La Chataîgne is a real family home: open, warm and welcoming. The house is surrounded by terraces and shaded pergolas giving several options for meals or recreation. The large swimming pool in the garden is sufficiently distant to allow a quiet siesta while others choose to swim.
Built with natural materials there reigns a soothing and serene atmosphere. The living areas indoors are spacious and welcoming.
The house is located on a soft hill covered with cypresses and olive trees, away from the crowds. At few km away from the center of Corfu town and from beaches, it's position is ideal.
Totally renovated, the house was designed by an architect constantly in search of harmony and quality but also looking for advanced technology, offering maximum comfort while enabling low power consumption in order to preserve the environment.
Corfu is a small town of 30 000 inhabitants, very lively all year round. The city received a Venetian imprint, with small alleys full of charm, lots of taverns, restaurants, cafes, small shops of every kind. The Corfiots love to meet each other in town, have a chat, sip an ouzo with 'pikilia' (plate with nibbles), read their paper taking the time to enjoy life. There prevails a very mediterranean atmosphere with a friendly, gentle and absolutely non violent attitude. The town offers many cultural activities, shopping, great restaurants and an international airport connected to the main European cities.

Excellent holiday home in Corfu
We recently enjoyed a 2 week family holiday in Corfu at this impressive property. The villa is extremely well maintained and well equipped. We have rented many holiday homes in Greece and throughout Europe and have never come across a villa that well equipped to welcome a family. The property is large, with the pool positioned a few steps down from the house. The pool is large, well maintained, and at the perfect temperature. There is a pool house next to it that is also very practical. The house has very good distribution, all rooms are large and comfortable, and the master suite on the top level is very large. It even has an adjacent study that we converted into a room for our 6 year old daughter. The owner is extremely hands on and helpful. Prior to our arrival some groceries we requested were made and placed in the kitchen and we had a cot bed for our 2 year old son as well as a high chair. The bathrooms are well designed and brand new. The kitchen is tasteful and very well equipped. We hired a private chef for the stay and he was able to find everything he needed in the kitchen. There is wifi on the main level of the house and cable tv and an Apple TV is available. The view is peaceful with a lot of greenery. The external parts of the house are also very comfortable. A cleaning lady was provided daily, Nena, who was very friendly, very good at her job, and always willing to help. The access to the house is a bit tricky, but that is standard in Corfu and in the islands in general. You definitely need a car. The house is just 10 minutes from the centre of Corfu which is priceless when you have a family and want to be able to go into town without a long drive. The beaches however are a bit far, with the closest one we visited being a 20 minute drive. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and look forward to our next stay at this property.
