Grounds were shoddy and room looked tired, there were two unsightly large fire extinguishers on the floor in my bedroom. The duvet was too narrow even for a single bed.

A real surprise, highly recommended in every way!

Quiet, and out the way. But, near to the town, walking distance. Breakfast fantastic, one of the best I had for some time. Would come back, thanks!

This was the second time I’d stayed there, last time about 5 years ago. The first time I was in The Lodge which was an outbuilding across the road, whereas this time I had a room in the main building which I preferred. I loved the old fashioned charm of the house with its stained glass windows and wooden features. The bedroom was warm, comfortable and quiet. The location is nice and peaceful in a quiet leafy road and it’s only about 10-15 min walk into the town centre, probably the best of both worlds. They allowed me to check in earlier than it said in the booking information which was very helpful and I was allowed to leave my car in the car park after checking out so I could spend some more time exploring on foot. The car parking is ample around the site once you see and follow the signs.

The shared bathroom was fine and only across the corridor, however it was a bit too warm in there, the heating must have been up too high. Breakfast was probably the weakest part and I remember thinking the same thing 5 years ago but considering it’s included in the price and it’s one of the best value places to stay in Hitchin town centre or nearby, it’s still worth the stay even without the breakfast. I find the breakfast finishes a little bit early at 08:30 and the cooked breakfast wasn’t as appetising as I’d hope, with a lot of the components such as the eggs, mushrooms and even the sausages seeming to be cooked in excessive water which makes them seem a bit wet and underdone. I had the cooked breakfast 5 years ago and it looked the same on this visit so I just had a bowl of cereal. That’s the only minus point to the whole trip and visit, everything else was great!

I had to walk through offices and library to get to my bathroom had some very strange looks. So wouldn't stay here again and I don't think this property should be on booking.com for workers like myself to book.

.Good location. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Enjoyed my stay very much. Quiet surroundings, but with beautiful music sometimes in the evenings.

A fantastically pleasant experience.

The staff were very friendly. A great setting. Room was excellent. Breakfast was superb. All in all, simply brilliant. From a musician's point of view, definitely want to go there again. 😊
