The location to the city
It is in a restricted zone, so difficult with bike or car, they have parking about 200m away - you get a €2 discount !!!!!
The hotel is on the 3 floor with an antiquated lift that 2 people and luggage struggle to get in.
Very small rooms

This property is in walking distance of everything and is reasonable priced , it has a nice common area also the bathroom was clean , however the room we had the walls were quiet dirty then bed wasn’t overall comfortable and the bedding was too heavy for the weather
The overall bedroom wasn’t to our taste definitely not to a 3 star standard , the room felt quiet musty , fine for a few nights but not necessarily a relaxing space we wanted to spend much time in

The hotel is located right in the heart of the old city. Just turn right out of the hotel door and follow Via Cairoli to Via Garibaldi, which has many fantastic old houses. There's lots of food options nearby, and you can enjoy just wandering around the narrow streets of the old city and taking in the sights. The room is cozy and clean.

Great location. We booked a room for 4 and were pleasantly supprised that we had 2 separate but connected rooms.
It was tricky to find the reception as it was in the 3rd floor and not clearly sign posted.

Room was great once we arrived at it but no coffee or breakfast available, very old fashioned lift which was awkward to say the least with luggage
No vehicle access, no coffee or breakfast and the lift was awful

Location, staff
4.0
Never stayed in Genoa prior to this trip. Hotel Cairoli is centrally located. Easy to walk around and explore the city. I was impressed. The history, zigzag neighborhoods, plain church façade but inside - Amazing!! - the food was just as good. I'll be back to stay longer.

The location is fantastic. A 10 minute walk from the train station and on the same street as the Palazzi di Rolli, not to be missed sights. Lots of restaurants and shops at your doorstep. Friendly and helpful staff.
The only down side here is noise. I did not hear any street noise but could hear folks in neighboring rooms. However, this is a family place and everything was quiet by 11 or so.

great location, staff very positive and tried, access to fresh air landing, good shower, clean
was still a bit confused with directions at times despite staff very admirable efforts

Nice place, very well located in the centre of town, room is spacious, you have all necessary amenities.
The staff are very nice, and helpful.
It can be noisy, as one of the walls was shared with another room, but this is more due to our neighbors than the place itself (walls are thin). Bathroom ceiling could use some refurbishing, nothing major, place is still ok.

Room arrangement and architecture
Bathroom was noisy due to a device that runs anytime water is flushed.

It was close to everything, very central.

I chose this family-run hotel for a one-night stay between Milan and Turin because it was convenient for leaving my luggage when arriving on the bus and before leaving on the train: both only 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. It is in the top half of a palazzo and once you are there it is like being in a modern art bubble: the reception is decorated a la Mondrian and each room is decorated in homage to an artist: my single room had a yellow Josef Alpers mural! There is a very spacious public area with a cosy corner for watching TV and the fish tank, and a roof terrace with seating. A lot of families were staying and this would be perfect for a rainy afternoon for tired sightseers. Breakfast was very good, with the owners in attendance, making sure everything ran smoothly.
Genoa is a very interesting city, essentially developed in the 17th century on a hill with very tall buildings along very narrow streets and full of wonderful baroque art and churches, as well as earlier treasures. However, once one is in the back streets (thank you iPhone maps!) it is dirty, smelly and squalid with large numbers of prostitutes hanging around from midday: this made me sad and, despite having seen many beautiful and/or interesting things, I was glad to leave after my day there.

Breakfast was nice, staff were super friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean.

Location was great, close to railway station, city centre and port.
Buffet breakfast was excellent and well worth paying extra for.
Our family rooms was actually two interconnected rooms which was ideal for a family of four.
Nice lounge area and roof terrace.
It is not very clear how to reach the hotel (on the third floor) once you go through the main door from the street. A few signs would help, as we climbed the wrong staircase, with our luggage, not realising that there was a lift!

The Hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of Genoa. There are restaurants and other facilities just outside the hotel in a number of streets close to it. Shopping and local attractions are also close by together with local transport connections (bus/trams).
The staff were very friendly but do not be confused by perfect English messages that you receive before arrival as no English is spoken by main staff. They do speak at least Italian and French.
Local nearby bar/restaurant featured 'Elvis Presley' 'live' not to everyone's taste but other quieter bars available nearby.
Breakfast excellent with a variety of foods to choose from at a self service breakfast.
The information given by the hotel and the picture of the hotel is a little misleading. The rooms are on the 4th/5th flour of a multipurpose building on a traffic free street. This makes arriving in a vehicle with luggage a little difficult.
There is parking available but this is a short drive away and an additional cost, in my case 30 Euros for the nights parking.
Despite this we would use the hotel again but only if we were not driving to it. Perhaps a good base for weekend in Genoa.
