Great place! 10 minutes walk to the west entrance to the rainbow mountains. Service was above average (when we arrived we were driven to a place to have lunch). You can eat hotpot for dinner. Tents are very comfortable!!
Breakfast was a bit dry. It would be better to serve portions to each guests instead of a buffet, when there are few people. But it was still nice to have breakfast included :-)

very close, within walking distance of the National park, provided electric blankets and heaters for the colder months, shower block had toiletries and towels, breakfast mix of asian and western, could eat as much as liked, plus some much needed coffee!

We didn’t expect much as it was in a yurt and we came only for the experience but we loved it so much there that we extended for 3 more nights. The place is great, staff is very nice, hot pot tasteful. I really recommend the place.

The staff was very helpful and some of them spoke English. The location was very good, only 600 meters from the entrance of Danxia National Geopark. At night it was very quiet and I could see thousands of stars, quite a treat in China. I also really liked the yurt I was staying in.
The morning that I left there was very loud construction happening on the property that started at 7:00 am. I was extremely frustrated. Also, the only thing they offer for dinner is hot pot. It would be nice to have more options.

The hotel and staff were very nice. Eventhough it was quiet because of the pandemic they offered full service, the breakfast buffet was still open and very nice (loved the waffels and coffee). On the first day for dinner we did the hotpot, which was very pleasant. The tents are a lot of fun to spend a few nights in. The location is also perfect, close to the main tourist spots. Special note about the cute dog, ready to cuddle with all the customers, so lovely.
Well these are tents, so as a customer, don't make too much noise at night! :D

If you're in Zhangye to photograph the dunes, this is the place to stay. It's right not to the park and you can pop over for both sunrise and sunset while easily returning to your yurt inbetween. In fact, it is so close to the park that it is basically in it, some of the dunes forming a dramatic backdrop immediately behind the camp. There is also an adjacent wash which you can hike up if so inclined and this too is outside the park. As for the facilities, its more like "glamping." Showers are great. They even have disposable razors and all that sort of thing. Lots of hot water. The rainbow lighting of the dunes at night is s little kitchscy but beautiful. It is a very distinctive place to stay, that is for sure. It should probably be more popular than it appears to be. There is not much to the town and it is far away. I am happy to have stayed somewhere closer to nature.
The management should group families together in the same part of the camp away from travelers without children. The reason is that families are likely to keep to a different schedule than adult travelers. Travelers without children are likely to go to bed early so they can get up at 430AM and go see the sunrise at the dunes. By contrast, families with kids are much less likely to attempt this. Instead, they will stay up later and continue making noise later. It is for this reason that families and childless travelers should be grouped separately. All that said, I do not think this issue overly impacted my stay. On a different note, if you're less interested in visiting the dunes at different times of day to take pictures and more interested in hitting multiple sights in the area like temples and such then it may be better to stay in Zhangye town after all because it will be easier/cheaper to organize day tours from there.

Super-friendly host David, very helpful staff overall, David came to pick us up from the station, delivered safely to site where we loved seeing the yurts that we were going to stay in! Our yurt was super-clean, lovely bedding, spacious and had all mod cons. The site is tucked next to the edge of the Rainbow Mountains park and a 10minute walk to the West Gate (I think it's the West gate!) A fantastic location, gorgeous breakfast, might need your own transport but David organised a driver for us who was great. Dinner was self-service BBQ which was ok.
Shared bathrooms (separate women's and men's) were all fine and showers were very good in that the water pressure was great, toiletries were lovely and water was hot; also fresh towels were waiting as well as shower shoes (sliders) if you needed them. I would say though that the shower and toilet block could do with a bit of decorating attention so that they come up to the high standards of the rest of the site.
Note the beds are not western mattresses but are comfortable.

I liked the atmosphere and location of the place. It was very beautiful up next to the mountains. I liked that the bathrooms had towels, slippers, and hair dryer.
The breakfast did not have a wide selection of food items. It would be helpful for hotel to have regular tea bags and hot water for guest. In case they do not like coffee or herbal tea. The table clothes in the restaurant area were not very clean.

Location is very close to the Danxia Rainbow mountain. All staff are very nice and helpful. David is very responsive in communication which make our stay very convenient. He took us around the city to visit the Giant Buddha temple.
When we reserved the pickup service from the train station, the driver of the car drove a bit carelessly. Also with the temperature outside of about 40 Celsius, it was quite hot inside the car. Apparently the car has no AC. Maybe in the future, David should select appropriate car and driver for the service.

Location is very nice.
Hot shower with enough water pressure.
Quiet in the night.
Restaurant served self BBQ only and they were closed during lunch time.
Only one or two restaurant stuffs can speak English.
Western style toilet was broken.

The location was amazing being only a few steps from the national park. The lit up rocks at night were a beautiful bonus.
The shower facilities smelled like mildew and only one of four toilets in the toilet blocks near my tent was a sitter - the three others were squatters.

Location and overall facilities
Food options were not very good. Breakfast was “meh”, and bbq dinner had few vegetarian options

So close to the Rainbow Mountains and AMAZING staff

Fantastic place to stay, staff very friendly and helpful. They recommended we return to the park in the morning for sunrise which was well worth it. Sunrise was scheduled for 5.55am we left park a bit late at 5.30am but I would recommend leaving an hour before sunrise to get to viewing point in plenty of time. If you have a ticket from previous day you only need to pay 20 rmb extra for bus.
Tents were clean, comfortable and well maintained. Highly recommended
Great place to stay however could do with more meal options available in evening. Simple fried rice or noodles would have been great. The only option available was hot pot which was average.

Really good experience stay so close to colorful Mountain.
Accommodation very clean and comfortable.
Staff friendly and I would like to thank again Mr. David.
Chinese and western breakfast.

Clean, both the tent and the shared bathroom (where showers are located). Nice waffles at breakfast :-)
The position is perfect because the West Gate is just 5 mins walk away , so it is really convenient if you plan to enjoy the sunrise from inside the park, as we did.
Nothing really to be mentioned

Everything was perfect! The tent has some basic necessities, the beds are soft, spacious plus the bathroom/toilets are so clean. The slippers and towels have their sanitation cupboard. The shower was great with shampoo and body wash. They also have sink areas outside so you don't really have to go to the bathroom to brush your teeth. It was a pleasant experience. It is a 5 minute walk to the gate of he Rainbow mountain so this place is very convenient if you're visiting Zhangye Geological Park.. We want to thank DAVID , he's the receptionist and our driver too.. Excellent service. The breakfast buffet food as well was great..The waffle, the toasted bread, fruits plus coffee. Enough choices for foreigners like us...there are quite a few options for for Chinese people.
It's not that I didn't like it. Just a heads up and remember that the bathroom/toilets are outside..

The tents are just inside the park so you can walk to the main entrance or even watch part of the mountains from your room
The owner is really nice and supportive, he can arrange everything for you also providing a driver.
Maybe a restaurant serving other options than hotpot would be better

Great experience to sleep in the tents, at the same time very comfortable with everything of a normal hotel room.
Very close to the west gate of the rainbow mountain park, few minutes to walk.
Transport to nearby other parks, train station, airport, ...is offered for pay by the hotel.
Group showers in very good conditions with good water pressure, solar energy warmed.
The head of the staff was not there when we arrived, because of that arrival wasn't so smooth.
A little bit more information regarding the possible activities and the available food at the restaurant would have been great.

it was the best place ever!! I will 10000% recommended it. I recommend two nights, and it is right next to the color mountains.

Sleeping in a tent and being outdoor is nice, despite being October and low temperatures in the night it was not cold (heater and heating blanket available). Bit noisy indeed as the tents are fairly close to each other. Location is very good, basically next to the West entrance (=more quiet) of the Rainbow Mountains and only 10km to Bingguo which I recommend to visit as well. Hotpot in the evening and good breakfast in the morning, especially liked the yoghurt with walnuts/goji/raisins etc and good coffee.
Being Dutch (read tall) the beds were on the small side

Nice location next to the mountains and quirky to stay in the yurt. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Good place to stay for the night to see the sites in the area
Lack of atmosphere in the restaurant tent and dinner was a bit overpriced but no other options near the property

This place is exactly how you think it will be looking at the pictures on Booking, and even better. The location is just amazing. The yurts are cosy and comfortable. Though you have to share toilets and showers with other guests, the facilities are clean and warm, close to the yurts, so it's not in anyways a minus for the hotel. On the evening, you can have a barbecue outside, grilling yourself the meat and vegetables that the hotel offers on a large buffet. They also make a big fire and play music, so people can dance around it. The all atmosphere is very warm and family like. The breakfast buffet in the morning, that you take in a big yurt close to the entry of the hotel, is also very good and diversified. Though the staff speak few english, they were really helpful with us (using google translator, pictures, gestures or anything that make people able to communicate): they helped us planning a all day of visits in different scenic areas with a (VERY) nice driver for a descent price, before we leave Zhangye on the evening. To summarize: Go there, it's great.
As yurts are yurts, they could a bit too much noise from your neighbors at night.

Atmosphere was great.
Staff were attentive and helpful.
Yurts were beautiful, as was the scenery.
The food available was excellent (there were plenty of vegetarian options too).
The breakfast was really varied- something for everyone- and buffet style.
Showers and toilets were clean and very well kept. They were always quiet (in September) and had everything you needed.

Very nice tent with everything needed inside. Helpful staff. The location is next to Danxia could walk only 10 mins. Share toilet was clean. Especially nice BBQ!
4.6 / 5.0
Never expect the comfort of staying in the tent. The staff were helpful in arranging the transfer from the train station to the tent and back. The buffet breakfast was excellent.
The only sitting toilet bowl was flooded most of the time. Our tents were near the toilet and we could smell the stench probably due to bad sewage system.
4.6 / 5.0
The staffs are very helpful and accommodating. Mr.Shang 尚小飞 gave us a lot of help and recommendations. He gone extra miles to make sure we have an enjoyable trip.
