The beds were comfortable
If I’m honest I was very disappointed by the dated worn out standard of this hotel. We had done a trip all through Morocco starting from Marrakesh up to Tangier and the places we stayed were excellent. We then arrived in Gibraltar and were disappointed with the hotel. I would say it was more a 1* or 2*. The location was very good and the reception staff and night porter were lovely. However, the breakfast was one of the worst breakfasts we have had in all the travels we have ever done. Toast and yogurt were about all there was. The tea and coffee were not refilled much and we wished we hadn’t added on the breakfast and went somewhere else. It’s such a shame when the hotel could be lovely but it needs completely renovating and the standards need to be raised considerably. We would not stay in this hotel again.

Hotel decisamente vecchio e trascurato in ogni sua parte. Il raffrescamento della camera era effettuato da un apprecchio aggiunto in un secondo momento e molto rumoroso

There was not much to like other than it was in a good location and it was possible to walk to most attractions.
The website states that there is parking, albeit limited on a first come first served basis, but there was no information from the desk where the various public parking were located. This took us a considerable time to find parking. We paid for breakfast for the two-day stay, we didn't bother on the second day, the breakfast menu - which was a help-yourself buffet, was the worst that I have come across. There was no fruit, the cereals were straight from a packet of cornflakes or similar, no muesli, and no alternative milk products for those that cannot have dairy. There was only butter and no vegetable spread. No fresh pastries apart from small croissants straight out of a supermarket bulk bag. The juice was from a carton. We could eat nothing as vegetarians. We only had the orange juice. The room was clean but rather rundown. The bathroom was basic and could do with a redecoration. The toilet flush was somewhat broken. The air conditioning was a standalone machine that sounded like an aircraft taking off. It was noisy even putting it in sleep mode. We just turned it off as it was impossible to hear each other with it on. There was no kettle or tea or coffee in the room. No iron just a hairdryer. We didn't use the swimming pool which required going out of the main building onto the street and into another side building. It was a very small pool so we didn't think it worthwhile even with a 6 year old.

Location is outstanding if you want to be in the centre of things, which we did. It was quiet under the circumstances.
Overriding impression of Bistol Hotel is wonderful pool and location, awful pokey corridors/rooms, unimaginatve breakfast, variable staff. It badly needs an upgrade inside and a bit of real care and attention. For all that it's good value for money.

A very centrally located hotel for the main shopping area on Main Street, with the Commonwealth Park just across the street, through which there is access to the excellent restaurants on nearby Queensway Quay, as well as the Kings Bastion leisure centre for bowling and cinema. The TV in the room was good, with plenty of channels available.
The decor was extremely dated and the rooms were very hot and airless. The a/c machine was not effective. For an older person, stepping in and out of the bath/shower would be difficult as it was very high, and there were no handles to hold onto; my elderly aunt in another room was therefore unable to use the shower. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - just a "machine" in reception where for a £1 hot water or a coffee could be purchased! The bar next to the pool was not particularly welcoming, and seemed to be used by locals who smoke a lot outside.

The team member made a recommendation for food (Charlie’s restaurant - which was great thank you!) and provided a map!
Nice staff, easy to park and checked in early.

This is an older type of hotel with 19th century touches in the interior but in an excellent location, close to the main street where you can get an English breakfast fix (the hotel only serves continental). Rooms werealso old-fashioned in their furnishings but clean.
There was a lot of what sounded like animal/bird noise at all times including at night. Front desk staff was brusque to almost rude about requests. OK, so it is very hard to get a taxi when a cruise ship is in the harbour but explaining this in a less snappy tone as if a request for a taxi was unreasonale for a hotel is unnnecessary.

Quiet room, slept well - noisy air con but worked.
Hotel feels somewhat dated and a bit clunky, but it's clean and good value for money. I'd stay again

Location was excellent, close to shops and attractions
Very disappointed in breakfast, £7.00 is a lot for toast and a few other things. Lots of British tourists and yet not tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom amenities (shampoo etc) poor and very difficult to open.

Great location - very quiet but a few minutes walk from the main shopping street- and very friendly staff.
Hotel feels very tired and in need of some refurbishment.
Bed was rather uncomfortable and, like the wider hotel, the room was very tired looking and needs decorating.

The hotel is at the heart of main street so everything needed is walk distance away. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel's facilities are old but functional.

Night staff was not too kind and too hard to park close. We took more then 50 minutes to find a place to park as the hotel only has 5 parking lot

The hotel is very centrally and conveniently located in Gibraltar.
It has the most extensive cable options I have ever seen in a hotel. Every cable channel ... from Sky to BT sports to Sony to HBO was available in the room TV free of charge.
The pool and the breakfast hall was in a different building.

Location. They parked all the tourist vans right outside the hotel, even though we didn't use them. The hotel is located a few feet from the pedestrian streets and a short walk to the cable car to ascend Gibraltar peak.
The breakfast was dismal, don't bother with that, but the bar was nice and the staff was friendly.
