About this villa rental

This 17th century villa has been lovingly restored to reflect life as it was when it was built.

The villa consists of a central body 'ANTICA RESIDENZA 120 sqm', and 7 additional independent houses.

Through the vegetable garden, and orchard you have access to the houses. Each house has its own private kitchen, bathroom and outdoor area. All the rooms exude a Mediterranean atmosphere, a journey through the sensations and colours of Sicily. The interior has been restored with local natural materials and is furnished in traditional Sicilian country style, with items that show total respect for the history and background of things.

VILLA SALINARA is surrounded by nature and culture, and is a few steps from the sea. Time flows slowly, away from the increasing pace of the big cities. It is a place of indisputable charm, surrounded by thousands of colours from the salt pans at sunset, with rare pink flamingos that hover between the old windmills.

There are many typical eno-gastronomic products, the famous local wineries producing Marsala wine, Olive Oil “Nocellara of Belice”, the local sheep cheese, ricotta-filled cannoli from Dattilo, the popular cous cous with fish soup.
I invite you to take one of “Katia’s cooking classes”. I promise you'll laugh AND learn and eat some unforgettable food!

For those who love sports can enjoy sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, horses and fishing.

Some of our first guests explained it best:
“An example of artistic and ethical recovery in Sicily on the edge of a nature reserve.”
“After we got up this morning, we went out with the bikes, we saw the sea, the vineyards and the windmills. So we decided this just might be the most beautiful place on earth”

Come to have a magical stay.

We will greet you and show you the essentials… and we are nearby and available by text should you need anything. We respect your privacy-this stay is for YOU!

Yumi & Adriano Were the most amazing hosts. Our entire group were made to feel so welcome and they both went over and beyond to help accommodate us during our stay. The Villa was not only comfortable but beautifully restored and stylish. We cannot thank Yumi & Adriano enough for all their outstanding hospitality. You truly are running a business not only based in passion but from your heart!

Our party of 4 adults stayed for 12 days at the beginning of September 2014 at Villa Salinara, near Marsala in the province of Trapani, Sicily. We stayed in two parts of the large house - the lovely Emporio of Grapes and the smaller and less fancy Aqua Santa house. The Emporio was impressive on arrival, Aqua Santa less so. One wall of Aqua Santa needed painting following some re plastering works but it provided a large airy room with a fantastic shower room. Emporio is stunning - being a former chapel it has a lovely high roof above a fantastic long dining table and comfy lounge area. It has a beautiful and practical kitchen. The fridge freezer clucks like a chicken which made us laugh but it was ample and an excellent place to store our grappa! The bathroom is a bit dark and would be nicer if painted a lighter colour. At first one can be forgiven for thinking some things here are a little basic - but as the cares of every day life fall away as you relax into your stay the simplicity of the accommodation and beauty of the stone, marble, tiles and wood around you helps to accelerate that feeling of chilling out and generally focussing on the simple sheer beauty of the place. The grounds are pretty and we loved using the outdoor barbecue area each night with bats flying low over the fig trees at dusk. There is a pretty secluded grassy area with hammocks under trees at the front of the property for a relaxing space too. Shan the Sri Lankan general tinkerer and odd job chap on site is lovely, bringing us fresh eggs from the resident hens most days . Ever helpful with directions and on hand to sort any issues around such as a loss of hot water to the shower sometimes! Immediately resolving things which was great. Adriano and Yumi the owners are also most helpful. Adriano gave us a good grounding in things to do and see in the area and their very helpful leaflet about the house and the surrounding area is fantastic. The restaurant recommendations good - especially La Pineta at Selinute which was a fantastic beach restaurant. Marsala was lovely and the fresh fish and produce market a must for the wonderful large barbecue in the garden that you just have to use. Roasted sea bream and courgettes do very nicely on it! And we would recommend amongst many other things a visit to Favignana, Egadi island. Take the ferry from Marsala, hire bikes and explore. If you are looking for a peaceful, simple and rejuvenating stay Vila Salinara is ideal.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I was welcomed by Adriano and Yumi. The villa is full of beautiful details, it's spacious and my room had a very comfortable bed. Yumi prepared a delicious strawberries marmalade and Adriano was able to give me tips of where to go around Marsala. The best part about Villa Salinara is its location, a 5 min walk to the sea which has a small wooden bridge on the sand with clean blue waters and plenty of sun! This place is nice to stay and exactly as described! Sitting at the balcony and looking at the sun dawn into the see - face to face to Africa - great! Many household machines for cooking and washing, even a juicer, and also WiFi - perfect! We enjoyed to stay there and will come back another time! THANKS!!!

We had a great stay at Villa Salinara. We were greeted with a beautifully illuminated villa, local wine, local bread, dry tomatoes, and instructions containing anything and everything we could possibly need in english. This place has the best of both worlds-the privacy and beauty of being in nature. If you're looking for a unique and memorable experience, this is the location for you. It was very clean, spacious and tastefully decorated with gorgeous authentic tiles and lovely old furniture. The bathrooms facilities were good (powerful hot shower) and having a kitchen was great. We didn't expect to cook much but actually ended up making food a couple of nights. There is a fantastic food shop close by and the tomatoes from the vegetable garden were incredible! Not to mention the lemons and the figs! Adriano is such a lovely person, he communicated well with us and picked us up from the airport, and went out of his way to help us to find the restaurant. Location is good if you don't want to be surrounded by tourists. We had a fantastic time and would recommend to all of our friends and family in Japan. Thank you Yumi and Adriano!

We spend one week in this beautiful apartment in June 2011. It was absolutely fabulous. This old traditional building is lovely reconstructed and decorated up to every detail! It has this lovely atmosphere of an rustic sicilian cottage. Yumi and Adriano were perfect hosts making us feel as their welcomed guests, they showed us around in the area and gave us tips where to go or where to buy what. We could pick vegetable from their organic garden, and we even had our own herbal garden next to the terrace. We enjoyed every minute we stay there! The cottage itself is situated in a quiet and non-tourist area, that allows to really feel in touch with the people, nature and environment. By using the bicycles that belong to the house, we were able to explore the surroundings and go to the nice places for dinner or for spending the daytime. We can absolutely recommend this place and would return, if we get the chance to go to Sicily once more!

The villa inside had lots of space for the 14 of us and had everything we needed (hairdryer, bed linen, towels, etc.). The bed was especially comfortable and we could catch up on some sleep. We had some meals out and cooked some in the wonderful kitchen. There were also supplies of coffee, fresh eggs and lots of fresh vegetables from the vegetable garden. The dishwasher in the big kitchen meant we did not have to do much washing up which is great on holiday. There is a lot of space to relax outside - we had breakfast outside most mornings and lovely Sicilian wine in the evenings next to the fig tree. On one afternoon when we came back from the Marsala market with a lot of fresh products we had a gorgeous long lunch under the trees in the shade. And what a luxury to have such fresh figs to go with the local cheese :-) Yumi and Adriano also provided many leaflets, maps and brochures about the area and information about anything happening close by which was very useful. They were very hospitable, welcoming and friendly and even provided us with a gorgeous bowl of fresh fruit on our first morning. They were always on hand and happy to stop and chat or provide advice on good beaches or suitable outings. They never walked past us without a friendly greeting and really made us feel at home. It is a brilliant base from which to explore the area - we made trips to Erice, Trapani, Custonaci, Selinunte, Segesta, the Marsala beaches as well as the beaches between Torre San Teodoro and Birgi. The weather was spectacular! We especially loved Marsala being so close - such a gorgeous town with lots of photographic opportunities, wonderful fish market, friendly people, great shops, lots of opportunities to wander, explore and have coffee. And we were bowled over at the reasonable prices - you certainly cannot sit down in Tokyo, have two coffees in such amazing surroundings and pay just two euros. A week was too short and we wish we could have stayed longer. There were lots of places left to explore so we will have to come back... Thanks very much to Yumi and Adriano for making our stay such a pleasant one, we loved the villa and after having driven past many other decided this one was the prettiest!

I've been home for a couple of days now but Sicily still comes to me in my dreams. Saturated technicolor visions of beauty and simplicity accompanied by the scent of oranges. I can still feel the tranquility and serenity imbued by this little marvel of understated perfection. One can could say that Andriano's and Yumi's sense of "sprezzatura" creates a holistic environment fit for books and fantasies. Great hosts. Great location. Great food. Great wine. Great lifestyle Simply great. Our heartfelt and sincere best wishes goes out to Adriando, Yumi and Family. Hope to see you in Stockholm come wintertime!

We had a fabulous week staying in Villa Salinara. Having read some of the reviews I was a little nervous about finding the house and circumnavigating Marsala however Yumi's instructions we had no problems and arrived early. Adriano welcomed us and even showed us their synergistic vegetable garden where they grow fruits and vegetables without chemicals and gave us lots of vegetables to use. The welcome pack as the local wine, local olive oil, local salt and dry tomatoes were a lovely touch and much appreciated. The property is a joy to look at but also to stay in, with a unique interior. Whilst the structure is historic there are no compromises on the facilities that are provided with tasteful sicilian furniture, good storage and an incredibly well stocked kitchen with enough crockery and glasses to serve the most extended family. Although outside it was very hot, the villa was cool. The wifi worked well... We enjoyed the external area in front of the property and had a number of barbeques with the grill provided. We went running in the evening and didn't meet a soul. Marsala was very quiet in the evenings, with real charm and excellent restaurants tucked away along narrow streets. Good café selling ice creams and informal restaurants selling good pizza. We hired a car and therefore had trips to the beachs (Torre San Teodoro, Custonaci, Marsala and Selinunte-a must) as well as Trapani and Erice, which were spectacular. We could have wandered around the latter all day. We'd like to thank Yumi and Adriano for a memorable stay and recommend staying in this property to everyone that is going to visit Sicily.
