The property was built in the early eighteenth century, according to a typology then widespread with barrel vaults. In ancient times it served as a lookout tower inside the lemon terraces then, in 1875, following the abandonment of the adjacent Lone Church, the tower was transformed into a Sacred Chapel to accommodate, until the beginning of the 900, the Madonna di Lone. On that occasion, the first decorations were made, at times still existing. At the beginning of 1920 it was transformed into a residential house.
In 2010, major renovations were made to the building by the current owner: the 'tower' with its large wall of about 160 cm, has become a luxury bathroom with the original decorations of the time. Adjacent to it is a frescoed bedroom in which stands out on the headboard of the original painting of the Madonna located at the time in the Old Chapel. The property is located in a beautiful location, overlooking the sea and the famous natural 'arc of love' that for years has been the testimonial of the famous chocolates 'Baci Perugina'.
The Villa is in a very convenient position to reach, by car or public transport, all the other locations of the Coast.
To reach the property there are 104 comfortable steps to climb from the coastal road. The stairs are the characteristic of all the houses of Amalfi that was built on the slopes of the mountain that embraces the sky and sea. It is a very romantic villa with a spectacular view; ideal for those who want a holiday immersed in tradition and the scents of the sea and nature.
In APRIL 2019 the structure has undergone a complete restyling with the renovation of all the interior furnishings and the complete renovation of the outdoor area.

Villa Lauro is a paradise with spectacular views and a beautiful garden terrace. Host Giulia is attentive and helpful, making the stay unforgettable. A perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast.

We loved everything about the Villa and Guilia our contact person. The location was perfect, close to downtown Amalfi. Giulia met us when we checked in and went over everything very meticulously. She set up transportation and recommended a few restaurants for us . 10 out of 10 stay!

After a few bustling days in Rome our stay in Amalfi was peaceful and joyful. From the moment we met Giulia and entered Villa Lauro we were caught up in the magic. Every room a delight. Sunshine, amazing views, airy space, everything we hoped for and more. Yes, the stairs must be reckoned with but we got better and better at them. Being oldest I was fine, just had to be smart about my pace UP! Going down was a joy. The pool much enjoyed and needed! We had a blast. We loved the location. We loved Gas Bar. We loved Villa Lauro!

Many times the homes in real life don't look as fabulous as the pics on the app but this is a rare exception where this home exceeded the pics and offered an exceptional sense of cleanliness, beauty, spectacular views & comfort. The host offered amazing reliability to assist with transport, dining options and anything we needed assistance with. We felt cared for, like part of the family. This sets the bar way high!! I'll be returning for sure! :)

Villa Lauro is an incredible property and Giulia was probably the best host I’ve ever have dealt with. From the very beginning of booking this property, she contacted me and assisted in helping plan our entire trip. From our private boat guided tour of the Amalfi Coast, Pompei tour, Ravello, Positano, dinners, private chef, delivered breakfasts every morning set up on the patio, she couldn’t have been more helpful or quick to respond.
The Villa itself is gorgeous as well. Yes, there are a lot of stairs to get to it but Giulia arranged porters to help with the bags (even for our 4:30AM departure to get back to Rome) and what is at the end of the climb is well worth it. Such an amazing property, from the view to the patio to the Villa itself, it really is perfect.
The location was also great. Just outside the gates to the Villa is the GAS Bar which has drink, snacks and a restaurant upstairs with, what we thought was really good food! Sandwiches, pizza’s, pasta, appetizer. We ate there a couple of times and always enjoyed it. A very quick ride to Amalfi (it was a 40 Euro cab ride for a 5 min ride, which seemed a bit excessive) and we arranged drivers to visit the other beautiful cities along the coast.
The only thing that I couldn’t tell from the pictures is that the patio isn’t connected to the Villa. It’s just outside the front door down a few stairs. There is a great balcony connected to Villa. Would love to come back!

Villa Lauro was a fabulous home away from home on the coast. We had no issues staying at the Villa. Giulia was a dream, and went above and beyond during our stay. From assisting us with a special birthday dinner one night at the villa to helping us locate and retrieve a bag that we left one night at a local restaurant, she was superb! It was very difficult to leave Villa Lauro. I hope to return to this very special place soon!

We expected and understood the steps to get up to the Villa. What was not expected was the steep staircase inside the villa to the upstairs bedroom and the difficulty in managing multiple levels within that tight space. The youngest couple in our group (50's) stay in that room, but they had fallen off the platform bed during the first night and were reluctant to repeat the experience. They ended up having to sleep in the living room.

My friends and I stayed at this spectacular Villa in Amalfi and it was one of the greatest experiences of our lives. The Host is amazing and she was very informative and easy to work with. The bedroom and amenities were spacious and beautiful. The best part of this place was the outside area/terrace. It was very spacious with stunning views of the water and the Amalfi coast. We had a group of 9 friends plus an infant spend 4 nights here and it was well worth it. I couldn’t recommend this place more, book it.

Villa Lauro is a spectacular place. Family had the most beautiful time. We celebrated our 26th anniversary with family and had Chef Gino prepare us a wonderful meal. Giulia is the most gracious hostess and made our stay even more comfortable. She was informative, available and kind. Villa Lauro is a place for peace, tranquility, and the best people.

What a wonderful escape and beautiful villa close to Amalfi but far enough away to feel private. We couldn't have asked for a more perfet villa and host "Guilia" to stay for our first time on the Amalfi Coast. The home was immaculate, the amenties were spot on and the beautiful garden terrace was the icing on the cake. Many wonderful memories were made and when we come back we will definately stay again at Villa Lauro.

The Villa is only a couple km outside Amalfi
( easily walkable along the rather exciting road!) but it is a wonderful respite from the tourist craziness. The deck is amazing for breakfast and at the end of the day and the villa is very comfortable for 5-6 people. Giulia is also an excellent property manager - great communication and very helpful especially with transportation. Also the beach just down from the villa is a jewel - way less crowded and very lovely. And with almost 500 steps you earn your pasta! My only “ could be better” are the bathroom amenities. They should be what a nice hotels do and they were a little chintzy. But it is a tiny complaint to an overall lovely stay! Fun was had by all!

Guilia was very helpful with the arrangements for our family holiday in Amalfi. She quickly responded to messages. She was able to arrange the transfer from airport to house, return to Naples with a stop in Pompei, private chef for dinner at the house, private boat charter and even stocking up on wines for the house!
For the activities, she connected us with the operator and we could manage the payments directly to them. (plan ahead with cash in case the credit card machine is not working). All the operators were very helpful and communicated with us through Whatsapp. Definitely get a driver booked!
The house was very nice - have to be aware of the steps! This would not be a good place for anyone with mobility issues. Porters were arranged to assist with bags up and down the stairs upon check in and departure.
Unfortunately we did not have great weather so could not fully enjoy the hot tub and outdoor patio - bummer since that was the features that really drew us to this property.
If staying here - I would recommend having the chef to prepare dinner 1 or 2 nights. Transportation down to the town of Amalfi was inconsistent with availability of taxis, and also costs ~40 euro each way, depending time and number of people. There are not many restaurants within walking distance. The closest spot "Gas Bar" - perfect for morning coffee and pastry does serve foods in the evenings, however they are closed on Mondays, which was the 1 night we didnt have meal plans!

There were nine of us traveling in Europe, starting in Paris, then Florence and ending in Amalfi.
Everything regarding the Villa Lauro stay was outstanding. Prior to our visit, Guilia was very attentive on email, assisting and setting things up for us like transportation.
We had assistance getting our suitcases up the 104 steps (thank goodness) and received perfect instructions on use of items in the villa.
Guilia assisted with transportation set-up during our stay to several areas, was able to order us groceries for delivery and set-up a great boat trip to Capri.
She lives in and knows the area and residents which also allowed us to get to do and see even more than we thoughts.
the villa is located in a great area, walking distace to Amalfi where you can get a ferry to many of the other great cities.
The villa itself was amazing, we loved having dinner our first night with a chef outside on the upstairs porch area.
We will definitely stay there if we ever visit Amalfi again.

The view from the garden is unlike anything else! We stayed in mid-October but the weather was still pretty nice. We even got a beach day in. The property was beautiful and well maintained. Giulia was particularly helpful with arranging transportation to the VRBO and helping us get groceries delivered. Would highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Villa Lauro. The accommodations were beautiful, clean, and well appointed. It was very comfortable for our family of 6 (4 kids ages 5-11). The view was stunning and the garden was beautiful.
Giulia was a wonderful hostess, helping us at every step of the way, answering our questions, making recommendations, and helping us to set things up. Her staff who helped with breakfast and cleaning was kind and thorough.
We enjoyed the location, which was up the hill from the town center of Amalfi. It was a challenging walk along the road with kids, so we ended up using the bus, golf cart porters, and taxis to get in and out of town. We preferred the quieter location - as the town center was really busy in August.
We loved Villa Lauro and would love to return someday!

Giulia is a wonderfully resourceful host who always makes herself available and together with her attentive and helpful team will look after your every need.

Villa Lauro is the perfect Amalfi experience
The villa is of classic design, with an exceptional master suite. The deck is where we spent half our time. The small pool/jacuzzi, the dining table and kitchen. We cooked, drank, read and cooled off on that deck. The view is branded in my memory. Giulia was an exceptional property host. Always available and eager to assist. Daily housekeeping is a wonderful service included. We walked to Amalfi at least once per day, always taking the bus back uphill (which is easy). We had a car and parked it at the nearby lot. So many great restaurants nearby. I miss it all and have only been back home one day.

Perfect for us
Villa is a beautiful as everyone says. It is about a 25 minute walk to Amalfi center down hill, 35 back uphill. We used the bus often which was easy, can use $20-$30 euros each way, which seemed excessive for the short ride. Walking the endless steps in the summer heat was tough. I recommend having the dinner catered at the villa one night. They did a great job. Giulia is awesome and very responsive to any needs.

Stunning Property on Amalfi Coast
Amazing property on the Amalfi Coast. Could not have been more beautiful- simply stunning. The patio is as amazing as it looks- we spent most of our time together outside, and the full outdoor kitchen was just amazing as we cooked breakfast and had happy hours/snacks outside every day. A few additional notes/suggestions;
1) The house is a decent climb from the road/entrance, but we managed fine despite having one member in her late sixties, just need to take your time. The porters provided make arrival and departure super easy by carrying everyone's suitcases. (And if you cannot manage steps, avoid the Amalfi coast overall..)
2) The beach at the bottom of the cliff is simply the best- small round pebbles, some of the best snorkeling ever right off the beach, a fabulous open air restaurant with amazing food and inexpensive drinks served with a smile. Antonio, Rafael and crew were just awesome, we ended up joining staff lunch for some 'off menu' items some days before kitchen closed in the late afternoon.
3) Beach is 400 steps down in total, but going down is easy and fun, and you can catch the ferry back to/from Amalfi right off the beach for 4 euro, which is fun all by itself. Adults chose to walk down then ferry back to Amalfi/cab ride to house to avoid the climb back up, younger folks went right back up the steps.
4) 15-20 minute walk to downtown Amalfi along a busy road. We both walked / paid the overpriced cabs depending on how we felt. Amalfo was busy, but also really cool, way better than Positano...
1) The G.A.S. Bar at the bottom of steps was great- not fancy, but a local institution that had everything from breakfast through dinner on its deck with the best view ever. Not fancy, but perfect for us.
Giulia, our hostess, was incredibly attentive. Always a text or call away, always going above and beyond. First class all the way, as befits such a stunning property!

Our stay at Villa Laurel was perfect in every way. The villa and the views were spectacular. The location was ideal for visiting the towns along the Amalfi Coast. Still dreaming of this Villa
The most beautiful Villa in all the land. Guilia, the hostess was very attentive and recommend a wonderful boat day and places to eat. The experience of this villa stay is comparable to any 5 or 6 star hotel. Cleaning service, grocery deliveries, and anything else we needed. The beauty of the villa is beyond what the pictures show. The finishes are stunning and the outdoor area is breathtaking. My morning workouts will be remembered forever. You must stay here!

Fabulous stay!
We spent a week in Amalfi for a family wedding reception. The Villa Lauro could not have been a more beautiful place to stay. The house has an up-to-date kitchen and bathrooms. The large terrace has an outdoor kitchen and a spectacular view. We were welcomed by Giulia on our first day who was gracious and helpful throughout our stay. We appreciated the wonderful hospitality, the cleanliness of the villa, and the suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. Amalfi is built on a hillside, so steps are part of the experience. Porters for luggage and delivered groceries made it quite pleasant. We will cherish the memories of this wonderful week!

Beautiful house and garden with stunning view!
Villa Lauro was paradise on earth! The garden was gorgeous with an incredible view in all directions. The view from the balcony--off the bedroom and living room--was equally gorgeous. The house was quiet and peaceful, close enough to Amalfi to walk to it in 15 minutes, but far enough away from the crowds of tourists to feel almost like a local. There was a market within 10 minutes (by car), and a cafe/pizzeria just a 2-minute walk from the house. Simply put, Villa Lauro was a beautiful home with a gorgeous view: a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast. Our only quibbles: the jacuzzi was not a hot tub jacuzzi. It was more like a small pool with jets that had cool water in it, to enjoy on hot summer nights, to cool off. This was NOT a hot tub jacuzzi to warm you up on a chilly autumn night. It was not designed to hold hot water. Simply cool water. So that was a bit disappointing because when I read the word jacuzzi online, I thought it was a hot tub jacuzzi. Also, it was a pity the kitchen didn't have basic cooking items like olive oil and sugar, etc. for coffee. It would be nice to arrive and find just a few basics in the refrigerator, like coffee and milk. That said, there was a lovely bottle of wine left as a gift when we arrived. The kitchen itself was the only room in the house that was less than ideal, as it had no windows. We were glad, however, there was a kitchen area in the garden, which proved very useful, since we had all our meals there. All in all, Villa Lauro is a beautiful home with a garden that is like paradise on a cliff above the sea. Communication with Guilia was excellent and for those who speak very little Italian, she speaks very good English. She was also very kind to get us a porter to carry our bags up and down the stairs on our arrival and our departure. Also very useful was the parking spot Guilia reserved for us (at a small daily cost) very close to the house. Even the parking lot had a stunning view. If you're looking for the perfect home base on the Amalfi Coast, you've found it.

Giulai who manages her father's villa is a fantastic host. I have never seen more responsive host in my entire life. When we were leaving at ungodly hour of 5:45 AM, she got two boys to come to take our bags 100+ steps down. The property is immaculate, managed professionally, and maintained in a superb condition. The highlight for us was the garden that has full kitchen, dining table, lounge chairs, hot tub, and gym equipment. The views are out of this world. We spent our entire waking hours in the garden. Even when it was hot, breeze kept the garden area comfortable. We did not use inside kitchen once.We liked Giulai's extra touch: an excellent collection of wines to use. The prices are very reasonable. She also has arrangement with a local grocer to delivery groceries which otherwise would be a chore to haul up the 100+ steps. While others have complained about electricity charges not included in the price, we liked it because it encouraged us to use AC more judiciarily, a positive for climate.Only couple of minor peeves: a) the kitchen should have some basic ingredients like salt, pepper, and oil. Some Pasta, and pasta sauce will be an extra touch. That will avoid immediate trip to the grocery store. b) a few bus tickets so we could take bus down to purchase more tickets. Finally, during peak period like August, public transportation is not the best way around Amalfi. The buses are jam packed, with no orderly queues. The taxis are unbelievably expensive. €20 to go 1.5 KM to Amalfi, €80 to go to Revello and 90+ to Positano.

Beautiful Villa
Wonderful villa, great views. We enjoyed every minute. Lovely, clean property. Highly recommended. The steps to the top are not for the weak but the views make up for it.

Lovely Villa and area
Beautiful Villa and fantastic views. Giulia was a great host and very helpful. Easy check in and a strong young chap to help us up the steps to the villa with our luggage. We stayed 2 weeks and probably shouldn’t have bothered with hiring a car (which to be fair we were told we didn’t need!)
The bus service is very good into Amalfi 1.3 euros each way and providing you don’t miss the last bus at 11.00 there’s no need to walk. The steps were not an issue to us as we are fairly active but if you struggle with steps then the Amalfi coast is not for you. Only slight niggle is paying extra for electricity, I think if they put a sensible allowance on the hire rate and then charged extra for any idiots who want to leave the air conditioning on 24/7 that would be easier to swallow. Everything was very clean and bed linen etc high quality, the housekeeper came in Wednesday s and Saturdays and was also lovely and friendly (also good at her job)
I would certainly recommend this to anyone- but be ready for steps and don’t bother hiring a car!! Thanks for a lovely stay😎

Great host and good location to explore Amalfi coast
Giulia was a great host. She arranged our boat rental for a day trip to Island of Capri, transportation to the start of the hike for Path of the Gods, and transportation and a tour guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The house was beautiful. We had 2 families and used both the house and the lower room. The outdoor deck and pool/tub was a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing or beach. I highly recommend a trip to Ravello while you are there. Thanks!
