The food in the restaurant was delicious. Nice old artifacts everywhere. Lots of parking.
Our room was on a severe slant, which made you lose your balance if you got up at night to use the bathroom. Unfortunately the inn is located at a busy intersection, very noisy. Signs asking trucks to not use engine brakes would be helpful.
4.1
Room had 2 doors directly accessing two adjacent rooms which allowed a great deal of noise to disturb us for hours.
Room had NO hot water.

Breakfast was excellent!
Rooms are dated and some lack adequate privacy.

It is a beautiful historic Inn, warm & cozy, great food, drinks, staff and live entertainment.

i love the Red Lion which is why I have returned year after year since 1984. the facility, staff, location, ambiance, and attention to detail are first rate.
Like many places today they were challenged by staff shortages which made for slower service than usual. the biggest issue was unsupervised young children running through the hotel to all hours. that is a profound change from years past.

We were charged 500 euros to stay in this place. A small cottage behind the Inn. It was a dump, dirty, the beds squeaked and shook every time you moved in them. I had stayed before in the Inn and also in a small house again behind the INN years ago. This time the staff were terribly rude. They acted like you owed them something for staying here. You were nearly apologizing for ordering something. I am originally from Connecticut. I have spent many summers going to Shakespeare's plays on the green at Wharton's house and sitting on the porch of the Red Lion. I now live in Ireland We went out of our way to come here...I had took my elderly mother here for the night off season and What a disappointment. I so wanted to enjoy the stay. This place has lost its charm. I bunch of snobs and they have Zero reasons to be. The only positive experience was the village and the people there. Avoid this place
An overpriced dirty dump with attitude

We had an excellent breakfast and dinner in your lovely dining room. We also loved the live music in the Lion’s Den, and enjoyed the hot tub after dinner! Our room, #325, was comfortable and very quiet. The 2 shops on the property have many unique and beautiful gifts. The history throughout the Inn gives the feel of staying in a museum! Having Jack and Jane greet us was also sweet.
The carpets are well worn, and the lighting in common areas is dim, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!

we enjoy the hotel and staff
our room, water took long time to heat up. we can hear people above us. the faucet was broken.

Great building with lots of amenities and charming rustic features. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. When open, the restaurant serves great food. Also a good location for exploring the Berkshire area.
Just a personal note, the AC unit was a bit noisy during the night, but that won't be an issue for everyone.

The historic value the Inn has to Stockbridge itself was evident and impressive. I enjoyed learning about the Inn while there and seeing the framed art pieces, antique mirrors, and furniture. I am fond of Norman Rockwell’s drawings and was delighted to see so much of his work. The antiques were a variety of whimsy and treasured pieces, making exploring the Inn as you stroll to your room quite enjoyable. If you go, before you pack, know that they are serious about keeping the heated outdoor pool open even in the cold weather and that they provide bathrobes.
Not sure what type of elegance I was expecting, but I would say there was more character than luxury. I consider the Inn more whimsy than luxury. I was slightly hesitant to experiment with the buttons on the wall, but they were light switches. I was unfamiliar with the technology, but quick to adapt.

historic, right in the center of town
We didn’t know there were cats that wandered the building and unfortunately one of us is allergic, so we had to avoid the common spaces so her allergic reaction wouldn’t get worse. This was disappointing since the common spaces looked so cozy and beautiful.

Loved the oldie world atmosphere with beautiful antiques and comfortable rooms. Staff were all friendly, professional and helpful.
Bar closing at 9pm although this seems to be a USA problem. As it's such an old building the ensure was rather dated.

location, fireplace, historic, customer service
rooms & restaurant too expensive

We loved the room overall! The beds and pillows are good quality and quite comfortable, the best I have ever slept on in a hotel/inn. Everything about the bathroom was great - the hand-held sprayer as well as the overhead shower head, the deep tub with a shelf, the magnifying mirror, especially the heated floors! We appreciated the old style hooks that were sturdy and fixed to wooden boards instead of just sheet rock. Liked the big bottles of shampoo, conditioner & lotion that were actually usable. The common area was very nice and the kitchen area was well stocked.
Parking spaces at Maple Glen need to be marked because some residents park taking 2 spaces, leaving the last to come in at the end of the day with no place to park.
Not sure how to rectify the issue of the traffic in front of Maple Glen, however the work traffic was a problem in the early mornings.
It was dark when we checked in the first evening and the lobby was full of people so neither of us saw the sign about the breakfast prices until we checked out. When the man checked us in he told us the time frame breakfast was served. We have each stayed at many hotels & inns for years. Whenever we are told the time frame breakfast is served it is because breakfast is included in the room price. We were surprised the next morning when the waitress asked if we wanted to pay or charge our breakfast to our room, especially when we learned it was $22 per person. Needless to say we did not have breakfast at the inn again. Please draw attention to the sign about the cost of breakfast when checking in to avoid this.

no cleaning of room, no bed made, no service if bar not open. ie tea coffee.
despite all this zero reduction in price offered.

Too far from dining room

Location
Room was not up to the standards of places we have stayed. Poor value for the money paid.
4.1
It looked good and authentically old. There were interesting pictures and old notices to look at. The room was pretty. The staff were helpful. The pool was good.
The food was great.
It really needed some love and investment. The carpets were worn and stained in places. The antique bath and sink were interesting but very stained. A deep clean would be good. Above all I felt it was overpriced, especially as there was no tea or coffee facility in the room.

I know the hotel. Food was excellent as was the service and we got complimentary bottle of good wine for our anniversary
I didn't find anything to cause distress

Historical 'olde worlde' vibe was great. Loved the veranda rockers! Main restaurant food was really nice.
Staff in the main restaurant not at all welcoming. Miserable you might say...

location and historic interior and exterior
first night heating system was out of control. no one could help that night; was a miserable night. next day they replaced apparently some parts in one of the 3 heating systems in the hotel.

authentic comfortable room. Maple Glen building had nice downstairs living/dining area for a personal wine and cheese/bread evening

food was good, bed comfortable, but too high to get into easily. We are older.
Way over priced,
