Great, convenient location only a ten minute drive to Killington. Beautiful property with great views -- we had a spring running right outside our window. Comfortable room and bed with lots of thoughtful touches that made storage easy. An absolutely wonderful breakfast made by Mike! French toast, an omelette, fruit, and breakfast ham. Truly a memorable stay; we hope to return!

I liked Everything about Mountain Valley Retreat ! thank you so much to Mike and Barb for such an amazing service, the house is beautiful and clean. The room and bathroom was excellent. A huge queen size bed, very comfortable and quit place. Mike did the breakfast, I had the best pancakes and coffee ever! it was amazing. I highly recommended it!

So unique and cozy in a snowy wonderland near the Appalachian Trail. Mike and Barb were wonderful hosts, greeting us at night and making amazing eggs Benedict in the morning. Rooms were very pretty and beds were comfy.
There is no light on the sign by the road. luckily we saw it! The bedroom we were in had some sort of crunchy plastic on the mattress under the sheets but was still comfortable. The stairs to the rooms are narrow and harrowing, especially if you have heavy luggage. There was also a bit of a curry-line smell in our bedroom, but not in the rest of the house. But very faint. I think all these things are par for the course for a mountain retreat!

I really liked the hosts, liked talking to them, really adds a personal note.
Not big thing and really a personal preference- the bed was a bit too soft for me. That is really the only thing! Otherwise the hosts and the property was really 👌

Beautiful property in the woods. Great breakfast with fascinating host. Other couple visiting was very nice.
A little fancy for us. Weird sharing bathroom.

Mike and Barbara were absolutely wonderful. The retreat is beautifully located between green mountains (in spring, white in winter) and offers a good location to stay at for hikers. There are some interesting trails very close to the house. Moreover you’ll have a great breakfast and the opportunity have great conversations with the hosts which is a big plus! Not to forget Bailey, who is a good boy (dog) and takes his assignment to chase away the squirrels very seriously. Would highly recommend anyone visiting this area to stay here, we will definitely try to get back for another stay.

I loved everything about my stay here. It was the highlight of my one month trip (that included many stays across two continents). It is nicely out of the way (a short slightly muddy drive to make you feel like you are out of the town) but yet convenient enough to civilization (5 min drive to food and 5-10mins to killington ski resort) and is surrounded by just beautiful nature. Breakfast is home cooked and amazing and the breakfast table is shared with guests in the other room so that makes for lovely conversation. Mike and Barb (and their dog) are just amazing hosts and surely made me feel like i was well taken care of. I was down with viral gastroenteritis very shortly after shifting in and was down between the bed and toilet for the next 24hrs. Mike frequently checked in through text to ensure i was doing fine, brought me medications and offered to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for me. This is how i can also attest that the bed is super comfy and the toilet is very clean (it is shared but just amongst the two available rooms). Would definitely visit and stay again if i ever get the chance.
Nothing at all. It is however i think impossible to get around without a car

Breakfast was fabulous! Mike goes above and beyond to help guests. It snowed when we were there and he was out snow blowing so we could get in the driveway. He also helped to clear the guests cars of snow.
You share a bathroom, but to be fair, you know this up front.

Hosts were very interesting and personable. Breakfast was excellent. Room cozy with lots of places to store luggage, etc. Location convenient to Killington but not at all on the beaten path.
More like staying in a very upscale hostel than a hotel, in terms of interaction with the hosts. You do have to be prepared to be a bit of a guest in someone's home. Not a BAD thing; just something to be aware of.
