we enjoyed that it was close to our venue
everything was good

Staff was super friendly and always helpful.
Showers were cold for two days, obviously there was a problem with the central water heating:
Bar was closed on first night because bar tender felt unwell; fine but why no substitute?
Room specs from Booking.com didn‘t go through to their booking system, that’s annoying.
Though according to Booking.com stay were to be paid on site Hilton deducted the whole amount from my credit card beforehand - that’s inconsistent and bad business practice.
There was a non-refundable resort fee to be paid to fill an account for restaurant or bar consumptions - I felt ripped off.
Have been staying in this place for more than ten times, but will consider seriously whether I will return in the future - too bad.

Location and theme
Light in restroom kept shorting out; toilet ran and water temperature was lukewarm warm

We booked two rooms and the manager on duty was kind enough to give us one room with two beds, as I told him that my son is attending a basketball camp so two bed room would be very helpful for him to rest. Many thanks.
3.5
Staff and the beds.
Gym was very lacking. Rooms were quite small.

Close to our Berkeley college visit!
Very old building and the elevator felt like it was going to break. Wish rooms were a little more updated! Graduate hotels never have coffee in their rooms.
3.5
Conformable beds. Nice decor.
Shower water temperature cannot be controlled and swings wildly during the entire shower even if the knobs are not touched. A more modern mixer might do a better job.
Bathroom and toilet very small.
Universal power sockets will be appreciated.
The USB charger in the bedroom could do with an upgrade to USB C and fast charging to keep up with modern devices.

Stunning and felt warm
Loved it

It was a neat hotel, trying hard to be cool. Very close to Berkeley campus and not too far from Bart (about a 15 min walk). Staff were friendly and helpful.
Rooms were very tight. Morning food offerings were thin (no real breakfast offered).

Great location for a show at the Greek. Staff were very nice. Room was small but clean.
Lots of weird and unpleasant smells.

good restaurant inside the hotel
We had the faculty lecture and we wanted to extend chech out for 2 hours. We asked the staff and they did not allow as they told us new guests are coming. Berkeley was not that crowded with people on Tuesday as I have noticed. Also, other friends stayed in Shattuck hotel and we heard that they received much better treatment and all of them had early check in and late check out. wifi connection is not stable all the time as well.

Excellent location. Friendly and competent staff. Coop mix of old ans new/nice design features.
Strong perfume fragrance in the lobby. thought it was a guest at first but was there every day.

the excellent service, comfy beds and perfect location.
The bathroom is a little small.
1.5
The location is the best part of this place, especially if you're visiting the Berkeley campus and school. It's close and 5 min walking distance.
The room was not worth $400 a night. The biggest problems were in the bathroom: they didn't give you a lot of towels, it was old and outdated, the toilet would move if you sat on it, and the shower didn't totally work. The soap (shampoo/conditioner) that is free in the shower had yellow mold on the label, it was gross and dirty.
When we asked for a late checkout, the person at the front desk just said "no." No explanation, nothing. The hotel was not at full capacity we barely saw anyone else there.

location to access Berkeley campus
maintenance problems are in window and restroom. It felt like a ‘dorm’ with a 4-5 star hotel price.

Loved the location
Left my coat in the room and they weren’t able to return it to me. Found a couple stains on the comforter.

Bathroom (what bathroom? We had a shower with leaking door, toilet and no fan)

it’s one of the best Hotel I stayed so far, the location is the best, it’s close to all the restaurants , campus and my daughter Dorm, also I like hanging out at the lobby window area, I was able to take out food and eat it there in peace, the rooms are clean and comfortable beds, I have the clock tower fir a view , it’s cool.
no microwave
4.5
Comfortable spaces, fun old school university theme, student ID key cards featuring famous alums, pleasant bar and restaurants, very nice and accommodating staff all round (from the front desk to housekeeping to the bar). Also perfectly located for various campus and greater Telegraph Avenue doings.
Quite a minor issue but I would have loved caffeinated steamed coffee in my room. Only had a stock of decaffeinated.
