I love the Bess. The staff are exceptional, the building beautiful and central and the spot on the river outstanding.
It requires a little more maintenance. Our taps were not working properly. Our colleagues' taps simply came off in their hands in their room. And the restaurant menu needs updating. In a town full of spectacular restaurants, the food at the Bess is bland.

I thought by booking the Bessborough Hotel, I was booking the best hotel in Saskatoon, but I wasn't. I was booking a has-been, dodgy relic that is in bad need of a facelift. Honestly, even the staff had dust on them. Don't waste your money.
The rooms were out of date & the tiny windows were medieval. I had a luncheon event in one of the conference rooms & the food was bland & boring, service was poor & the room was grubby. Breakfast the next morning was held on the second level, of course not included in the way-too-expensive-room-rate, & the room was stifling hot. It looked like a 1980's cafeteria. Everyone working there looked dire & moved at a snails pace. Very disappointing all the way around.

very friendly staff, very clean hotel, great restaurant
Chose to not have housecleaning during my stay but couldn't seem to get in room coffee for 2nd & 3rd day, Even though I asked at the desk and was told it would be delivered to my room, I never received it.
Onsite parking is very limited.

The view of the river was wonderful! We enjoyed the historical aspect of the property. We really liked walking around and exploring. The staff was helpful and helped my husband deliver a gift to our room.
The property is old and so certain things are expected and understandable. We were woken in the middle of the night to a very strange rumbling sound coming from our heat vent. Not sure what the issue was. Our room was cold and drafty. The pool area was neat - a little old looking and we noticed cracks in tile and grout that looked green. We were disappointed that the wet sauna was closed. But, the most disappointing thing was the parking. It was very expensive! For one night we spent $44 for parking.

Room was modern and spacious. Room service was prompt. Front desk staff was very helpful.
The conference level is a little tired.

On my one-night stay this was a quiet and relatively clean no-fuss experience. I had the pool to myself to do laps. Staff were friendly and did their best.
I associate the name of the Delta Bessborough hotel with luxury. It felt like a rundown experience — more like a business hotel but without the amenities you expect. No robe in the room, no coffee shop on site (in the morning I had to go across the street to the Sheraton.) My room service hamburger was fine but there was no wine list, and when I asked the person on the phone didn't know what the wines were. If this were a midrange hotel this is what I'd expect, but this is supposed to be the top hotel in Saskatoon. It felt like checking into an airport hotel, not like staying at a historic site with a reputation for quality and excellence.

Our stay was excellent.
4.0
location, heritage property, comfortable beds
at check-in we were billed $100 for “incidentals” not yet incurred, tv and lamp on already in room on entry, room too hot, debris on floor, a hair on wash cloth, long raised fold carpet, steam room was closed, showers at pool change room were ice cold
