The resort is nested in the hills surrounded by Jungle. The sights and sounds of the jungle are great to wake up to in the morning.
The staff are terrible. Firstly, they require cash for everything. This is not stated anywhere on booking.com and wasnt mentioned when they whatsapp'd me a day before i arrived. I had stayed in three other places in this part of Sabah before arriving here, all of whom accepted cards. Many other people had this issue and were struggling to pay their bills
Upon asking advice on an ATM i was told to drive a 34k round trip to find money. It was late at night and i really didnt want to do this as i had a very early start. I asked if petrol stations had cash machines and was told they are always out of order. I called the Petronas 3km away who picked up straight away and told me they had a working cash machine. I took a spin down and grabbed cash without any hassle. Had i lifted to the staff i would have been on a wild goose chase on poor roads at night.
I had a medical issue that required an appointment in Kota Kinabalu and told staff i needed to leave at 0745 sharp (breakfast starts at 7.30). When i came to the reception/breakfast area all of the guests were waiting but there were no staff. Finally one of the staff members came and told me there was a delay. He wasnt able to check me out or deal with my payment. I had to leave to make my appointment but this left me having to do international transfers to pay my bill. Granted the on duty receptionist apparently had car issues its still unacceptable to have no cover/backup (i have no idea when someone arrived as i had left)
I have stayed in jungle huts all over Sri Lanka, South East Asia and South America and this is probably the the worst. The staff need to be replaced and educated in hospitality. While the huts are nice they are still not very well built. The food i had for dinner was pretty bad vs the meals i had just down the road in The Nest (Jungle Edge Resort).
I lost a bunch of hours and additional fees on this place so it just wasnt worth it

The rainforest location is amazing with lots of areas to sit, relax and enjoy the canopy view. Food was amazing with good vegetarian options, and the free shuttle makes it easy to get to the Orangutan sanctuary.
We booked without aircon, so if you like it a bit cooler book a room with aircon cause it can get hot in the dorms

The place is absolutely amazing. The rooms have excellent views and they let you fully disconnect. There is also a relaxation area with some sun beds in which you can lean back with fantastic views. It is such an experience staying here.
Be mindful that the location is a bit far from the main road, which could affect your plans if you need a vehicle. Also, I saw myself thinking about the amount of cash I should be bringing to pay the room and dinner, so some sort of online or card payment would be fantastic.

Very nice people working there! The food was also great and they help you with everything you need.

I like the concept of the place
This is just a recomendation, resort may consider to add more activities to do. In terma of facilities every room should have the basic utilities, such as, kettle & iron for guest. Min to have mug.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in, feel like it is a must stay for every traveller. You stay in wooden lodges so be prepared to find a few critters around your room but mosquito nets are provided. Bathroom is semi-outside so has a great view onto the jungle but still feels private at the same time. staff were absolutely fantastic, very very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and cheap. Free shuttle service into sepilok.
a couple of holes in the mosquito net, not really affecting its function though.

The place is really nice. You have a lot of hammocks and chairs to chill in, to watch the beautiful surroundings and just to read a book or enjoy the weather and trees. The bed is good, great pillows with a nice in between (not to hard or to soft) bed. Its clean, yes there are insects! But you are on the edge of a part of the jungle so..
The staff is really really really nice, they transport you free to the activities around Sepilok and adjust the pickup place if need be.
The food is nice, its basic not going to lie but its nice. Also if you don’t have enough breakfast, you’ll get extra bread if you ask.
the mosquito net is handy because of the insects.
some small things like:
They’re dogs walking around the perimeter (this is normal in Borneo atleast for what I’ve seen). they are not harmful or make a lot of noice, but my partner doesn’t like dogs.
The water in the shower is cold, also not really uncommon in Borneo.
Also, the place is a bit remote. Getting a Maxim/Grab during the evening night is hard. So you might better do your activities during the day and enjoy a good book in the evening.

Staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Food was good, not a huge choice, but most guests only stay a few days, so not usually a problem.. Room was very clean, with good quality toiletries provided. The outside bathroom was a quirky feature. Free shuttle service to the main attractions nearby, and reasonably priced excursions further afield were available.
Free roaming dogs from a neighbouring property were friendly, but could be noisy during the night.

The location is phenomenal, and everyone working there was wonderful! Such a welcoming family and they really help with every query, help you make plans to me get the most out of your visit. Don't be put off by it being a little way out from the main attractions of Sepilok... although the free shuttle is three times a day, they will actually pick you up and drop you anywhere at any time with just a WhatsApp message to arrange. The room was beautiful and you are surrounded by the beautiful nature.
The breakfast is a little basic maybe, and the rooms are a little on the pricey side but well worth it for the scenery. Nothing actually bad to say!

it’s basic, clean and excellent value for money. We loved the chilled-out atmosphere and the friendly staff. Also, we recommend this fire-fly tour company below; they were informative and friendly.

Very friendly staff! They help you with everything and always with a smile. Free transfer to the sanctuary. Great food for very decent prices and the breakfast with coffee/tea, toast, egg, chicken sausage and fruit is delicious. They are currently rebuilding some stuff, but it didn't bothered us at all. They stop the work around 4pm and leave nothing behind. We loved absolutely everything. You literally sleep in the jungle and we had the best night! 10/10 recommend!

An awesome location out in the nature! The staff is so kind and lovely. Every trip to the hot spots around is offered at any time and arranged perfectly with an own driver. The food was very delicious. I and some other guys I met over there, we all enjoyed a marvelous stay, a nice evening and a very silent night. I really was impressed and being around, I would go Paganakan Dii Tropical again. The view on the jungle is exciting. I really really loved this place.
I couldn´t find anything which could be better, it´s a beautiful place. ..........................................................................................

Amazing view with friendly staff. Delicious in house Nasi lemak! I would say it is the best in town.
Rather hot to put on mosquito net at night. Maybe can consider a more porous type for better ventilation.
