About this cottage rental
Charming, cozy, newly-renovated cottage with beautiful vistas. Very close to Acadia National Park and just a few minute walk to the lovely Morgan Bay.
The cottage is elegant as well as rustic. A rare combination of nature, comfort and class. The cottage is located on an old Maine farm. A unique performing arts center is located a few hundred feet away. A lovely meditation center is also just a few minutes walk down the road.
There is a piano in cottage for anyone who wants to explore expressing themselves in music.
This apartment is located in a spacious, newly-renovated Maine barn on a beautiful and historic farm. It is a five minute walk to nearby scenic Morgan Bay, very close to hiking trails, biking and swimming. Acadia National Park is about 45 minutes away.
The farm offers a seasonal performing arts center featuring classical, jazz, singer songwriter and blues series among others.
Few rental spaces offer all of this in a ten-minute radius.
Pets: Dogs and cats are welcome, but you must contact me in advance so we can discuss details. Upon approval, there is an additional cleaning fee of $50.00 for the one pet or $80 for two pets. The fee for the first pet is included in your VRBO total. If bringing more than one pet, the additional pet fee is payable in cash at checkout. Stays longer than 7 days will need to discuss possible additional pet cleaning fees with the host. Please note that many animals live near the property and frequently walk through it (such as deer, wild turkeys, neighbors' cats, etc.) A porcupine lives under one of the barns, so we recommend keeping dogs on a leash when outside to avoid injury.
Late arrivals after 9:00 PM are subject to a late fee of $25.00.
Additional guests: For more than 2 guests, there is an additional fee of $25 per guest per night.

The property was peaceful. The host was very helpful. Seafood, hiking and beautiful views are all easily accessible. The cottage and bed were quite comfortable to come home to after a day's activities.

It's a great place to get away from spending the days in bar harbor and Acadia, while also getting the added benefit of being close to great local small towns that also have lots to offer.

We had a fantastic time at Alan’s cottage! It’s a gorgeous location, and we enjoyed the solitude. It’s also close enough to spend time in Acadia. There are beautiful performances at the cottages some nights, which were fantastic to hear. Alan was an excellent host, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Small kitchen but well equipped. Very clean and homey. The scenery there and around the property is beautiful. Conveniently located to Acadia and Ellsworth.

We had a such wonderful time staying here! The cottage had a gorgeous view and had everything we needed (including kitchen with hotplate for cooking). It's in such a quiet, tranquil area with short access to local hikes or a 45 minute drive to key attractions in Acadia. Alan was also a great host and gave us tips on local attractions. We would love to come back in the future when they have live music!

Great stay! Wish it was a little closer to Bar Harbor though!

The Host was on the property and knocking on the door! My dog is used to protecting his family so he was barking. Other than that Great!

It was clean and comfortable. Would recommend room darkening shades, sun was very bright at 5:30 AM.

Initially I was under the impression this was a single cottage on the property with the owners house, but in fact there are several other cottages. Other than that the place was as described. Surry is a quiet town with not much going on other than a few nature preserves and trails, but is within a 10-15 minute drive of another cute small coastal town of Blue Hill with great restaurants and little shops. Also about 45 minute drive to Acadia.
The cottage itself has all amenities and was very clean. The owner was very responsive!

Great place to stay if you want to be close to Acadia Park, Bar Harbor, and other places to explore in Maine. There was a bit of accommodation mix up, but the host (Alan) helped us get it figured out. It's been years since I've seen the Milky Way and so many stars that you can't even see the dark sky at night. Super quiet place, friendly people, wonderful place to get away from the daily grind.

The cottage was nice for what we needed which was a place to shower and sleep. It was a little further from Acadia National Park (about 45 minute drive one-way). Allen was very kind and welcoming. The grounds were in need of some care and we are pretty sure there was a mouse in the cottage.

This was my second time staying at the Surrey music farm and both times deserved 5 stars! The cottage was exactly as advertised and contained anything you could ever need. Not to mention stunning views from the deck and an amazing location if you hope to visit Acadia during your stay. Alan was also very communicative and personable each time! He even provides a list of recommendation and amenities to ensure your comfort ! Will be back again soon!

My wife and I took a quick little getaway to see Arcadia in the winter. We also brought our 9 year old grandson with us. The cabin was awesome, extremely clean, had everything we needed, including a piano! Our grandson had a awesome time trying to play music, and he didn't do all that bad. We highly suggest this place if you want to be out of the Arcadia hustle bustle. It was very, very quiet at night. Amazing views of MT. Cadillac.

My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend for our 9th anniversary. The cabin is located on a quiet street with an open landscape that allows for gorgeous views. The water was quick to heat and stay hot, the kitchenette was efficient, and the heat stayed consistent within the cabin.
My only “negative” is more a warning than anything: if you are 6’3” or taller and stand straight be careful of the wooden beam across the ceiling! It is a beautiful feature and I didn’t have to worry about it at all, but my partner did have to be wary.

We had an absolutely wonderful time in this cozy cabin. It had everything we needed, and was positioned perfectly to get outside and into town while we were there. The view was stunning. Thank you for having us!!

I had a very pleasant stay with my dog Louise. The other buildings are very close by so it has a small neighborhood vibe.

The location was great except that we were under the impression it was closer to Acadia. Our own fault for not mapping it out entirely. The checkin process was a bit confusing. We reached out the day prior but never heard back. When 5 min out I messaged again but no response prior to arrival at the previously noted checkin time. The parking description both on here and in the cabin advise to park on the grass to the left of the cabin. That spot does not exist though so it left us a bit stumped as to the best place to park a full size truck. We made our way into the cabin by guessing if it was open or not. It was and we let ourselves in. The host called me after we were in and was very pleasant to talk with.
The heat was at 50 upon arrival so that was a bit of a challenging way to start when arriving to a cabin at the end of December. The heat pump had to be turned on and off a few times to get it to push heat, after that it was heating by the time we were leaving for dinner. I gave 3 stars for cleanliness because I had to wash the shower floor and sink out as they didn’t appear to have been cleaned. The shower (and toilet) when turned on left black particles all over the floor, that stopped after it ran for a bit though.
All in all we had a great stay and the view is beautiful but I cannot say we would be back during the off season.

We enjoyed the cottage very much. It was a little further from Acadia then we had originally thought, but an easy drive.

Cozy cottage just far enough away from the touristy spots. A short ride to Acadia. No tv which was just fine. The owner was very nice.

We didn't know what to expect since we were coming in behind a hurricane. It was beautiful Alan was nice and wonderful he told us about what nearby and even had maps and information on acadia and bar harbor. It was beautiful to see the sunrise and deer just outside our door. Very peaceful we will definately be back.

From the moment we arrived we felt like we were part of something special. Alan walked us around his property, he shared ideas, listened to our interests and sent us on adventures. We explored for days and were lucky enough to be able to sit by the fire and share stories and bond with the others. We would give Alan 10 stars if we could! He gave us the opportunity to fall in love with Maine. He treated like family and we found it hard to leave. We will be back for sure.

We loved having our Cottage w a view as our warm oasis from a rained out camping trip to Acadia. It was a pleasure to meet Alan and so appreciated the care he took in showing us the property and cottage. He’s clearly created a very special place for healing through music. My only note is that it felt stressful to have to communicate via phone while hiking at Acadia to coordinate specific arrival time with owner. We had hoped for a more relaxed end to our day at the mountain. Otherwise great.

Newly renovated cottage was spotless, plenty of hot water and heat, comfortable queen bed and a piano! Convenient spot with a dog, just one step up and extensive lawns for walks; near beaches and hiking trails. The owner lives on the property and was a pleasure to work with.
