It was an unique experience , and a pleasure adventure . The caboose , that seemed to serve its time from the outside, offered a cozy and clean inside . We loved the Reading Loft! There are goats nearby! Close to Yosemite. The host super caring and friendly
We got what we expected, some adventures , some surprises , calmness.
A kettle would really make a difference in the morning:) it was a little pricey

Rusty greeted my family and I. He is super friendly and a superhost. We loved the binder with instructions and recommendations. The Caboose is charming and comfy after a long day of recreational activities. 100% recommend

My favorite part of the property was the goats surrounding. Goats have always been very therapeutic to me. The property was just amazing!

Loved the property! We drove from Seattle down to Pasadena for a softball tourney. We decided to visit some places for the week of Thanksgiving, on our way back. For the last leg of our trip we went to Yosemite, which was about 45 minutes away from the caboose.
The park was so crowded we left early, we were pretty disappointed but when we got back to the property we got to play with the goats, which made the last day of our stay the most memorable!
There’s a kitchenette which has everything you need to prepare small meals (utensils, pots pans, coffee filters, can opener etc) which was nice, especially after spending days in hotels and eating fast food, it was nice to make some hot soup and sandwiches. The bed was comfortable and even on a very chilly November night, the heater worked great.
The property is located in a development of 5 acre homesites, the owners home was there and there was also a very adorable treehouse on the property that another couple was renting, plenty of privacy. We chatted with the owners, they were great, easy going and kind, just good people!
I don’t know if we’ll ever get back down to Yosemite but if we do, we’ll definitely stay there again!
Our favorite goat was Nemo, he has the black feet, he’s the sweetest one there. ♥️
That I couldn’t stay longer

The fleece sheets on the bed were great.
The heater did not keep the caboose warm. The couch was not very comfortable.

Very clean !!! I have traveled plenty of places first time staying in something like this , usually I do hotels very different but was nice. I do have to say out of all the places I stayed I have never slept in a bed so comfortable in my life I will be looking for a mattress like that ! Bathroom was perfect size not to small plenty of room to get ready . Even tho it was close to main house which I felt iffy about it was like we where alone didn't see or hear anyone all 3 days I was there . The good defiantly out weight the bad I would recommend this place .
Beautiful property but as you open the door to exit you see the neighbors property which looks like a junk Yard which takes from the rest . Also by the pictures I thought we where going to be secluded and not so close to the main house .

We enjoyed the homey and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed spending our weekend in an old caboose in the woods. The hosts and their pets were welcoming and professional.

The location was very nice. Isolated, quiet with in a rural setting.
The stairs into the caboose are a little a little hard to navigate especially when carrying a large ice cooler down. They are narrow and the riser height halfway up changes dramatically.

quiet and good location to the park. The caboose was well stocked with supplies. the owner was prompt with problems that came up.
Since there was really hot weather and unexpectedly this time of year the A/C did not seem powerful enough. Maybe put another one in near the bathroom.

The location is absolutely fantastic! Oakhurst really is a great small town. For those looking to escape and get to the countryside, this is the place! Quaint and very peaceful neighborhood. Our boys were pleasantly surprised with our Caboose stay, as we had kept it a surprise until we drove up. Although small, there was plenty of space for our family of 4. Besides, we had day trips planned for our entire stay. We simply needed to have a place to snack and sleep. The place was perfect for our needs. The goats were also a hit with all of us and we had one kid that snuck out and kept us company while playing chase with the boys. We are already saving this place as a fave and anytime we are thinking of going to Yosemite or even the town of Oakhurst, we will check if The Little Red Caboose is available.
The place could have been cleaned a little bit better. Dusty nightstands and under the bed. Some of the dishes were greasy from previous use. A few other maintenance issues, but nothing that was major or too inconvenient. I mentioned these items to Rusty prior to this review in which he's already hiring a better crew to keep the place clean.
