Quaint, Eclectic but not ageless. Our location was excellent. Supermarket at the corner, several spots for coffee and breakfast that were great. Two restaurants just over the canal serving Traditional Dutch Cuisine. The kitchen and living room large with plenty of light. Lovely large windows. The decorations were great. Close to Anne Frank’s House and 4-5 blocks away from a street with many different shops. Plenty of wonderful activity in the area. The description was not accurate. The wooden floors must have been original traditional Dutch but need a lot of care. There are 1 bath without toilet & (two water closets (toilets only), sleeps four but one pullout couch and one king size bed (only bedroom pictured). For us, the stairs and the wooden floors were the worse aspect of the apartment. Many steps, entrance set about 20 and two very winding narrow set 10-15 (one leading directly into the apartment’s first floor and the other to the Bedrooms). The top stairs to the bedrooms were so narrow and winding that we never brought our suitcases up.To bring the suitcases down, from the main floor to the street, we devised a pulley system. This apartment, despite its location, is not ageless, mostly due to the steps/stairs! We were three senior women who can walk 2-4 miles a day (ages 73 years old) or 18,000-20,000 steps a day. Mike was a good host. He also carried our very heavy suitcases to the first floor of the apartment. . He was always responsive.

The 9 Streets is a really great location.
Close enough to the centre and museums, with two supermarkets within 5 mins walk, amazing coffee at Kaldi on the corner, good wine shops and lovely city views.
The kitchen was well appointed and we enjoyed home cooked meals in the apartment at the big dining table.
The stairs are very steep, but we didn’t find that a problem. The roof terrace was a definite bonus.
Would definitely stay again.

We had a great 3 night stay in this amazing location. It was a perfect base for exploring the city. Although we inteded to take public transportation, we ended up being able to walk to almost all of the sites, restaurants, markets etc. that we had on our list. Grocery store and bakery are super close. Saturday night was bit loud on the street but that is to be expected and my kiddos still slept well. They also loved the crazy steep stairs to the top floor. It was a great space for us and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be right in the middle of the action and beauty of Amsterdam.

We loved staying here and being in such a central spot with all the liveliness of the ‘De 9 Straatjes’ area. The house was beautifully styled, light and airy and we especially enjoyed spending time on the gem of a rooftop terrace.
Mike was great to deal with, very responsive and quick to get back to me. And there’s great coffee, bread and pastries at a place called Bakkerij Wolf a few doors down. Travel light because even though it’s on the first floor there are lots of typical narrow dutch stairs.
Would definitely stay here again.

This was a great place, in a great location! I would stay here again, and would recommend this to any of our friends/ family.

This apartment is perfect for a short stay in Amsterdam. It is located in a relatively quiet area while still being within walking distance to Central Amsterdam and other attractions. The apartment is spacious and well kempt. I will say that the stairs are very steep and would not recommend for children or elderly.

We had a fantastic stay at Mike’s home. It is located in the nine streets shopping district and close to everything. We walked everywhere! There is a wonderful grocery store right on the corner, a two minute walk, from the apartment, and multitudes of restaurants nearby. We were able to stop back at the apartment midday multiple times for a “break” and that was great. I HIGHLY recommend adding the Canal Museum to your itinerary—a block or so away and 45 minute excursion with beautiful description of Amsterdam’s canal history.
There were three of us—my husband and I and our sixteen year old daughter. The bed was comfortable and our daughter was comfortable in the second bedrooms’s pull out hide-away. The jack and Jill bathroom worked out just fine and still afforded us nice privacy. The rain shower was great with reasonable water pressure. You’ll see from other reviews the stairs took a little getting used to and I would not recommend for anyone with any mobility concerns—but this is typical for canal area homes in Ámsterdam and even some restaurants. Mike had placed beautiful fresh tulips in vases through the home that really added to our enjoyment of Ámsterdam! His home has loads of wonderful character—creaky planks, tinkling radiators, and worn furniture and I loved it. Lots of big windows and lots of natural light but still lots of privacy in the midst of a busy shopping district. Outside noise really was minimal. Uber to and from the airport was simple and easy. We made a hot breakfast every morning and used the nesspresso machine but did not cook extensively in the kitchen. There is a washer, no dryer— but our clothes dried within 12 hours on the drying rack. Mike was immediately responsive when we had questions through VRBO email but also provided his cell should we have needed anything.
Just a lovely experience and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Thank you, Mike!!

We only had 3 nights and 4 days in Amsterdam - Mike's place was like being at home - cozy and with everything we needed - location was just fantastic to get to where we needed to go. I personally loved the way the place is decorated and wish we would have been able to stay longer. When we return to Amsterdam will certainly put this home at the top of the list to reserve!

Stayed two nights, and the apartment was amazing and perfect location for us. Host was so nice and very accommodating.

Very charming house, beautifully decorated, cosy with beds very comfortables. Situated in a fancy neighborhood, 15 minutes away by walking from central station or Van Gogh and Rijk museums, very practical to see a lot of things. Mike answers very quickly and is very helpful, as the people who welcomed us. We had, my husband and our children, a very nice few days stay. Next time, we'd stay longer.

Two of us spent two nights at this lovely apartment. The location is excellent and the roof terrace an added bonus if the weather is good - lucky for us it was so we could use it properly. Mike was very flexible on the check-in / out times and this was really helpful. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Amsterdam.

Mike's home is the perfect stay in Amsterdam! The location is very central to everything that we wanted to do. There is a grocery store on the same block and it is also surrounded by restaurants and shopping. The home itself was clean and very cozy. We would definitely stay here again!

Charming old Amsterdam apartment, ideally placed in the heart of Amsterdam, close to a supermarket, restaurants, shops, etc. 20 minutes walk to most Amsterdam attractions. Communication with Mike was very easy. Our departing flight was at 9.30pm so it was very convenient that we could leave our luggage in the apartment after checking out at 11am.

Amazing stay!
My best friend and I stayed at Mike’s place for 5 nights and we would definitely stay again! The location is amazing and extremely walkable to many of the attractions, restaurants, cafes, and shopping in the 9 Streets and Jordaan. The house is tastefully decorated, clean and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The best part is the roof top patio to enjoy when the sun is out. Mike is wonderful host and responded quickly to all of my messages and requests. If your dates are available, don’t hesitate on this listing. Book and have an amazing stay!

Mike’s apartment in Amsterdam was great. It is in a perfect location to walk to pretty much any attraction. Mike was easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed. Would certainly stay here again when we travel to Amsterdam.

Characterful, spacious property
Mike dealt with all our questions quickly and helpfully, showed flexibility with check in/out and left helpful guidance on the property and books/info re the area. The apartment was bigger than we expected and in a great location. A shame not to be able to use the outside terrace (three days of wind and rain!).

Unique flat in an A+ Setting
My wife and son stayed here for a weekend while seeing the sights and taking in Amsterdam. The location is perfect for walking to museums, shopping and entertainment, or just seeing the city centre. I would not recommend this flat for individuals who cannot navigate narrow and steep stairs; everyone else, it's perfect. Only one bathroom to share but two separate bedrooms that are nice, one with a rooftop patio that's magnificent.

Killer location
Great place to stay. Mikes place has an Amsterdam vibe in its furnishings and vibe. Super comfortable and eclectic apartment. Still five stars even though my wife commented it feels a little like a bachelor pad due to lack of TP and all the soaps were oddly watered down and nearly empty. I gave four stars for cleanliness because some pots and pans still had grease/oil splatter from whatever was cooked before we showed up. However communication with mike was so good I am sure he will rectify these small issues upon reading this review.
Roof top patio is great but took all my weight to pull the door closed. That hardware might not last long with the strain it is under to work that door closed.
Those four small issues are really the only ones I could find. Pretty minor.
Still, great place and I would stay again for sure.

This apartment is in a great location. Just far enough away from the tourists but close to attractions. Wish the restaurants were open but you can get really good delivery if you want. Mike is very Responsive to questions. We enjoyed the place very much. Comfortable beds and lots of room. The rooftop terrace is a key feature. Too bad the weather wasn’t nicer.

Brilliant location, beautiful and stylish property. Mike was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Somewhere to hang clothes would have been good. Highly recommend the property. Many thanks, Mike

Delightful apartment in a perfect neighbourhood
Situated in the Nine Streets, this apartment is conveniently located to all major museums. It is a relatively easy work wherever you wish to go. It is also surrounded by very good restaurants and boutique shopping.
The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days here.

Great flat in Jordaan!
This was the perfect flat for 4 of us to stay in the Jordaan area. Mike is a great host and responded quickly to any queries. The flat is fully welcoming and we enjoyed our mornings fixing our own coffee and breakfasts.

Fabulous location in bustling Amsterdam neighborhood
I stayed here in July with my husband and 13 year old daughter. This apartment is spacious and comfortable. The location is fabulous, an easy walk to Amsterdam Centraal, Museumplein, the Ann Frank House and many other attractions as well as a plethora of bars and restaurants.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It is important to note that there are a lot of very steep stairs up to the flat, which can be a bit difficult with large luggage and might be an issue for those with mobility issues. We got used to them quickly, though.
Mike was a good host, very responsive throughout our stay. He kindly allowed us early check in when we arrived on an overnight flight from the US, which made our arrival easy and was a great relief to our daughter!

Even Better Than We Imagined
My family and i stayed here for a couple nights midway through a trip to England and France. Of the places we reserved, this one was above and away the best. The location is amazing...a one-minute walk to a nice market and a koffeehuis and a quick 15-minute stroll through Amsterdam’s charming streets to the train station. The house itself is an Amsterdam dream...quite spacious and comfortable with a quality kitchen and a lovely terrace for relaxing. The beds were comfortable. Mike made us feel at home and answered all our questions promptly. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect location
Loved this area - really felt we were in the heart of the city and the apartment felt comfortably and homely which is always a welcome relief after walking around so much. Mike was really helpful throughout. The stairs are a novelty for sure but you soon get used to them and as mentioned previously suitcases were left in the dining room. The boys were a bit hot in the front bedroom and it was slightly small for them given they're both over 6' tall but we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Location, Nice Spacious Historical Apartment
The 9 Streets neighborhood is where you want to be. The inner city is very intense. The neighborhoods outside of the concentric canals are pretty mellow and nice too, but not as convenient for walking/biking to destinations. The apartment provides an authentic Amsterdam experience, and the roof deck is an amazing retreat for wine and snacks. Fully functional kitchen and dining areas if you want to cook at home, although we ate our meals out. Just make sure you can handle steep stairs, and you will have an awesome experience.

Great location
The 9 Streets area is fantastic. All of the charm of the city without the crush of tourists. Great boutique shopping as well as major designers are all within walking distance. And the food choices are incredible. Everything from Argentinian Steakhouses to sushi. Add to that a Michelin 1 star (The Duchess) that is no more than a 10 minute walk away.
The apartment is spacious and nicely furnished. The roof top terrace is a wonderful place to sit and relax. Beds were all comfy and when the weather was chilly, heating the apartment was not a worry.
A wonderful place to stay.

Wonderful home! A must stay
Situated in a lovely part of Amsterdam was this incredible home. It proved to be all we wanted for our stay. We got a real feel with the stairs and lovely roof terrace.
Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to be central. It's a lovely quiet street with a great coffee place less than a minute away and a good Super market. Evenings are quiet and listening to the Westekerk bells in the evening was blissful.
Mike was great with communication and leaving little books out for us to read. Some useful tips were also left for us to use.
Thank you.
