is good with UK TV if you want it. Everything you could want is in the house. It is obviously a home from home for the owners. The views from the house are stunning.
It is a five minute walk from Los Robles to the middle of Begur which has a lot of great restaurants and bars with lots of choice in terms of price ranging from pizza places to gourmet restaurants all of those we tried were excellent and inexpensive compared to home. Our favourite was Turandot which do a great evening 'menu'.
Sa Riera is the closest beach and is a gorgeous little cove with soft sand and has some restaurants just behind the beach. Our favourite there was La Riera.
Overall we can't recommend this villa and the location highly enough. We will certainly be back again.

Fabulous house near to the centre
We have been going to Begur since we were kids. My grandfather had a house in Sa Riera so we came for all our summers. Since we got married (I am from Madrid my wife is from New York) we have never before been to Begur. I wanted to show my own family where we had such good summers. Wow! they loved every minute. The beaches are great, nearby, and have not really changed much over the years. Begur is still one of the most beautiful places in Spain and hasn't really changed much at all only it is better now with more restaurants and things to do. It is still very 'old style' and Catalan. Of course the food in this area is special so we had fabulous food both in restaurants and cooking the local fish on the bar.b.que. Pa I Raim in Palafrugell was amazing if you like excellent food at reasonable price.
We went to Begur with the 'American Cousins' and our own three children. In total 6 adults and 6 kids from 4 to 14. This villa was just perfect. The house was exactly what we wanted. We found the service from the agency great from our initial contact to the morning we left. We found them to be friendly, efficient and informative. We arrived late so they kindly booked us a table at Pizzetta in Begur. David brought us there so that we found it quickly. What a great way to start a holiday!
The house is lovely, the views stunning, the pool area is very big and well equipped. Everything worked, was clean and well maintained. It was a real 'home away from home'. This villa was a great choice for our family and we want to go back next summer if we can.
We had a fantastic vacation in this villa and would certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

Fantastic villa, great service, stunning place
A big family get together, whilst our children are still young enough to travel with us, was our plan for this years holiday and to celebrate a big birthday. Our group ranged in ages from 6 to 65. This villa was the perfect location for us all. The house has absolutely everything you need for a great holiday with lots of space, it is well equipped with attention to detail. The beds are a good size and comfortable particularly important for our taller boys. The pool area with the outdoor kitchen and enormous BBQ is stunning and the pool fencing gave us peace of mind with the little ones. The main kitchen is a bit tight but we felt the two BBQs and the outdoor kitchen, which we loved, really was fun and encouraged us to spend long lazy evenings on the pool terrace. The sea views are gorgeous and really pretty at night.
From the first email to our departure the service we received from the agency was seamless, friendly and efficient. We were sent directions and arrangements in advance and they were excellent. Unlike the last time we rented in Begur we did not have to queue to collect our keys, linen, make beds etc., all this was taken care of. David met us with the keys, we were shown the house, he was incredibly informative and helpful. The house was extremely clean and well maintained. Overall we really felt it was a perfect choice for our family and are hoping to make this an annual event.

Excellent villa, quiet location, forget the car !
We found this villa to be just what we wanted. We could walk to the beach (downhill about 10 mins) and to all the restaurants, little shops, coffee bars etc., within a couple of minutes. Spending 50 weeks of our lives commuting this was bliss. The villa is spacious much more so than it appears on the website. The bedrooms are all big with plenty of wardrobe space (teenage girls!). There is a games room with table tennis, table football etc., which kept us all amused. The villa is looked after by a local english speaking company who do an excellent job (Costa Brava Connections). We unfortunately lost the key to our hire car and they were able to help and get us back on the road very quickly. Thanks Phil! The villa was well cared for with a change of linen half way through our stay and the 'customer service' we received was outstanding. Above all the location was just fantastic if you haven't been to Begur you should. It is a very special place with lots to see and do. The centre is very unspoilt and even though there are lots of restaurants and bars etc., all competitively priced, it has the feel that nothing has changed for generations. Lots of character, class, and a feeling of security that is not often possible to find. We were perfectly happy to allow our teenagers complete freedom to go into the centre of town, the nightclub, the beach etc., without worrying. Great villa, great place, great service! We have already booked for this summer.

Excellent choice for a holiday base in Begur
We stayed in this villa during the spring on a golfing holiday. We played a number of different local courses all of which were excellent. the house was in Begur but in a very quiet place with fantastic views over the sea by day and the illuminated castle and old town by night. We loved the area, the food, the restaurants are great.
The house was exceptionally comfortable. It is obviously a 'home from home' as it was far more well equipped than we have ever experienced in a 'rental' before. All the beds were extremely comfortable and large (unusually so for Spain). We will be back again and are glad to recommend it to our friends and any one else who wants a golf/walking/cycling holiday in that part of the world.

Adam and Paula Tyrell and family, Enfield, Middx.
We spent three weeks at this villa. We had a special birthday to celebrate and our family met from all corners of the globe. It was great! We found the villa spotlessly clean and well equipped with good quality fixtures and fittings. There is satelite TV, DVD, CD player. There are a small number of DVDs and CDs but would suggest you bring your own. Our family are all tall people so we were all very happy to see that the beds were long, great doubles, big, with good mattresses. The bedrooms were spacious and had lots of space for our clothes and suitcases etc., The villa has a games area in the garage/utility area with pool table, table tennis and foosball. The teenagers were delighted to have their own space and a big hit was internet access so they could keep in touch with their friends.
The villa is very close to the centre of Begur so an easy stroll into the restaurants, bars etc., We ate out a number of times and found the local restaurants to be of very high standard, family friendly and reasonably priced. We tried a number of different places and found them all to be equally as good. We shopped at the daily market in Palafrugell where the fresh produce was fantastic in both quality and range. Our 'resident' cooks had a wonderful time preparing meals with ingredients not so readily found at home. We found the kitchen small but very well equipped with everything we needed. We also barbequed on the terrace. The views at night are just beautiful. We bought local wines that were interesting and surprisingly inexpensive.
We were in contact with the local agents from the beginning. The whole experience was very easy. We found them to be extremely friendly and helpful. There is a 'guidebook' at the villa which has lots of local info with things to see and do and recommended restaurants etc., we found this very informative and used it when planning our days. The linen was regularly changed, the house was cleaned weekly, the garden and pool area well looked after generally the level of service excellent.
All in all we had a ball, would go back again to this villa and would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends. 10 out of 10!!! We'll definately be back.

Nice place for families travelling together
We stayed three families together for 14 days in July. With 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms the house was excellent for our use. The house was nice and clean indoors.
The children enjoyed the activity room i the garage section, with table tennis, snooker, and football game. The pool area was very popular too. The pool area needs some maintainance - there were some loose tiles, and the garden needs help from a gardener..
If you enjoy to cook at home, the kitchen is small and not very well equipped. The villa is 5 min walk from the centre of Begur, and there is a lot of nice and good restaurants nearby. From Begur there is a lot of possibilities whether you like swim and beach, hiking, or sightseeing.
Our experience with the Holiday Rentals representative in Begur was also very good.
